WBJEE Counselling 2017- Procedure, Schedule, Registration, Fee

WBJEE Counselling 2017 is scheduled to be conducted from June 15 to July 19, 2017 (tentatively). WBJEE Result 2017 will be declared on June 5, 2017. There will be 3 rounds of seat allotment for candidates who meet the WBJEE Cut off for various institutes and courses.

During WBJEE Counselling 2017, candidates are required to register themselves separately on the official site of WBJEE Board and pay a registration fee of INR 500/-. Candidates will have to fill their choices and lock them. After declaration of seat allotment results on the official website, candidates will be required to report for verification of documents and provisional admission.

There will be a separate WBJEE Counselling 2017 round for candidates securing All India ranks in JEE Main 2016. WBJEE Counselling 2017 for JEE Main 2017 AIR Rank Holders will run from July 3, 2017 till July 19, 2017. WBJEE 2017 will be conducted on April 23, 2017 for offering admission to various Engineering courses in the state of West Bengal. All the candidates who have successfully qualified in WBJEE  are required to participate in WBJEE 2016 Counselling Procedure for seat allotment and subsequent processes.

WBJEE Counselling 2017 on the basis of JEE Main 2017

The candidates who wish to apply on the basis of their marks obtained in JEE Main 2017, can also participate in WBJEE 2017 counselling process. The schedule followed for such candidates is provided below.:

What is the WBJEE 2017 Counselling Procedure?

WBJEE Counselling 2017 would involve centralized computer based choice filling and seat allotment process. After completion of each round of seat allotment, candidates are required to report for document verification and submission of tuition fee for provisional admission.

The WBJEE 2017 counselling procedure is entirely same for both WBJEE qualifiers and JEE main AIR holders. It can be divided broadly into 5 stepsfor a candidate to gain admission in their preferred course and institute. These steps are –

  5. Confirmation and Admission

Step 1: Online Registration

  • WBJEE Counselling 2017 will be conducted online and the first step for the candidate is registration. The candidate needs to visit the official website of WBJEE Counselling 2017 i.e. wbjeeb.nic.in and click on “New Candidate Registration”.
  • The candidate will need to furnish details such as WBJEE Roll Number, Application Form Number, Candidate Name, Date of Birth and a Security Pin. After registration is done successfully, an ID and password will be generated.
  • The candidate is advised to note these login credentials for future use. It may be noted that the candidates will be required to pay an amount of INR 510 to complete the process of WBJEE 2017 counselling registration.

Step 2: Choice Filling

  • This is the next step of the counselling process. The candidates will be required to log into their accounts using the ID and Password generated in the previous step. After this, the candidates can select their choice of participating colleges and courses.
  • candidates must be careful to lock their final choices before the given dates, specified in the table above. The option to edit and submit the final choice will expire on the due date at 5:00 pm and the choices filled so far will be locked automatically. Hence, students are advised to ensure that they have filled their choices carefully.

Step 3: Seat Allotment

After the choice filling process is over, the candidates will be allotted seats based on their ranks and preference. This process will also be carried online and the students will be required to check the seats allocated to them by logging into their accounts.

Step 4: Reporting and Document Verification

  • Those candidates who have been allocated a seat will be required to physically report at the Reporting Centre (RC). This is the next step in the counselling process and is mandatory.
  • Candidates will be required to carry all necessary documents to the reporting centre as the verification of these documents will take place at the RC. The initial admission fee will also have to be paid at this stage. The fee amount for TFW (Tuition Fee Waiver scheme) candidates is INR 4000 and for others it is INR 5000.

Step 5: Confirmation and Admission

The final step for the candidates should personally visit the institute that they have been allotted to them for completing admission formalities. In a case where the candidate is unable to report at the specified institute or fails to do so, the provisional admission of such candidate will be withdrawn.

After the seat allocation has been done, candidates should report in-person at the Reporting Centre (RC) with all required documents. Here, the verification of these documents will take place and the candidate will be offered admission into an institute.

Documents Required for WBJEE Counselling 2017

Candidates will need to physically report at the Reporting Centres upon being allocated a seat. There are some essential documents that they will have to carry along as they will be subject to verification at the Reporting centre.
