The detailed explanation of each component on the CAT 2017 score card is given below:

These are provided on the score card to verify the identity of the test taker.
This includes a candidate’s postal address and their email id provided during CAT Registration.

Scaling of CAT scores is a process carried out to ensure fairness to all the candidates. CAT exam is conducted in two shifts and the test paper is different for each shift so does the level of difficulty. There might be a case where question paper in one shift may be tough in comparison to the other shift. In such cases, the scores may vary. Thus in order to ensure fairness in comparing scores of candidates across different test sessions the scores of all appearing candidates arescaled.
A percentile score is the rank of a candidate relative to the rank of other candidates appearing in CAT 2017. For example, if in an exam where 100 candidates appeared and your rank is 25, then 75 people scored less than you. So your percentile score would be
(75/100) X 100 = 75%ile
Your CAT score card will contain section-wise percentile score and overall percentile score.
As per the exam pattern of CAT Exam, each question holds 3 marks. For marking a wrong answer, 1 mark is deducted as penalty. But no mark is deducted on marking the wrong option under non-MCQs section. Read About CAT Score Calculation
CAT Result is declared in the form of percentile score. The higher the percentile score, greater are the chances to get shortlisted for the admission procedure. These percentile scores are determined normalization of scores.
Example- To explain further, let’s suppose 1000 students appeared in both the shifts in two cities A and B. The question paper in the second shift was tougher on the second shift. Also, the students from City B are from Hindi medium background but the question paper was in English. Now, the average score of students in the first shift is 110 and an average score of students in second shift is 100. Also, an average score of students in city A is 120 and city B is 100.

Now, comparing the scores of all the students on the same parameter would not be fair. So the scores of the students in the second set and city would be multiplied by a number which is arrived at by careful consideration of multiple factors such as:
