The previous year cut off for CAPF exam can help the students figure out a trend in the cut-off score. Depending on the category they belong to, candidates can get an approximate idea regarding how much they would need to score in the CAPF 2016 to be eligible for the CAPF Recruitment Process.

The cut-off marks for CAPF 2015 of both Paper I and Paper II for candidates belonging to different categories are summarised in the table below:

CategoryPaper I (out of 250)Written test (out of 450)
General111172
Other Backward Class (OBC)110170
Scheduled Caste (SC)95153
Scheduled Tribe (ST)95149
Ex-Servicemen (ExS)3868

For those candidates belonging to the category of Ex-Servicemen, the cut-off score indicated for Paper I and II together is subject to a minimum of 20 marks secured in Paper II and 15% marks secured in aggregate.

As far as the actual cut-off figures are concerned, there is not much difference across categories. General and OBC cut-offs are extremely close to each other for both Paper I and aggregate Paper I and II. For SC and ST categories, the cut-off is identical for Paper I and differs by four points only for aggregate Paper I and Paper II. There is a drastic gap between the cut-off set for Ex-Servicemen category and that set for all the others.

CAPF 2014 Cut off

The information regarding the cut-off score for the CAPF 2014 exam does not include the Ex-Servicemen category. However, other candidates can benefit from going through the set cut-off marks for their respective categories.

The CAPF 2014 cut-off score for various category candidates for both Paper I and Paper II is provided below:

CategoryPaper I (out of 250)Written test (out of 450)

It must be noted that the cut-off indicated for the Written qualified round is subject to candidates securing a minimum of 60 marks in Paper II. As can be seen, the gap between the cut-off marks for Paper I for different categories is not large. For General and OBC, the cut-off score differs by one point while for SC and ST, the set cut-off is exactly the same.

The same trend is observed in the cut-off figures for the CAPF Written Exam round. This time, the General and OBC categories have the same cut-off marks. SC and ST cut-offs differ only by 6 points.

CAPF 2013 Cut off

The cut-off score of CAPF 2013 again lack data for the category of Ex-Servicemen. The scores for other categories are available and can be used to predict the CAPF recruitment to the desired post.  The CAPF 2013 Cut-off statistics are provided below:

CategoryPaper I (out of 250)Written test (out of 450)

Scheduled Caste (SC)90151
Scheduled Tribe (ST)91143

The cut-off marks mentioned for the written round of exam is subject to securing a minimum of 50 marks out of 200 in Paper II. Once again, the cut-off for General and OBC Categories for Paper I, is quite close, differing by one point only. Same is true for SC and ST categories, with a difference of one point between their respective cut-offs.

For Paper II, the set cut-off for General and OBC categories sees a greater difference, that of 6 points. The gap between SC and ST cut-offs widen as well, with a difference of 8 points. Therefore, studying the general pattern in the CAPF cut-off over the years shows us clearly that the cut-off difference between certain categories tends to be very small. This will help test takers understand that the kind of preparation they must do.

Factors Affecting UPSC CAPF Cut off

The cut-off marks depend on various factors and can be indicative of the overall performance of candidates. Some of the factors are discussed in detail here. The UPSC CAPF Cut-off marks will depend on the number of candidates who appear for the exam. It will also depend on the number of vacancies available. The reservation applicable for different categories also affects the cut-off for an exam.

The level of difficulty of the UPSC CAPF Question Paper also plays a role in defining the UPSC CAPF cut-off score. If the question paper turns out to be on the easier side, the cut-off marks will be higher. But, if the questions are found to be more difficult, the cut-off for the exam will come down.

Other miscellaneous factors may also contribute to deciding the cut-off figure. UPSC will declare the cut-off at the time of announcing the UPSC CAPF Results. Candidates must accept the decision as the cut-off score cannot be contested.
