VITEEE Exam Pattern 2017/ Paper Pattern, Marking Scheme

VITEEE Exam Pattern for the academic year 2017-18 will not observe any change in its pattern. VIT University will follow the same exam pattern as that of 2016. VITEEE paper pattern will help candidates understand various important elements related to the entrance exam viz. nature of questions, marking scheme, subject-wise marks distribution, total number of questions, etc. VITEEE 2017 will be held from April 5 to 16, 2017.

VITEEE is a computer based test where questions are asked from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English or Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. VIT Entrance Exam is a multiple choice type questions test and there is no negative marking for wrong answers. There will be a total of 125 questions. Each section will have 40 questions barring English. One mark will be awarded for each correct answer. The exam will be of 2 hours 30 minutes.

VITEEE Paper Pattern

The duration of VITEEE 2017 is 2 hours and 30 minutes. It would be conducted in three sessions per day. The medium of exam is English. The slot booking options for VITEEE 2017 will be available on the official website from March-2017 onwards. The exam session timings are as following:

Candidates appearing for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are eligible for all the 14 B. Tech Programs offered by VIT. Those who attempt Physics, Chemistry & Biology are eligible for B. Tech. Bio-Medical Engineering, Biotechnology and Computer Science and Engineering (Spec. in Bioinformatics) programs only

The exam pattern for VITEEE 2017 followed by the institute is multiple choice type questions. There are a total of 125 questions for both the options. Part I, Part II and Part III has 40 questions each while English has 5 questions.

VITEEE 2017 Marking Scheme

Candidates will have to click on one out of four options given in the paper. Candidates will be awarded one mark for each correct response. They can make thoughtful guesses as there is no provision of negative marking for incorrect response. The below table represents the marking scheme for all sections of VITEEE Exam Pattern.

The Computer based question paper for VITEEE 2017 is set on the syllabus of State Board of Higher Secondary Education and the CBSE syllabus only. Candidates can go through the VITEEE 2017 syllabus provided below:

There are 5 multiple choice questions from English (Question Nos. 121 to 125). There are 3 Comprehension questions which consist of either short passage of 30-50 lines or few lines of poems or else dialogue – 2 exchanges (Ques No. 121, 122 and 123). There will be 2 questions based on English Grammar and Pronunciation (Ques No. 124 and 125).

The passages, lines of poems, dialogues, grammar, etc. are selected according to the level of this exam. Candidates are advised to carefully read the texts and the questions that follow and pick the right option for each question.

VITEEE Sample Paper 2017

The sample papers for VITEEE 2017 will help candidates prepare well for the practical assessment. They will provide an overview of the various types of questions that would feature in the Computer based question paper.

The sample questions for VITEEE 2017 and previous year question papers must be practiced as much as possible. Candidates should try to identify the important topics and questions that have come in the previous year VITEEE question papers. They can set timers to assess their accuracy and speed in answering all the questions. There are separate sample questions for all the subjects.

VITEEE 2016 Paper Analysis 

VITEEE 2016 was conducted successfully on April 6, 2016, across 112 cities in India. It was a moderate to difficult level exam. Generally, most of the questions are asked from the prescribed syllabus of VIT. The VITEEE Physics paper is moderate difficulty level paper. The questions are asked from various topics such as Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Current, Energy and Power, Properties of Matter, Laws of Motion & Work, Current Electricity, etc.

The difficulty level of the VITEEE Chemistry Paper is again moderate. The topics with most number of questions are Thermodynamics, Chemical Equilibrium, Atomic Structure p,d and f – Block Elements, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics and Chemical Equilibrium. The VITEEE Mathematics section can be described as easy to moderate difficulty paper. The questions are evenly distributed among all the sections.

VITEEE Biology paper is the most difficult among all the sections of VITEEE 2016. The questions are asked from different chapters like Genetics and evolution, Cell and Molecular Biology, Taxonomy, Reproduction and Human health & diseases. The VITEEE English paper is relatively easy. The questions are asked from English Grammar, Pronunciation and Comprehension.

The paper was close to the declared VITEEE exam pattern. The questions were conceptual questions and so it would be advised that students work on their basic conceptual knowledge and fundamentals.

In addition to these remarks, the candidates found the physics section to be tough as compared to what was expected; however there were direct questions in the paper. The candidates also found that the test comprised of less analytical questions.
