UPSEE MBA 2017 Results

UPSEE MBA 2017 (Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination) is held by Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam Technical University, Uttar Pradesh (AKTU).

UPSEE MBA 2017 is conducted for admission to First Year undergraduate courses in MBA in colleges/ institutions located in Uttar Pradesh.

UPSEE MBA Result will be declared in last week of May, 2017. Soon after the result is announced, the Counselling procedure of UPSEE MBA will begin around, end of June, 2017  

The candidates can check their result on the official website. The counselling process will be also notified on these official websites.

After the result of UPSEE MBA 2017 is declared, candidates have to register themselves to go through the counselling procedure. In the following article, candidates will know more about the Result and Counselling Procedure of UPSEE MBA 2017.

UPSEE MBA 2017 Important Dates

For the counselling procedure, there are different dates and sessions allotted to candidates after the results are declared. Hence, to avoid confusion candidates must note the following important dates regarding Result and Counselling Process of UPSEE MBA 2017.

Evaluation ofUPSEE MBA 2017 Result

To clear the UPSEE MBA 2017 candidates have to have a certain percentage as qualifying score. For General and OBC Category students, the minimum cut-off percentage of marks is 25%. For the SC/ST Candidates, the minimum percentage of marks is 20%.

On the basis of Candidate’s performance in UPSEE MBA 2017, a separate merit list will be prepared for MBA Course. Candidates will be able to download their Merit Position and Score card which would include total marks and marks scored by the candidate in the exam, after the results of UPSEE MBA 2017 are declared. 

Declaration of Results for UPSEE MBA 2017

In the last week of May, 2017, candidates can check their UPSEE MBA Result on the official websites.

Candidates will also have the option of getting their answer sheets revaluated. Students who want to get the revaluation done have to do so within a week of the declaration of Result.

Candidates have to pay Rs. 5000/- per paper to get the revaluation done. They must also write an application for Revaluation to the following address:

The result declared after revaluation or not, will be considered final by the University and no application in this regard will be entertained.

UPSEE MBA 2017Inter se Merit

At the time of evaluation, it is possible that the marks of two or more candidates be tied. In such a scenario, the inter-se-merit of such candidates shall be calculated through following means:

  • Number of Incorrect answers: The candidates, who have given less number of incorrect answers than the others, will be placed at a higher merit.
  • Age of Candidate: The candidate whose marks are tied in UPSEE MBA 2017, their merit will also be based on their age. The candidate with higher age than others will be placed at higher merit.

UPSEE MBA 2017 Counselling Procedure

The Counselling Procedure will begin in the last week of June, 2017 and several rounds of counselling will continue till end of July, 2017. It is advised that candidates can keep a check on the counselling schedule and important dates as, if the candidate misses a deadline, they will not be able to go further with the admission.

There will be five rounds of Counselling which are entirely based on the availability of Seats for a course in an institution. The rounds in Counselling Procedure of UPSEE MBA are as follows:

  • First Round (Main Round)
  • Second Round (Special Counselling): In this round, the vacant seats of the subcategory shall be merged into respective vertical categories. Thus, subcategories GL/AF/FF/PH seats will cease to exist from this round onward. However, main categories GEN/OBC/SC/ST shall remain into existence. Those candidates, who could not participate in the First Round of Counselling, may also participate in this round.
  • Third Round (Additional Special Counselling for SC Category Candidates): In this round, the vacant seats of ST Category shall be merged into SC Category seats. Thus, ST category seat will cease to exist from this round onward. However, categories GEN/OBC/SC shall remain into existence. Those candidates, who could not participate in the 1st and 2nd Rounds of Counselling, may also participate in this round following the process of fresh registration.
  • Fourth Round: In this round, the vacant seats of OBC/SC Category shall be merged with GENERAL Category seats. Thus, all the vacant seats shall become GENERAL Category seats in this round onward. Those candidates, who could not participate in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounds of Counselling, may also participate in this round following the process of fresh registration.
  • Fifth Round: This fifth round of counselling shall be held only for vacant seats as informed by the Institutes to the University after reporting of the allotted candidates. All the vacant seats in this round of counselling shall be GENERAL Category seats. There will be no fresh registration in this round.

In each round of counselling procedure of UPSEE MBA, the candidates have to follow the steps given below and failure to do so will lead to no admission. The steps are as follows:

  1. Registration and Payment of Registration Fees: Candidates will register and pay the fees.
  2. Online choice filling and Choice locking: Candidates will fill in the choice(s) of colleges/Institution they wish to join.
  3. Document Verification: Candidates will visit document verification centres and get their documents and certificates verified.
  4. Seat allotment result and Confirmation of Seats: It is here the candidates will use options like ‘Freeze’, ‘Float’, ‘Withdraw’, ‘Freeze without Upgrade’, ‘Freeze with Upgrade’ etc to confirm allotted seat.

Important factors to remember for UPSEE MBA 2017 Counselling

The steps for Counselling given above are purely sequential in nature and the candidate can perform any step but they have to complete all steps in order to complete Counselling Procedure of UPSEE MBA 2017.

Seat Allotment and Choice Locking

Candidates must check all the available information about various institutes on the websites before making right choices.

The candidates who are allotted seat in the later rounds of counselling and they confirm it, their previously allotted seats will remain cancelled.

Candidates who have been allotted a seat and participate in subsequent round of counselling by exercising ‘Float’ option or ‘Freeze with Upgrade’ and a new seat is not allotted to them will retain the seat allotted to them in previous rounds.  

Every candidate who is allotted a seat must exercise “Freeze” or “Float” or “Freeze with Upgrade” or “Freeze without Upgrade” options, as applicable in the specific round, in order to accept and confirm the allotted seat in the specified period.

 If no option is exercised by such a candidate, the candidate will automatically be treated as “Withdrawn”. The seat allotted to such candidates shall be automatically cancelled and treated vacant.

Candidates who were allotted a seat but have exercised “Withdraw” Option after allotment, they will be automatically treated as Withdrawn from the Counselling Process. The seat allotted to such candidates will be cancelled and shall be treated vacant.

In case, a candidate confirms and accepts a seat by exercising “Freeze” option or “Freeze without Upgrade” option or “Freeze with Upgrade” option, as applicable in specific round; and their Provisional Allotment Letter has been generated but they do not take admission in the allotted Institute in the specified period, the seat allotted to him shall stand automatically cancelled. Such candidates will have no claim on the seat.

The registration fee submitted by such a candidate shall also be forfeited and No claim for refund of the fee submitted by such a candidate shall be entertained by the University.

It is advised that the candidates fill up as many choices as they want and put them in desired order carefully before locking.  Once Choice List is locked by a candidate, they will not get any other chance to modify/add/delete/update it during the entire process of counselling.

Same Choice List of the candidate which is filled and locked in any round of counselling shall be used for allotment in all subsequent rounds of counselling.

If a candidate does not lock his filled choices within the specified period, the choices filled by them at the end of specified period shall be automatically locked by the system and thereafter same shall be used for Seat Allotment.

Fees Payment

The Registration Fee has to be paid online only using Credit Card/Debit Card/Internet Banking. There is no other option except Credit Card/Debit Card/Internet banking for submission of registration fee.

The candidates are advised to identify their account through which they intend to make payments of registration fee and make arrangement of money in the account ready in advance, in order to avoid any inconvenience.

The candidates are advised to register and make payment of registration fee as early as possible so that they have sufficient time to handle the possible issues of failed / broken payment transactions.

Step by Step process of UPSEE MBA 2017 counselling

As mentioned above, there are four important steps to be followed in order to complete the Counselling Process of UPSEE MBA 2017. The details for each step are as follows:

Step 1: Registration and Payment of Fees

  1. Candidates will start the Counselling Procedure by visiting the official website. They will use their Application number and password which they had used for filling the application form of UPSEE MBA and register themselves for counselling process of UPSEE MBA 2017.
  2. After logging in, candidates will see the terms and conditions of the UPSEE-2017 counselling process. Candidates will click on “I Agree”. They will then be able to see their personal details and the streams in which they have qualified.
  3. Towards the end of the page, they will see a field asking, ‘Do you belong to Fee Waiver Scheme?’ Candidates who are eligible for this must click the box and those who are not, should leave the box blank.
  4. After clicking ‘Submit’ the candidates will move ahead with the payment of registration fees.
  5. Payment of Fees for registration will only be done online through candidate’s Credit Card / Debit Card/Internet Banking.  The Registration Fee is Rs 20,000 for General/OBC candidates and Rs 12,000 for SC/ST Category candidates.
  6. This registration Fee shall be adjusted against the Institute Fee at the time of admission in the Allotted Institute.
  7. The full Registration Fee of those candidates, who could not be allotted a seat as per their choice list, shall be refunded. 
  8. The Registration Fee of those candidates, who gets allotted a seat and withdraws (through “Withdraw” Option) as per provision given in the counselling schedule, after deduction of administrative charges with a rate of Rs 2000 per round of counselling in which the candidate has participated, shall be refunded online in the same account.
  9. The Registration Fee of those candidates, who confirms a seat allotted to him by exercising “Freeze” option (in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd  Round)/ “Freeze with Upgrade” option or “Freeze without Upgrade” option (in 4th  round) and does not report for admission in the allotted Institute, shall be forfeited.
  10. After successful payment of fees, candidates will receive a notification on their registered mobile number. Candidates will then be able to move on the next step of choice locking and choice filling.

Step 2: Choice locking and Choice Filling

  1. Candidates must fill their choices and may alter/modify/delete or add choices before locking them until the last date of choice filling as per their convenience. To do so they will log-in on their UPSEE MBA profile through the official website.
  2. During the time of choice filling, candidates have the option of saving their choice. This would mean that the candidate can visit their profile again and again. But to confirm their choice, they have to click on ‘Lock’. Once ‘Lock’ is clicked, they will not be able to change their options.
  3. The candidate will take a printout of the locked choices for their convenience.
  4. The choice list filled by the candidate will be used throughout the Counselling Procedure including all the rounds. Candidates will not be able to alter/modify/add/delete choices in later rounds of counselling.
  5. Before filling the choices, candidates must do a quick study of the different branches of courses in institutes, eligibility requirement of the institute, number of seats available in different colleges, the cut-off ranks of previous years etc.
  6. At the same time, candidates must not hesitate to fill plenty of choices in the list. This will only help the candidate in widening their selection for a colleges and institutions.

Step 3: Document Verification

  1. In this step, candidates have to visit the documents verification centre to get their documents and certificates verified.
  2. It is advised to carry all the required documents and original certificates to show and a set consisting of self attested photocopies of the certificates to be deposited at the document verification centre.
  3. Candidates have an option to choose from a massive list of documents verification centre. The list is given below in the article.
  4. Candidates are allowed to go document verification centre on any day during specified period at the document verification as per their convenience. It is advised to go verification centre preferably as per following schedule to avoid crowd / inconvenience.

  1. Candidates will receive a notification after their documents and certificates have been verified.

Step 4: Allotment of Seats and confirmation of seats

  1. After the candidate’s documents are verified the result of seat allotment will be declared on the official website. If the candidate sees their name on the list, they will visit the allotted institute to either confirm the allotted seat by payment of Seat Acceptance Fee and complete the admission process or withdraw from the process of counselling.
  2. The following options will be available to candidates in all rounds, with a little variation in round 4 of counselling process:
  • Freeze Option: A candidate, who is satisfied with the presently allotted seat to them and do not want to be considered for up gradation of seat in subsequent round of counselling, should opt for the Freeze option in order to confirm the seat presently allotted to them.
  • Float Option: A candidate, who wants to confirm the seat presently allotted to them and also at the same time wants to be considered for up gradation of seat in later round of counselling on the basis of his already filled choices, should opt for the Float option.
  • Withdraw Option: Candidates who are not satisfied with the presently allotted seat to them and do not want to be considered for allotment in any subsequent rounds of counselling, should opt for the withdraw option.
  1. In case, a candidate could not be allotted any seat on  the basis of the choices filled by them, they will have to choose one of the following available options:
  • Float Option: If candidate wants to be considered for up gradation of seat in 2nd Round of Counselling on the basis of his already filled choices, should opt for the FLOAT option.
  • Withdraw Option: Candidates who are not satisfied with the presently allotted seat to them and do not want to be considered for allotment in any subsequent rounds of counselling, should opt for the withdraw option.
  1. If a candidate could not be allotted a seat and they do not chose any of the above option during the specified period, they will be automatically treated to have opted for ”float” and shall be automatically considered for next round (if due to be held)  of counselling.
  2. In fourth round of counselling, candidates who are allotted seats will be able to choose from following options:     
  • “Freeze without Upgrade” Option: A candidate, who is satisfied with the presently allotted seat to them and do not want to be considered for up gradation of seat in 5th round of counselling, should opt for the ‘Freeze without Upgrade’  option to confirm the seat presently allotted to them.

The candidate, after exercising this option must download and print their Provisional Allotment Letter. If the candidate does not report for admission in the allotted institute within the specified period, the seat allotted to them shall stand automatically cancelled and their registration fee shall be forfeited and they shall not be eligible for refund.

  • “Freeze with Upgrade” Option: A candidate, who wants to confirm the seat presently allotted to them and also at the same time wants to be considered for up gradation of seat in 5th round of counselling on the basis of their already filled choices, are required to opt for the “Freeze with Upgrade” option. Registration Fee submitted by the candidate shall be adjusted against Institute fee at the time of admission in the Allotted Institute of the candidate.

Such candidates, who choose this option and reports for admission in the respective Allotted Institute within the specified period, shall be considered for seat allotment in the 5th round of counselling. The candidate, after exercising this option must download and print their Provisional Allotment Letter.

If the candidate does not report for admission in the allotted institute within the specified period, the seat allotted to them shall stand automatically cancelled and their registration fee shall be forfeited and he/she shall not be eligible for refund.

  • “Withdraw” Option: A candidate, who neither wants to confirm the seat presently allotted to him nor want to be considered for allotment in 5th round of counselling, should opt for the “Withdraw” option. The candidates, who opt for this Withdraw option, will be treated to have withdrawn from the Counselling Process.

The seat allotted to such candidates will be cancelled and shall be treated vacant. The registration fee of such candidates, after deduction of administrative charges with a rate of Rs 2000 per round of counselling in which the candidate has participated, shall be refunded online in the same account.

Important Documents Required For UPSEE MBA 2017 Counselling

For the Counselling Process to go successfully, candidates have to appear for Document verification where they will get some important documents verified. This is an important step for the Counselling procedure of UPSEE MBA 2017. Candidates will take the documents to the any of the institute approved for Document Verification (see below).

If any of the documents at the time of verification are not produced or it is found that the documents are faulty, the candidate’s candidature will be cancelled.

Following is the list of documents which have to be produced at the time of document verification:

  • Candidate’s UPSEE MBA 2017 Admit Card
  • Mark sheet of qualifying exam
  • High school Certificate
  • Character certificate from the Head of Institution last attended.
  • Certificate of Medical Fitness
  • Domicile certificate, if applicable
  • Category certificate such as OBC/SC/ST, if applicable
  • Subcategory certificate (Freedom fighters/ Armed forces/ Physically handicapped) whichever is applicable
  • Income certificate (applicable for economically weaker only)
  • GDDA category certificate, if applicable
  • Rural Weightage certificate, if applicable
