AP PGECET 2018 PATTERN & SYLLABUS
STATE LEVEL ONLINE TEST
AP PGECET 2018 Exam Pattern- AP PGECET 2018 consists of 120 multiple choice objective type questions within the duration of 2 hours. As per the previous trends, it is expected that there will be no negative marking for the incorrect responses in AP PGECET 2018. The topics covered in the exam are Mathematics, Aptitude and qualifying degree major. The break of the questions among the sections are as follows
For appearing in the exam, candidates should have obtained Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in the relevant field with at least 50% marks (45% in case of reserved category candidates) from an AICTE/UGC approved institution recognized by the Government of Andhra Pradesh as equivalent for admission into the relevant M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Pharmacy courses.
Andhra Pradesh Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test (AP PGECET) Exam is conducted in May by JNTU Kakinada on the behalf of A.P. State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE). It is the State level common entrance exam for admission into regular PG courses in Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy (M.E/M.Tech/ M.Pharm), Graduate level pharm-D. The pattern is designed to identify meritorious and motivated candidates for admission to Post Graduate programmes in Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy and Graduate level Pharm-D(PB).
Details on the type of exam, duration, medium, number of questions and total marks have been tabulated here:
|Type of Exam||MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions)|
|Total Time||120 Minutes|
|Total no. of Questions||120|
|Mode of Exam||Online|
The exam is conducted for a duration of 120 minutes. Total number of questions to be solved is 120 giving each question an average of 1 minute to be solved. Candidates are however advised to cover the easy section at first to save time for complex and hard problems.
Maximum marks that can be obtained in AP PGECET 2018 is 120 with each question holding exactly 1 mark. Unlike GATE and other major post graduate entrance, AP PGECET does not entertain negative marking in its paper and thus candidates can attempt as many questions as they want in the exam.
AP PGECET 2018 will also be conducted for admission to pharmacy streams. In AP PGECET Pharmacy, total of 120 questions are from the graduation subjects with varying weightage.

Mathematics is one of the most important section in AP PGECET exam. Test makers at TSCHE (Telangana State Council of Higher Education) devise question paper for AP PGECET to test candidates’ aptitude at engineering mathematics.
The salient feature of the section are listed below:
Linear Algebra: Vector algebra, Matrix algebra, systems of linear equations, rank of a matrix, eigenvalues and eigenvectors.
Calculus: Functions of single variable, limits, continuity and differentiability, mean value theorem, chain rule, partial derivatives, maxima and minima, gradient, divergence and curl, directional derivatives. Integration, Line, surface and volume integrals. Theorems of Stokes, Gauss and Green.
Differential Equations: First order linear and nonlinear differential equations, higher order linear ODEs with constant coefficients. Partial differential equations and separation of variables methods.
Fourier Series, Laplace Transforms, Numerical methods for linear and nonlinear algebraic equations, Numerical integration and differentiation.
Recommended Books for Engineering Mathematics
Aptitude is considered to be the most basic need to study engineering and continue higher studies in it. AP PGECET exam tests candidates’ logical aptitude and their approach to check their engineer antenna and their proficiency in solving logical problems in minimum time possible. Here’s a little detailed analysis of Aptitude section asked in AP PGECET exam.
Verbal Ability: English grammar, sentence completion, verbal analogies, word groups, instructions, critical reasoning and verbal deduction.
Numerical Ability: Numerical computation, numerical estimation, numerical reasoning and data interpretation.
Recommended Books for Aptitude
