AP EAMCET 2018 Exam Pattern

AP EAMCET 2018 Exam Pattern is defined by APSCHE (Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education). For the academic session 2018-19, exam will be conducted in online mode i.e. CBT- Computer Based Test. The exam consists 160 Multiple Choice Questions to be answered within 3 hours. Each question will have 4 alternative options out of which a student must select one that seems the most appropriate response.  Each correct answer carries 1 mark and there is no negative marking for a wrong answer. The question paper will be divided into 3 sections- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for the engineering course. For the agriculture course, the question paper will be divided into 4 sections- Botany, Zoology, Physics and Chemistry.  

AP EAMCET Exam Pattern will help candidates understand important elements related to the entrance exam viz. nature of questions, marking scheme, subject-wise marks distribution, total number of questions, etc. The registration process for AP EAMCET 2018 will begin from the 1st week of February 2018.  The form will be made available online at

AP EAMCET is a state level Common Entrance Test for candidates seeking admission in engineering and pharmacy programs offered by universities in Andhra Pradesh. This year, APSCHE has appointed JNTU Kakinada to organize the exam. The engineering and agriculture exam of EAMCET 2018 is conducted separately. The exam for engineering and agriculture stream will be held in the last week of April 2018 in multiple sessions.

AP EAMCET 2018 is common entrance test conducted by APSCHE for admission into the first year of UG Degree courses in Engineering and Agriculture streams in various institutes of Andhra Pradesh.Candidates who have graduated 12th class can apply for the exam. The questions will be based on class 11th and 12th syllabus as given by CBSE. Engineering paper will be cover questions from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry subjects. Whereas, agriculture paper will cover questions from Botany, Zoology, Physics and Chemistry .

AP EAMCET 2018 Pattern

The syllabus of EAMCET 2018 is prepared as per the 11th and 12th class syllabus of the Andhra Pradesh state board. The syllabus of AP EAMCET 2018 consisting of the subjects all the subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany and Zoology is given on the official website of APSCHE in detail. A total of 160 questions of 1 mark each will be asked in the exam. The distribution of questions for the subjects of each stream is as follows:

For Engineering Program

The engineering paper will have questions from PCM group. PCM stands for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. AP EAMCET Engineering paper will be of 3-hour with objective type of questions.

The agriculture paper will also be a computer based test. The questions will be from Biology (Botany & Zoology), Physics and Chemistry. The questions will be of objective-type with no negative marking for wrong answer. There will be a total of 160 questions. Each section will have 40 questions. The medium of examination is as per the candidate's choice. The languages are English, Telugu and Urdu. Those candidates who wish to appear in AP EAMCET 2017 with the medium of instruction as Urdu will get the center in Kurnool only.

AP EAMCET 2018 Marking Scheme

The students must know the marking scheme in order to decide how to tackle the questions in the exam. No change has been made in the marking scheme of AP EAMCET and it is the same as that for the year 2017. The marking scheme for 2018 is as follows:

  • 1 mark will be awarded for marking every correct response.
  • There will be no penalty for incorrect answers i.e. negative marking will not be applicable.
  • Marks will not be deducted from the total score for not attempting a question or leaving it blank.
  • Marking of two options will be considered as an inaccurate answer.

Use of Optical Response Sheet

AP EAMCET 2018 is a computer based test. It is important to know how to attempt the questions on the optical response sheet displayed on the computer screen. The details of the optical response sheet are given below:

  • Questions will be displayed one at a time in English and Telugu languages. There will be a different section for questions from Mathematics/Biology, Chemistry and Physics each. Candidate should select the Section with which he wishes to start the exam. Aspirants can change the section they are attempting at any point of time.
  • 1st question from the selected Section will be displayed on the screen. Aspirants can also click on the question number in the Question Palette at the right of side of the screen to go to that numbered question directly. They can shuffle between questions from any section in any order while attempting the exam according to their convenience.
  • To select an answer, the student can do one of the following:
  1. Click on the option that you wish to mark as your response. To save your answer, click on ‘Save & Next’ and proceed to the next question.
  2. You can also review the existing response by clicking on ‘Mark for Review and Next’ and save your answer of the question you are attempting.
  3. Click on ‘Clear response’ if you wish to change your answer or click on another suitable option.
  • The response marked for Review will be taken as the final answer when considered for evaluation.
  • Students can also use the options of ‘Zoom In’ or ‘Zoom Out’ that will increase or decrease the font size of question and options if required.
  • Aspirants can also view the general instructions of the exam by clicking on ‘Instructions’ button whenever required.
  • The countdown timer will start ticking as soon as you click the button ‘I am ready to begin’. The timer in the top right corner of screen will display the remaining time available for the candidate to complete the test. When the timer reaches zero, the exam will end by itself. Even if the candidate fails to click on the ‘Submit button’ their responses will be automatically saved by the computer system.
  • Exam summary will be displayed at the end of the exam with Subject Name, Number of questions that have been answered, not answered, marked for review and not attempted. Candidates will be required to confirm this information by clicking on ‘Yes’ option.
  • Aspirants can clarify all their doubts from the invigilator present in the exam hall before the test commences. Invigilators will not entertain doubts from any one after the test starts.

AP EAMCET 2018 Important Instructions

Candidates must ensure that they follow certain instructions to maintain the decorum of the exam hall and for the smooth running of the entrance test

  • Aspirants must ensure that they follow certain rules to maintain the decorum of the examination hall and for the smooth running of the exam. Candidate must report to the exam center at least two hours prior to the test on the date and time mentioned in Hall Ticket.
  • They must carry hall ticket, application form and photocopy of caste certificate (if applicable) to the venue.
  • Aspirants must carry a ball-point pen to the centre. A rough sheet will be provided which should later be submitted to the invigilator.
