WBJEE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 2017

WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2017 enlists details about nationality, age and domicile requirements, academic qualifications, marks obtained in qualifying exams and category wise domicile requirements etc for WBJEE 2017. A candidate must have a minimum aggregate of 60 % marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology and minimum of 30% marks in English language in class 12th qualifying examination.

There is a 5% relaxation in percentage for SC, ST, OBC and PwD candidates. The minimum age requirement for the WBJEE 2017 is 17 years for all the engineering /technology /pharmacy courses. The lower age limit for marine engineering is 17 years whereas the upper age limit is 25 years. A candidate must be a citizen of India to be able to apply for WBJEE. It must be noted that admission to medical courses will now be done through NEET, as directed by the Supreme Court.

WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2017- Citizenship Criteria 

WBJEE 2017 is conducted to provide admissions in various engineering colleges across India. Candidates who wish to appear for the WBJEE 2017 engineering/technology joint entrance exam need to be a citizen of India. So, only Indian nationals are eligible to apply for WBJEE, barring the International students.


WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2017- Age Criteria

WBJEEB sets a minimum and maximum age limit for various courses. Candidates applying for WBJEE must make sure that they fulfill the below-mentioned WBJEE eligibility criteria 2017:

  1. Age criteria for Engineering/Technology courses through WBJEE 2017: The minimum age of the applicant to apply for engineering is 17 years of age as on December 31, 2017. There is no upper age limit defined for the course.
  2. Age criteria for Pharmacy courses through WBJEE 2017: The lower age limit to be eligible for Pharmacy courses is 17 years of age as on December 31, 2017.
  3. Age criteria for Architecture courses through WBJEE 2017: The minimum age required to be eligible for the course is 17 years as on 31 December, 2017.There is no upper age limit defined for admission to the course.
  4. Age criteria for Marine Engineering courses through WBJEE 2017: The lower age limit required to appear for WBJEE 2017 for marine engineering is 17 years and upper age limit is 25 years.

WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2017- Domicile/Residential Requirement 

Candidates seeking admission to Government Engineering/Technology/ Pharmacy Colleges, Reserve category seats of any Institution, including TFW Category Seats must be domicile of West Bengal. The candidate must possess the same to prove that the candidate or the parents of the candidate are permanent residents of the state of West Bengal. The below mentioned residential criteria will be considered for WBJEE 2017:

  1. Candidate should be a permanent resident of the State of West Bengal since last 10 years by December 31, 2017.   
  1. Candidate’s parent(s) should be permanent resident(s) of the State of West Bengal and have permanent address proof for the same.

Domicile Certificate Submission

A domicile certificate must be submitted by the candidate in the prescribed format. There is a proforma given in the brochure for WBJEE 2017.The following steps to be followed with the proforma 1 and 2:

  1. Open the brochure and get two printouts of the Proforma 1 and 2 on an A4 size paper.
  2. Fill the form with a BLUE BALL POINT pen and get it signed by the Competent Authority mentioned in the brochure.
  3. Upload a copy of the Domicile Certificate obtained while filling the WBJEE  2017 Application Form 
  4. The duplicate copy of the form will be retained by the authority’s office for future reference.
  5. Candidate has to upload the scanned image of the document and need to retain one copy of the proforma. This has to be produced at the time of WBJEE  Counselling.

Proforma A-1

The proforma A-1 is to be filled by the candidate to prove that he/she is permanent resident of the state of West Bengal for last 10 years. This has two sheets Proforma A-1 and Proforma A-2. These have to be signed by the competent authorities before submission.

Proforma A-1 and Proforma A-2 Details:

Candidate needs to fill the following details in the proforma A-1/A-2:

  • Name of the candidate
  • Parent’s name
  • Year of passing the class 12th examination
  • Village details
  • Street details
  • Post office nearest to the street or village
  • District details
  • Assembly details of the constituency
  • Recent passport size photograph

CHECK Documents Required During WBJEE Registration

Details to be filled by the competent authority:

  • Signature
  • Designation of the officer with the seal
  • Full name of the certifying authority
  • Office address of the certifying authority
  • Phone and mobile number of the office of the certifying authority
  • ID number that is provided to the officer

Candidate’s photo is to be attested by the authority and candidate needs to sign in the place as given for signature in front of the authority.The scanned copy of Proforma A-1 has to be upload and the duplicate copy A-2 has to be given to the authorities for future reference. Proforma- B

There is a different proforma for the candidate who is not a permanent resident of the State of West Bengal. This is valid for the candidate who has one of his parent as the resident of the state of west Bengal. Following details are required to be filled by the candidate:

  • Parent’s name
  • Applicant’s name
  • House number, details of the street, village, post office ,police station, district details and assembly constituency details

Details to be filled by the competent authority:

  • Require to put the signature in the field provided
  • Designation of the officer with the seal
  • Full name of the certifying authority
  • Office address of the certifying authority
  • Phone number of the office and mobile number of the certifying authority
  • ID number that is provided to the officer

Candidate’s Photo and Candidate’s Parent’s Photograph has to be attested by the competent authority. Candidate and Candidate’s parent are required to sign in the space provided in front of the authority

  • District Magistrate, Block Development Officer Additional District Magistrate, Deputy Collector, Sub – Divisional Officer, Deputy Magistrate
  • Additional Superintendent of Police, Superintendent of Police,  Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sub Divisional Police Officer
  • Additional Commissioner, Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner of Police Commissionerate, Joint Commissioner.
  • Deputy Director or above in the Directorate to the Government of West Bengal or Central Government.
  • Judicial Magistrate of any rank or position in the concerned district or Metropolitan locality or Hon’ble High Court at Calcutta or Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
  • Corporation Area - Additional Commissioner, Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner, Joint Commissioner.
  • Assistant Secretary or above in the Secretariat to the Government of West Bengal (including GTA) or Central Government

Qualifying Marks For Engineering And Technology

  1. In Calcutta University (Other than Dept. of Jute & Fibre Technology) And Jadavpur University
  • Candidate must have passed class 12th examination from West Bengal central board or and other board equivalent and recognized
  • Candidates must have cleared the minimum cut off in Physics ,Chemistry and Mathematics individually
  • Must have obtained minimum 60 % marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the qualifying examination of class 12th for General category.
  • 55% marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics qualifying examination of class 12th for SC/ST/OBC/PWD category students.
  • Candidate must score minimum 30% marks in English in the qualifying examination of class 12th for General/ SC/ST/OBC/PWD category students.

  1. In Dept. of Jute & Fibre Technology, Calcutta University or Any other institute through WBJEE 2017:
  • Candidate must have passed class 12th examination from West Bengal central board or and other board equivalent and recognized
  • The candidate must have cleared the minimum cut off in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics individually.
  • Must have obtained minimum 45 % marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the qualifying examination of class 12th for General category
  • 40% marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics examination of class 12th for SC/ST/OBC/PWD category students.
  • The candidates must score minimum 30% marks in English in the qualifying examination of class 12th for General/ SC/ST/OBC/PWD category students.

Qualifying Marks for Marine Engineering

Candidate must have passed class 12th examination from West Bengal central board or and other board equivalent and recognized by the Education council of the state.

  • The candidate must obtain scores equal to the minimum cut off in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics individually.
  • Must have obtained minimum 60% marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the qualifying examination of class 12th for General /SC/ST/OBC/PWD category.
  • Minimum 50% marks in English in class 10th or Class 12th.

Qualifying marks for Architecture Course

This programme is offered by Jadavpur University only. The minimum qualifying marks for the admissions to this course are as follows:

  • Candidate must have passed class 12th examination from West Bengal central board or and other board equivalent and recognized by state education council.
  • Candidates must obtain marks equivalent to the minimum cut off in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics individually.
  • Must have obtained minimum 60% marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the qualifying examination of class 12th for General category.
  • Minimum 30% marks in English in Class 12th qualifying examination for General /SC/ST/OBC/PWD category.
  • Must have obtained minimum 45% marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the qualifying examination of class 12th for /SC/ST/OBC/PWD category.
  • The candidate must successfully pass the NATA 2017 (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) or JEE AdvancedExamination 2017 for Architecture.

For other institutes, the minimum qualifying marks are given below:

  • Candidate must have passed class 12th examination from West Bengal central board or and other board equivalent and recognized by the State Educational Council.
  • NATA 2017 (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) or JEE Advanced Examination 2017 must be cleared by the candidate
  • Class 12th examination must be passed with minimum of 50% marks and mathematics as one of the compulsory subject.

Qualifying marks for Pharmacy Course

For admission to the pharmacy course as offered by Jadavpur University. Following details are given:

  • >Candidate must have passed class 12th examination from West Bengal central board or other board equivalent and recognized by state education council
  • The candidates must satisfy the minimum cut off in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics individually.
  • The candidates must have obtained minimum 60% marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the qualifying examination of class 12th for General category.
  • Minimum 30% marks in English in Class 12th qualifying examination for General/SC/ST/OBC/PWD category.
  • Must have obtained minimum 45% marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the qualifying examination of class 12th for /SC/ST/OBC/PWD category.

For admission to the pharmacy course offered by other colleges. Following are the details:

  • Candidate must have passed class 12th examination from West Bengal central board or and other board equivalent and recognized
  • The candidate must satisfy the minimum cut off in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics individually.
  • Must have obtained minimum 45% marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the qualifying examination of class 12th for General category
  • 40% marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics examination of class 12th for SC/ST/OBC/PWD category students.
  • The candidates must score minimum 30% marks in English in the qualifying examination of class 12th for General/ SC/ST/OBC/PWD category students.

WBJEE 2017 Application Form

Filling the WBJEE 2017 Application Form has concluded nowCandidates who fulfill the WBJEE 2017 Eligibility Criteria can apply for WBJEE 2017 Regsitrations. Post filling the online WBJEE 2017 Application Form, candidates shall receive the WBJEE  Admit Card 2017. The form is available and is submitted online on the official website, i.e. wbjeeb.in.

The Registrations for WBJEE 2017 involves five steps:

  2. Filling the Form
  3. Uploading the Documents
  4. Fee Payment
  5. Confirmation Page and Submission

WBJEE 2017 Application fee is INR 500. The bank charges are additional. The mode of payment for WBJEE 2017 is both online and offline. If the candidate chooses to pay through online mode, then it can be through internet banking/credit or debit card. The E-challan is to be obtained in case the candidate chooses to pay through offline mode. Candidates are required to upload a list of documents in the mentioned sizes which include the candidate’s photograph, signature, Left hand Thumb Impression, Admit card of Class 12th, Domicile certificate, Reservation/cast certificate and income certificate.
