UPSEE 2017 Eligibility

UPSEE 2017 (Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination) is conducted by Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), U.P. each year for admissions to under graduate engineering courses. UPSEE Eligibity Critera may vary for different courses. Candidates applying for UPSEE 2017 undergraduate courses must have passed 10+2 exams from a recognized Board / University. 

  • Candidates must have scored minimum 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ ST category) in aggregate in 3 manadatory subjects. 
  • There is reservation for categories such as Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), OBC, defence quota, girl child etc. 
  • The provisions of reservation of seats are both horizontal and vertical.
  • Students having a 3 years Diploma in Architecture (10+3) recognized by Central / State Government are also eligible to apply for B. Arch.

UPSEE 2017 Eligibility Criteria for B.TECH./B.PHARM./B.ARCH./BHMCT/BFAD/BFA 

Below stated are the lists of UPSEE Eligibility Criteria 2017 for B.Tech., B.Tech. Biotechnology, B.Arch., B.Tech. Agriculture Engineering, B. Pharm:-

  • Candidate must have passed intermediate examination of U.P. Board or 10+2 level examination or its equivalent from any recognized Board / University.
  • They must have passed without grace in each of the compulsory subjects and one optional subject to fill the UPSEE 2017 Application Form.
  • Students must have secured minimum 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ ST category) in aggregate in the required three subjects.
  • Applixants having a three years Diploma in Architecture (10+3) recognized by Central / State Government are also eligible for admission in first year of B. Arch. only, subject to the condition that candidate has passed the Diploma examination with minimum 50% marks in aggregate without grace. They will also be required to appear in the entrance examination for first year of B. Arch. Paper 4.

Note: Those candidates eligible for admission in the B.Tech. programme, are also eligible for B.Tech. (Agriculture Engineering) and B.Tech. (Biotechnology). 

BHMCT/BFAD/BFA Courses

•   Candidates must have passed Class XII from UP Board or equivalent exam from any recognized board and from any discipline.

MBA/MCA/Integrated MBA Courses

•   Candidates must hold a bachelor degree from any recognized university with the minimum 50% for general category and 45% for SC/ST category.

•   They must have passed with Mathematics in Class XII or graduation level to be eligible for admission in MCA program.

•   For Integrated MBA Course (Dual degree), candidates must have cleared Class XII from UP Board or equivalent exam from any recognized board.

UPSEE 2017 Eligibility Criteria for Lateral Entry

Candidates have the provision of lateral entry also. For Lateral Entry in the B. Tech. courses the following UPSEE Eligibility Criteria are followed:

  • Direct Admission (Lateral Entry) in the second year of B.Arch. programme is not allowed.
  • Lateral entry in B.Tech. for Engg. Diploma holders or B.Sc. Graduates with Mathematics as one of the subject at XII standard, is offered in the institutions affiliated to AKTU, Lucknow only.

Eligibility Criteria for admission to second year in any branch of Engineering / Technology (Lateral Entry):-

  • Passed three years Engg. Diploma from a U.P. Institution, with minimum 45% marks (40% for SC/ ST)
Or
  • Parents (father or mother) with domicile of Uttar Pradesh and passed three years Engg. Diploma with minimum 45% marks (40% for SC/ ST) recognized by the Board of Technical Education, U.P., in any branch of Engineering (except Agriculture Engg., Pharmacy and Architecture).
  • Passed three years B.Sc. degree from any recognized University with minimum 45% marks (40% for SC/ ST) in aggregate and passed XII standard with mathematics as one of the subjects.

Eligibility Criteria for admission to second year of Agriculture Engg. (Lateral Entry):

  • Passed three years Diploma in Agriculture Engg. from a U.P. Institution with minimum 45% marks (40% for SC/ ST) Or
  • Parents (father or mother) with domicile of U.P. and passed three years Diploma in Agriculture Engg. with minimum 45% marks (40% for SC/ ST) from an institution recognized by the Board of Technical Education, U.P.

Eligibility Criteria for admission to second year of B. Pharm

•   Candidates must be a B.Sc Graduate or 2/3 years Diploma in Pharmacy with mathematics subject in Class XII standard.

Eligibility Criteria for admission to second year of MCA

•   Candidate must hold a bachelor degree of minimum three years in BCA/B.Sc (IT/Computer Application).

•   Candidate should have secured minimum 50% aggregate (for general candidates) and 45% marks (for SC/ST candidates).

Note: Lateral entry in B.Arch./BHMCT/BFAD/BFA/MBA courses is not permitted.


UPSEE 2017 Eligibility Criteria for NRI

Given below is UPSEE 2017 eligibility applicable for NRI quota for admission into the first year:

  • NRI candidates are required to fulfil the following eligibility criteria to get direct admission on the 5% seats of the total intake in State Funded and Private Institutions of Uttar Pradesh in all B.Tech., B.Arch. courses.
  • However, candidates under NRI category, opting for the B.Arch. programme will be required to appear in Aptitude Test on the day of counselling.

The NRI quota seats (5%) will be filled in the following manner:

  1. NRIs, who have fulfil the following two criteria:
    • Passed the qualifying examination, which is considered equivalent to 10+2 examination by the Association of Indian Universities, from an Institution which is outside India, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. OR Passed High School Certificate Education (GCE) examination with Physics, Chemistry and Higher Mathematics (A) from London / Cambridge / Sri Lanka.
    • Taken the SAT II examination with Mathematics level II C, Physics and Chemistry. The relative merit will be decided on the basis of the SAT-II score.
  2. If any vacant seats are left after the above, they will be filled up by son/ daughter /real brother/ real sister of NRIs. They must have passed intermediate or (10+2) or equivalent examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, without grace. They must also secure minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ ST) in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (in aggregrate of these three), from an institution in India.
  3. The children of real brother/ sisters and son/ daughter of NRIs may be considered in case the seats remain vacant after admitting the eligible NRI, their son/ daughter and real brother/ sister.
  4. The relative merit of the eligible NRI candidates will be decided on the basis of the total marks obtained by them in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. These candidates are not required to appear in UPSEE 2017.
  5. Candidates under this quota, must submit an NRI certificate obtained from Indian Diplomatic Mission / Chancellery / High Commission under their seal, at the time of counselling.
  6. They are also required to submit sufficient documents clarifying without any ambiguity, their true relationship with the sponsoring NRI, to the satisfaction of the University.
  7. Those candidates who apply under this quota, will be informed separately about the date of counselling, and the final number of seats under this quota. They must be present in person on the day of counselling with original documents/ certificates, and failing to do so will result in losing the claim for a seat under this quota.

Eligibility for admission to Foreign National (FN)/ Persons of Indian Origins (PIO)/ Children of Indian Workers in Gulf countries (CIWGC) in first year

The seats for the FN/ PIO/ CIWGC seats will be filled by Foreign Nationals / PIO/ CIWGC who:

  1. Have passed the qualifying examination, which is considered equivalent to (10+2) examination by the Association of Indian Universities, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  2. Possess a valid SAT-II score with Mathematics level II C, Physics and Chemistry.
  3. Must submit a copy of passport or equivalent evidence in support of their nationality. The relative merit for candidates will be decided on the basis of the SAT-II score.

UPSEE 2017 Eligibility Criteria for Direct Admission to Private Institutions 

Given below is UPSEE 2017 Eligibility Criteria for Direct Admission to Private Institutions under Management Quota (for NRI candidates)/ Vacant seats after counselling of UPSEE 2017

  • 15% seats in private institutions will be filled by the NRI candidates under management quota.
  • The vacant seats in NRI/ Management quota or the vacant seats after UPSEE 2017 counselling will be filled in the preference order given below, within fifteen days of the last date of counselling:
  1. First, by the qualified candidates of JEE (Main) 2017 who fulfil the eligibility criteria for B.Tech./ B.Arch programmes. The relative merit will be decided on the basis of their ranks in the respective entrance examinations.
  2. Second, by the qualified candidates of UPSEE 2017, the relative merit will be decided on the basis of their ranks in UPSEE 2017.
  3. Third, by the merit of applicants in the qualifying examination with the following conditions

Given below is UPSEE 2017 Eligibility Criteria for Direct Admission to Private Institutions in second year under Vacant seats after counselling of UPSEE 2017 

  • After UPSEE 2017 counselling for lateral entry (second year), the vacant seats for the B. Tech. Programme will be filled within 15 days of the last date of counselling, at institute level, firstly by the eligible, qualified candidates of UPSEE 2017 (the relative merit will be decided on the basis of the ranks in UPSEE 2017).
  • If any seats still remain vacant, they will be filled on the basis of merit by candidates who have passed the qualifying examination with minimum marks of 50% (45% for SC/ ST) in aggregate, without any grace marks.

Category Definitions for UPSEE 2017

The various categories accepted for reservation in UPSEE 2017 are detailed below:

  1. General (OPEN) seats:

Candidates, who have passed the qualifying examination or equivalent, from an institution situated in the state of Uttar Pradesh and who have not claimed any reserved category seat, are eligible for admission to B. Tech/ B.Arch. programmes at all the institutions against available General (OPEN) seats.

Certificate Requirement: They are not required to produce any category certificate for admission. 

Category code: UPGE

  1. Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribe/ Other Backward Classes:

Candidates, who have passed the qualifying examination from an institution situated in the state of Uttar Pradesh and are domicile of U.P. and belong to Scheduled Caste (SC) of U.P./ Schedule Tribe (ST) of U.P./ Other Backward Classes of U.P. are eligible for admission to B.Tech/ B.Arch. programmes, against the available reserved seats under this category.

Certificate Requirement: They are required to produce Certificate No. 1 or 2, as applicable.

Category code:  UPSC / UPST/ UPBC

  1. General (Qualifying Exam outside UP, with parent’s domicile):

Candidates, who have passed the qualifying examination from an institution situated outside the state of Uttar Pradesh and whose parents are domicile of U.P., and who have not claimed any seats under any reserved category, are also eligible for admission to courses offered at all institutions under General (OPEN) category for admission to B.Tech/ B.Arch. programmes.

Certificate Requirement: They are required the domicile certificate of his/her parents (Father or Mother only) at the time of counselling (Certificate No. 3 is required from such candidates).

Category code:  UPGD

  1. Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribe/ Other Backward Classes (Qualifying Exam outside UP, with parent’s domicile):

Candidates, who have passed the qualifying examination from an institution situated outside the state of Uttar Pradesh and whose parents are domicile of U.P., and who belong to Schedule Caste of U.P. / Schedule Tribe of U.P. / Other Backward classes of U.P. are eligible for admission to B.Tech/ B.Arch. programmes, against the available reserved seats under this category.

Certificate Requirement: They are required to produce the domicile certificate of his/ her parents (Father or Mother only) (Certificate No. 3) and Category Certificate (Certificate No. 1 or 2 as applicable) at the time of counselling.

Category code:  GDSC/GDST/GDBC

  1. Defence Category:

The domicile requirement for the son/ daughter of following is relaxed: (i) defence personnel settled in U.P. on the date of Entrance Examination after retirement/ being disabled in action or Defence personnel killed in action and the dependents settled in U.P. on the date of Entrance Examination. (ii) defence personnel who are not domicile of U.P., but are posted in U.P. on the date of Entrance Examination. (iii) employee of All India Services belonging to U. P. cadre.

Certificate Requirement: Certificate no. 5 is required for candidates belonging to (i) and (ii) and Certificate no. 11 is required for (iii).

Category code: GDDA

GDDA candidates will be considered as UPGD category for all other benefits. (Certificate no. 5 is required.

  1. Outside U.P., Non- Domicile:

Candidates, who have passed the qualifying examination from an institution situated outside the state of U.P. and whose parents are not domicile of U.P. These candidates, along with candidates of the other categories, will be considered only against 10% of the sanctioned intake of first year in B.Tech./ B.Arch. programmes in the private institutions affiliated to AKTU, Lucknow.

Certificate Requirement: They are not required to produce any category certificate for admission.

Reservation of Seats for UPSEE 2017

Horizontal reservation in Armed force sub-category is available to the sons or daughters of ‘defence personnel of U.P. either retired (Superannuated) or killed/ disabled in action, and the dependents settled in U.P.’ or ‘the defence personnel posted in U.P.’ on the date of UPSEE 2017 examination.

Note:

  • Candidates will be given only one type of horizontal reservation out of UPFF/ UPAF/ UPHC. However, the girl candidates can claim for any one of UPFF/ UPAF/ UPHC, along with UPGL.
  • Any requests for the change of category/ sub- category filled in UPSEE Application Form will not be entertained.
  • Candidates must produce all the relevant Category/ sub- category certificates in the support of their claim at the time of counselling. If a candidate claiming a seat under reservation fails in producing these certificates at the time of counselling, he/ she will be treated as General Category candidate.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission to Fee-Waiver Seats

Economically weaker meritorious candidates applying for B.Tech/ B.Pharm/B.HMCT/B.FAD/BFA courses can get admission to fee waiver seats in all institutions affiliated to AKTU, Lucknow as per AICTE notification fee. No tuition fee will be charged from these candidates. Fee Waiver seats will be maximum of 5% of the approved intake in the particular course. The eligible applicants must submit Income Certificate i.e.Ccertificate no. 12 at the time of counselling process. It is important to note that no Tution Fee Waiver seats are available for B.Arch. Courses.
