AIIMS PG 2018 Exam Pattern

All India Institutes of Medicals Science-Post Graduate Exam (AIIMS PG) is conducted by AIIMS, New Delhi. There will be approximately 162 number of seats with subject wise division in each of the institutes.

  • AIIMS exam for post graduate courses will comprise of objective questions based multiple choice questions.
  • AIIMS PG 2018 is a computer based test which will be conducted online.
  • AIIMS PG question paper will comprise of questions from the syllabus of MMBS programmes.
  • The evaluation will involve negative marking scheme wherein 1/3rd of the marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
  • For MS/MD applicants, the exam duration will be 3 hours.
  • For MDS applicants, the exam duration will be 1.5 hours.

Applicants must possess MBBS degree for MS/MD courses and BDS degree for MDS courses. AIIMS PG is an all India level entrance examination for admission to post graduate courses such as

  • MS (Master of Surgery)
  • MD (Doctor of Medicine)
  • M. Ch. (Master of Chirurgiae - 6 years)
  • MDS (Master of Dental Surgery)
  • DM (Doctorate of Medicine – 6 years)

AIIMS PG 2018 Exam Pattern Highlights Table

AIIMS PG 2018 will be conducted in online mode. AIIMS PG 2018 Exam will be conducted in the first week of May 2018. AIIMS PG 2018 Result will be declared within a week of date of examination on the official website www.aiimsexams.org.

All the aspirants must study the exam pattern in detail before preparing for the examination.

AIIMS PG 2018 Exam Pattern in Detail

AIIMS administers AIIMS PG Exam and there will be a single question paper consisting of multiple-choice questions based on the syllabus of MBBS programmes.

The objective questions will be based on the syllabus of M.B.B.S and BDS programmes for MS/MD and MDS respectively.

  • Total number of questions:  For MS/MD: 200 objective questions. For MDS: 90 objective questions.
  • Duration: Exam duration for MS/MD will be 3 hours and for MDS will be 90 minutes.
  • Subjects or Syllabus: The objective questions for MS/MD will be included from the subjects taught at M.B.B.S level. The objective questions for MDS will be included from the subjects taught at BDS level.

AIIMS PG 2018 Marking Scheme

The conducting body AIIMS will employ negative marking for evaluation. 1/3rd marks will be deducted for incorrect answer from the total.

  • For multiple-choice questions, out of four candidates should mark only one option as the answer. 
  • The marking scheme involves negative marking where every correct answer will add one mark and incorrect answer will deduct 1/3rd marks from the total.
  • No marks will be allotted or deducted for unanswered questions.

AIIMS 2018 Important Instructions

The mode of examination is online i.e. computer based test. AIIMS PG aspirants should take a few mock tests as experience. Here are a few guidelines the aspirants should follow:

  • The test will begin exactly at the time mentioned on the admit card. A prior announcement will be made by the invigilator.
  • The duration of the exam is 3 hours for MS/MD and 1.5 hours for MDS
  • All questions will carry equal marks.
  • There will be only one correct answer for each question from the given four options.
  • Negative marking scheme will be employed for evaluating the answers. Applicants should only answer the question if they are sure about it.
  • Unanswered questions will not affect the total marks
  • One mark will be allotted for each correct answer while 1/3rd marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • Applicants are required to sign the attendance sheet.
  • Admit card should be carried along with a photo identity proof.
