WBJEE 2017 Application Form, Registration, Fee

WBJEE 2017 Application form was to be last filled by February 4, 2017 on the official site of WBJEE i.e. www.wbjeeb.nic.in. WBJEE image correction window closed on February 20. Personal, academic and many other details were required to be filled in and submitted correctly in the application form. Candidates could pay the WBJEE Application Fee (INR 500) through either online or offline mode. WBJEE Admit Card 2017 will only be issued to candidates who successfully fill the WBJEE 2017 Application Form. 

To apply for WBJEEa candidate should have at least secured 60 % in the qualifying examination (55% for reserved categories). The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) conducts the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) for admission to Undergraduate Courses Engineering & Technology and Architecture in the Universities, Govt. Colleges and Self Financed Institutes of West Bengal.

WBJEE 2017 Registration Dates

In order to appear for WBJEE 2017, candidates must know the important dates and deadlines. WBJEE 2017 is scheduled for April 23, 2017. The registrations of WBJEE 2017 concluded in February. The other essestial dates relating to WBJEE 2017 Application Form are given below:

WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2017

WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2017 requires a candidate to pass Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognized Council/Board. Candidates who fulfil the WBJEE eligibility criteria 2017, set by the WBJEE board, will only qualify for admission through the entrance test.

  1. For admission to Engineering & Technology, and Pharmacy and Architecture courses, the candidates should have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects in the qualifying examination.
  • Candidates should have at least secured 60 % in the qualifying examination in the relevant subjects. (55% for SC/ST/ PwD/OBC-A/OBC-B candidates) and passed in English with a minimum of 30% marks (for all categories of candidates) in the qualifying examination for admission to Calcutta and Jadavpur University.
  • Candidates should have at least secured 45 % in the qualifying examination in the relevant subjects. (40% for SC/ST/ PwD/OBC-A/OBC-B candidates) and passed in English with a minimum of 30% marks (for all categories of candidates) in the qualifying examination for admission to other technical institutions/departments in the state.
  1. For admission to Medical and Dental Courses, the candidates should have at least passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. Candidates should have obtained at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences taken together (40% for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B candidates, 45% for Pwd candidates) and 30% marks in English (for candidates from all categories) in the qualifying examination.

WBJEE 2017 Registration

Registration for WBJEE 2017 will be done online. This means that candidates will not be able to submit the application by hand or by post. Candidates should go to official website of WBJEEB to get access WBJEE Form and click on ‘Online Application WBJEE 2017’. They will be redirected to the WBJEE Form.

To submit the application fees, candidates have the option to pay either through Debit / Credit Card (online) or through Allahabad Bank Challan (offline).

Important instructions for filling WBJEE Form 2017

Candidates should pay close heed to the important instructions and ensure the WBJEE eligibility criteria 2017 before filling-in WBJEE 2017 Application Form. If the Application Form for WBJEE 2017 is not filled up accurately or if any mistakes are made in the application form the candidate’s application form may be rejected.

  • While stating their personal information, candidates should be sure of providing the correct address, date of birth etc. Don’t provide wrong/unused mobile number in WBJEE Form.
  • If candidates are new applicant, then they will be asked to sign-up as a ‘New Applicant’. In the sign-up process candidates should make a password and keep a security question. They should not divulge these details to anyone and use it for all future logins.
  • When uploading the photograph, left thumb impression and signature, candidates should make sure that they are following guidelines provided in the online application form. Don’t upload poorly scanned photograph and thumb impression.
  • The signature of the candidate should not be in capital letters. Candidates should scan their full signature and upload as per specifications.
  • Candidates should not make mistakes while choosing the district and examination zones for the Exam.
  • Candidates claiming reservation are advised not to claim reservation until & unless they have valid documents specified for claiming reservation.
  • After the WBJEE Form is completely filled, keep a copy of the confirmation page.
  • All applications will be submitted online and hence no documents will be sent to West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board.

WBJEE 2017 Registration Process/ Signing up

In the first section of WBJEE Application Form 2017, candidates are required to fill their details. After this, applicants will get their unique application number. Candidates should also generate a unique password in addition to application number which would help them to complete WBJEE 2017 Registration Process successfully. The steps to be followed for the first section are indicated below:

  1. The applicants should fill their personal details to register as new candidate.
  2. After the form is filled, an application number will be provided to the candidate who then can use it for future references and this number must be kept with the candidate until the admission process finishes.
  3. Applicants will be using the Application no. and a Password for all subsequent login.
  4. For creating a Password for login, candidates should generate a unique password and a security question and an answer. It is advised that applicants do not share the password and security questions and answer with anyone else.
  5. In case the candidate forgets their password, they will be asked to answer the security question which they had selected while setting up the password. Hence, it is important to remember this question-answer pair for quick recovery of password.
  6. If the candidates forget the security question-answer pair, a new password would be sent to the personal email address or phone number. Therefore, a valid email id and password should be provided at the time of registration.
  7. In the WBJEE Form, applicant will fill their name, father’s name, mother’s name, domicile and date of birth. Candidates should note that these details must be unique for each application.
  8. After filling the application form, generation of application number and choosing of password and security question, candidates may log-out or continue to the next step of uploading the documents.

How to fill WBJEE 2017 Application Form?

WBJEE 2017 application form has three sections, all of which have to be filled in compulsorily. These sections are online filling up of form, uploading of documents, and payment of application fee. The WBJEE Form will begin like this:

Step 1: Filling details in WBJEE 2017 Application Form

The various sections in WBJEE 2017 Application Form require the candidates to fill ‘Personal Details’, ‘Course Details’, ‘Educational Details of Class 10th and 12th’, ‘Communication Details’, ‘Password’ and ‘Security Pin’.

The communication details are the next section to be filled up by candidate. Step 2: Uploading Documents in WBJEE 2017 Application Form

Candidates have to upload certain documents as per specifications provided by the board, before submitting the WBJEE 2017 Application Form. The documents as applicable for different categories have to be uploaded. No documents would be sent by post to WEEB.   

On basis of the receipt of the documents online, admit card will be issued to candidates who are found eligible for exam. All documents and certificates will be checked thoroughly. If the documents or certificates are found faulty, the candidate will be immediately disqualified from any further process of.

The important documents required for submitting WBJEE 2017 Application Form are as follows:

  • Recent colored passport size photographs
  • Signature
  • Left hand thumb impression (LTI)
  • Admit card/ registration certificate/ mark sheet of 10th standard, where date of birth is mentioned or birth certificate
  • Domicile certificate (if applicable)
  • SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B  caste certificate (if applicable)
  • PwD certificate (if applicable)
  • Income certificate (if applicable)

Important features of the photograph

Candidates will have to upload photograph and signature to complete the Application process of WBJEE 2017.Candidates should adhere to the specification laid down by the WBJEE board. These guidelines are mentioned below:

  • The photo uploaded by the candidate must be in colour taken after Dec 31, 2016.
  • It is preferred that the photo is taken in a professional studio. Uploading a photograph taken on mobile phones or self composed portraits will lead to rejection of the application
  • The background of the photograph must be of very light colour so that it shows the face of candidate clearly.
  • 50% area of the photograph should be covered with candidate’s face looking into the camera directly.
  • It is advised that the candidates do not wear spectacles of dark or tinted glasses in the photo.
  • All features of the face must be visible clearly. Forehead, eyes, nose and chin must not be covered by shadow, cloth or hair of the head.
  • Lastly, the photo uploaded by the candidate must match the candidate at the time of examination.

Required Certificates

There are some additional certificates which the candidates claiming reservation have to upload along with the passport size photo, signature, thumb print and class 10th Admit Card.

If claiming reservation, applicants have to upload Domicile Certificate, SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B certificate, PwD certificate or Income Certificate, depending on the reservation criteria the candidate is claiming. The certificates required as per reservation criteria are as follows:

  1. The candidates claiming Residential criteria need to upload any one of the three types of certificates from the following:
  1. Stating the residential criteria claim
  2. A proof that the candidate has completed their Higher Education in West Bengal.
  3. The candidates who are not residing in the State of West Bengal but whose parent(s) is (are) permanent resident(s) of West Bengal having their permanent home address within West Bengal.
  • The residential/ domicile certificate stating the residential criteria claim must be exactly in the prescribed format. 
  • The residential/ domicile certificate stating that the candidate has completed their Higher Education in West Bengal must be exactly in the format given below. 
  • The candidates who are not residing in the State of West Bengal but whose parent(s) is (are) permanent resident(s) of West Bengal having their permanent home address within West Bengal have to upload the residential/ domicile certificate

  1. Candidates claiming SC/ST reservation have to submit certificates issued by competent authority as specified on the date prior to submission of online application form. The certificates are to be issued by the any of the following authorities in case the candidate lives within such jurisdictions:
  • Deputy Collector of Land Revenue, Kolkata
  • Collector of Stamp Revenue, Kolkata
  • Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata

  1. Candidates claiming OBC-A/ OBC-B reservation have to submit certificates issued by competent authority as specified on the date prior to submission of online WBJEE Form. The certificates are to be issued by the any of the following authorities:
  • Backward Classes Welfare Department. Govt. of W.B.
  • The Sub Divisional Officer of a Sub-Division
  • The District Welfare Officer, Kolkata
  • Ex-officio Joint Director, BCW
  1. Candidates claiming PwD reservation have to submit certificates issued by competent authority as specified on the date prior to submission of online application form. The certificates are to be issued by the any of the following authorities:
  • Officer-in-Charge or Medical Head of Primary Health Centres
  • Block Primary Health Centres
  • State General Hospitals
  • Rural Hospitals
  • Sub-Divisional Hospitals or the District Hospitals run by the State Government or any hospital run by a statutory body or authority
  1. The candidates seeking sears under Tuition Fee Waiver scheme have to submit the Income certificate in the format prescribed by the board.

Step 3: Payment of WBJEE 2017 Application Fee

For the payment of the fees, candidates will have two options: Paying through Debit/ Credit Card or through Bank Challan.

Online Mode: Candidates can pay the fee through Debit Card/Credit card. A successful payment will lead the candidate to print the ‘Confirmation Page’.

Offline Mode: Candidates can also pay offline through Bank Challan. To do this, applicants will click on this option and a challan will be generated. The challan will contain the details of the candidate along with the amount to be paid.

Applicant will then take a print out of this challan and to the Branch of the Allahabad Bank for making payment.

The application fee for different courses under WBJEE 2017 is indicated in the table below.

WBJEE 2017 Application Form Confirmation

After the payment of fees, candidates will be redirected to the ‘Confirmation Page’. Candidates will take a print of the confirmation page or save a pdf copy of the confirmation page and log out.

If the applicant can view the confirmation page, it means that their application has been successfully submitted and their WBJEE 2017 Registration has been completed.


WBJEE 2017 Application Form Correction

Candidates will have the option to make correction in case there is some errors in the WBJEE 2017 Application Form. They can edit WBJEE 2017 Application form by logging in on their WBJEE profile.

The WBJEE 2017 Application Form Correction can be made from February 6 – February 8, 2017. During this period, candidates can make corrections with concern to errors in date of birth, gender, reservation category, PwD status, TFW status, or in any uploaded document. All the applicants should login with their Registration number and password to make the necessary corrections.

No other modifications in the data will be allowed by the applicant. Also, no correction in the application form can be made after the last date is over for making corrections.

The details of the changes that can be made in the WBJEE 2017 Application Form are mentioned below:

  • Change in the exam type is allowed. However, modification to "C" type would need additional payment of a hundred rupees for which the student has to approach the Board
  • Changes in category i.e. OP (general) to SC/ST/OBC require uploading of documents.
  • Any change from PWD= NO to YES requires the uploading of documents (as proper proof is needed)
  • Any change of domicile from 'Other State' to 'West Bengal' requires the uploading of documents.
  • Any change of income category to < 2.5 Lakh requires the uploading of documents.
  • Partial change is possible, that means if student also requested for change of the Father's name along with change in category, the change of the father's name will take place, but the changes remains unfinished until the relevant documents are uploaded within the deadline.
  • The reverse change in any of the above condition (SC->OP, PWD 'YES' -> PwD 'NO' etc.) would be automatically effected and the originally uploaded document would stand null and void.
  • If a student requested to change his/her Domicile status, then he/she has to change their choice of test zone. Otherwise, no student is allowed to change his/her choice of exam zone.
  • If students have uploaded wrong photograph, signature or thumb impression. They have been informed through SMS. They can use the relevant interface to upload correct images. No other student is allowed to upload image at this stage.

The following fields cannot be edied in the WBJEE 2017 Application Form:

  • Candidate’s Name
  • Mother’s Name
  • Father’s Name
  • Date of Birth

How to edit/correct mistakes in WBJEE 2017 Online Application Form:

  • Go to the official website of WBJEE 2017
  • Click on "View Entire Application Data"
  • Enter WBJEE 2017 Application Number and Password and login
  • If Students are not able to login
  • Click on "I cannot access my account"
  • Get WBJEE 2017 Application Number Or Password
  • Enter Correct Application Number and Password

In case the candidates need to check the corrections in the WBJEE 2017, they can check the same in the WBJEE 2017 Application Form issued to them by WBJEE.


WBJEE 2017 Admit Card

The candidates who have successfully submitted the application form will be able to download the WBJEE Admit Card 2017 from 1st week of April, 2017. The admit card will be available for download on the official site of WBJEE 2017. Applicants need to login with their Registration number and password to download and keep a printout for all future purposes.

It is an important document to be carried to the examination centre or else the candidate won’t be allowed to appear for the examination. Applicants will carry the downloaded hard copy of the admit card along with same photographs which were uploaded on the application form.


WBJEE 2017 Exam Centre

Applicants will be provided the option to choose their WBJEE 2017 Examination Centre from the available options at the time of filling the application form. Candidates can appear in any exam centre across 21 districts in West Bengal. WBJEE 2017 would be also conducted in Agartala, Tripura and Silchar, Assam.  Candidates can opt for 3 test centres in order of preference while filling WBJEE 2017 Application form

However, the final decision will be of the Board in allocating the Exam Centre. The board will not entertain any request for change in the exam centre. It is possible that any examination zone may be dropped if adequate numbers of candidates are not available. In such a situation, candidates will be informed well in time for the examination.
