TNEA 2017 Application Process

Anna University invites common application forms for TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission) for admission to various undergraduate engineering programmes, offered by various colleges or universities in Tamil Nadu.

The candidates can fill the TNEA 2017 Application form from first week of May, 2017. Candidates can fill application form till last week of May, 2017. A candidate must check his or her TNEA Eligibility Criteria before applying for the entrance exam.

TNEA 2017 Exam Dates

The candidates can apply online for TNEA 2017 from first week of May, 2017. Candidates can check the TNEA exam dates, which are given below. Below dates are tentative and official dates will be mentioned as and when the official dates will be out.

Eligibility Criteria for TNEA 2017

The eligibility criteria for TNEA 2017 are given below:

  • Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed class 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th in Tamil Nadu are eligible. They are not required to enclose the Nativity Certificate.
  • Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed any of class 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th or their equivalent examination from outside Tamil Nadu are also eligible. They are required to enclose a photocopy of Nativity Certificate (in electronic form/ digitally signed e- Certificate).
  • Children of Central Government Employees are also eligible, regardless of their native place, subject to the condition that their parents have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past 5 years, at the time of submission of application. They must enclose a certificate from the employer of the parent/ guardian as evidence.
  • Children of All India service Tamil Nadu cadre officers are also eligible.
  • Children of employees in Public Sector or Government recognised Institutions are also eligible, regardless of their native place, subject to the condition that their parents have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past 5 years, at the time of submission of application. They must enclose a certificate from the employer of the parent/ guardian as evidence.
  • Other State candidates who have studied class 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th in Tamil Nadu are eligible. They are not required to produce ‘Nativity Certificate’.
  • Only Tamil Nadu domicile candidates will be considered for reservation of seats. Other candidates will be considered under ‘Open Competition’.

An applicant must have cleared HSC (Academic) or its equivalent with minimum average aggregate marks in total of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together as mentioned in the table below:

TNEA 2017 Application Process

The mode of registration for TNEA Exam is online only. Candidates have to visit the official website to register. The candidates are required to submit the filled- in TNEA online application form, along with the relevant documents, either in person or by post to:

TNEA 2017 Application Form must be submitted before the last date of Registration. Online TNEA 2017 Application Forms received after the due date, and/ or without all the relevant documents will not be considered and will be rejection without notice.

The Secretary, TNEA will not be responsible for any delay in post of TNEA 2017 application after the due date.

TNEA 2017 Payment Method

TNEA Application fee must be submitted either through online payment mode or via demand drawn in favour of ‘The Secretary (TNEA), Anna University’ payable at Chennai. Payment of TNEA 2017 registration fee made by any other mode will not be accepted.

Documents to be enclosed with TNEA 2017 Application Form

Photocopies of the following documents should be enclosed along with the application:

  • 10th Mark Sheet
  • HSC/ Equivalent Mark Sheet
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Permanent Community Certificate Card for ST, SC, SCA, MBC and DNC, BC and BCM (Permanent card / electronic form/ digitally signed e- Certificate)
  • HSC Hall Ticket
  • Nativity Certificate, if applicable, only in electronic form/ digitally signed e- Certificate
  • First Graduate Certificate and First Graduate Joint Declaration, if applicable, only in electronic form/ digitally signed e- Certificate
  • Srilankan Tamil Refugee certificate, if applicable
  • Relevant certificates for Son/ Daughter of Ex- Serviceman, Son/ Daughter of Freedom Fighter, Differently Abled Person and Eminent Sports Persons, if applicable
  • Demand draft, if applicable

General Guidelines for filling the TNEA 2017 Application form

Candidates/applicants must remember below mentioned important points while filling the TNEA 2017 Application form:

  • Attach all the photocopies of the relevant certificates, as mentioned, along with the TNEA 2017 online application form.
  • Certificates submitted at a later date will not be accepted.
  • It is suggested that candidates post the TNEA 2017 online application form well in advance, preferably by Registered post / Speed post, so that it reaches the Secretary (TNEA), Anna University, Chennai before the due date and time.
  • Eminent Sports Persons should submit the TNEA 2017 application in person.
  • Failure to report for admission on or before the date in the provisional allotment order will lead to the seat being forfeited.
  • The selection of the college and the branch of study is the responsibility of the candidate.
