CAT 2018 Application Form will be released in the month of August. It will be released online at the official website of CAT- iimcat.ac.in. CAT application process involves 4 main steps: CAT registration, application form filling, uploading documents and paying the fee. Interested candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% aggregate. Successfully registered candidates will appear for CAT 2018 in the last week of November.

Candidates need to register and create a profile on iimcat.ac.in. Through the registration, a unique registration id and password will be generated. These credentials will be needed throughout the entrance process.

If a candidate has any work experience till the date of July 31, 2018, they must enter the details of work experience.

Incase of incorrect entries made in the application form, candidates can rectify and correct a few them during the correction window. Not all entries can be corrected.If any candidate has entered a wrong name or date of birth, they need to fill a new form.

Ques. Do I need to fill the aggregate percentage of marks or as per my University standards?
Ans. As per CAT Eligibility Criteria, you have to fill the percentage according to your university norms.
Ques. What marks do I need to enter in CAT Application Form if I am in final year of Bachelor’s degree?
Ans. You must provide the Aggregate Percentage up to the last marks statement received from the University as per CAT Exam Eligibility Criteria.
Ques. I have completed my 10th/12th standard from CBSE Board. Do I need to submit the marks cited on the mark list?
Ans. As per CAT eligibility criteria, you must mention the Aggregate Percentage of marks (computed using the conversion formula specified by CBSE for converting CGPA into the percentage of marks) for all the subjects irrespective of your education board regulations.
Ques. What is the application fee for CAT Exam 2018?
Ans. The application fee is ₹900 for SC/ST/PwD category candidates and ₹1800 for all other categories of candidates.
Ques. Where and how can I pay CAT application fee?
Ans. The fee has to be paid after completing CAT application form. The fee can be paid using a valid credit card, debit card, or net banking facility.
Ques. When and how do I register for CAT 2018?
Ans. CAT Registration opens on Wednesday, August 9, 2018 10:00 a.m. and closes on Wednesday, September 25, 2018 05:00 p.m. Click CAT Registration to know how to register for CAT 2018.
Ques. Can I use my coaching institute’s or a friend’s email address at the time of filling CAT Application Form?
Ans. No. A valid and unique email address must be provided. All the information related to CAT exam and the following info during CAT selection criteria of the respective IIMs will be communicated to the registered email address only.
Ques. From where can I get the list of exam cities?
Ans. The list of exam cities is available at iimcat.ac.in under Exam Cities tab. There, you have to select the State/Union Territory and then the names of test city will appear on the screen. The exam cities will also be available in the form of a drop-down list at the time of filling CAT Application Form.
Ques. I have made mistake(s) while registering/entering the details in my CAT 2018 application. What should I do now?
Ans. You cannot edit certain personal details like Name, Date of Birth, email id, mobile number etc., at any stage in CAT Registration (either before or after submitting CAT application form).
If you have made a mistake in these details, you must register again with a new email ID. You can edit some personal details, such as Communication Address, Gender, Category, Educational Information, Work Experience, or Exam City preferences etc. until you have not submitted CAT Application Form.
After you submit CAT Application Form, there will be a limited time during which you can modify only a few details such as Percentage of Marks scored, Programs Selected, Work Experience, etc.
The details, that you won’t be able to change or modify are: details entered in the Personal Details section, Academics section except the percentage marks scored, Exam Centre City Preferences. You can only view and print after this.
You must preview your filled-in CAT application form before submission to ensure that all the details are correct.
Ques. I have an SC/ST certificate in the same format as uploaded at iimcat.ac.in. Can I use the same certificate or do I have to download the certificate template from the CAT website and fill it again?
Ans. If your certificate fulfills the following conditions then you can upload the same category certificate:
Ques. Which authority issues the NC-OBC certificate?
Ans. Refer the Government of India website www.ncbc.nic.in for details. List of Authorities empowered to issue caste/community certificates-

Ques. I have changed my name with the due procedure after completing my degree. Which name should I enter- my name as per the degree certificate or the changed name?
You must enter your changed name and provide the supporting documents for change of name at the time of examination, interview, and admission.
Ques. What should I do if I have lost the SMS of Password received?
Ans. Click the Forgot Password option on the Existing User Login Page. Enter the captcha code and the password will be sent to your registered email ID. It will not be sent as an SMS.
Ques. I have received multiple passwords. Which password should I enter to log in?
Ans. You need to use the password contained in the most recent SMS you have received. In case you are not able to log in, you can simply use your user id and click ‘forgot password’. You will receive a new password through email on your registered email id.
Ques. What should I do/select if my University name is not mentioned in the drop-down list while filling CAT application form?
Ans. If your university’s name does not appear in the drop down then you may select “Others” option from the drop down.
Ques. What are the documents that need to be uploaded while filling CAT Application Form?
Ans. Apart from uploading photograph and signature of the candidate, following certificates have to be uploaded-
1. Category Certificate- If you have chosen NC-OBC or SC or ST as the category, then you need to upload the relevant certificate.
2. PwD Certificate- If you are a PwD category applicant, then you need to upload the relevant PwD certificate.
