TISSNET 2017 was conducted successfully on January 7, 2017. Now, TISS Results are set to come out on January 27, 2017, at its official website. TISSNET is a national level entrance test that is conducted by TATA Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. It is analyzed that this year’s exam paper was as difficult as the previous year.
Once candidates clear TISSNET, they will be called for the Pre-Interview Test/Group Discussion and then the Interview Test round. Candidates short-listed for Pre Interview Test (PIT) and Personal Interview (PI) will be required to download the detailed application form, which will be available from the third week of February, 2017. As for the TISSNET Cutoff, the minimum qualifying marks for written test is 35 per cent (for SC/ST) and 45 per cent (for others). Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of performance and cutoff of TISSNET 2017.

TISSNET 2017 Exam Dates
Candidates are expected to go through the schedule for TISSNET 2017 before applying for TISS exam. In case they miss the deadline for any process, candidates will not be able to obtain admission in TISS for the academic session 2017-19.

What is TISSNET?
The TATA Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) conducts the National Entrance Test (TISSNET) each year. It is a national level entrance exam, conducted annually. TISSNET 2017 will be conducted on January 7, 2017 at all India level. It a computer-based exam that will be held in a number of TISSNET Exam Centres. TISS Exam is conducted for admissions to M.A. / M.Sc. / M.P.H./ M.H.A. academic programmes. TISS Admission will be done on the basis of their performance in the written exam.
TISS Results will be declared on January 27, 2017 on the official website of TISS i.e. http://admissions.tiss.edu/ . Candidates will be selected on the basis of their merit ranks. The TISSNET 2017 merit list so prepared will decide the shortlisted candidates who are then called upon for PIT/PI.
How To Check TISS Results?

Tie breaker for TISSNET 2017
If there occurs a case in which two or more candidates score the same marks and it is difficult to maintain the merit list, then TISS facilitates the candidates with a tie-breaker criteria. This tie breaker criteria involves comparison of marks of the candidates at certain levels. To imply tie breaker criteria, following steps are followed:
- At first, the PI marks of the candidates will be compared.
- In case PI marks of both the candidates are equal, then PIT marks will be compared.
- If the PIT marks are also equal, then the entrance score of both the candidates will be taken into consideration.
- Again if entrance score comes equal, then the candidate older in age will be given preference over the one younger in age.
TISSNET 2017 Selection Procedure
All those candidates who have successfully qualified TISSNET 2017 will be called for GD/PI. Candidates who have obtained the minimum cut off score are only eligible to take participate in TISSNET 2017 selection procedure.
TISSNET 2017 Selection Procedure has three components of assessment. The components are–
- National Entrance Test
- Pre-Interview Test / Group Discussion (GD)
- Personal Interview (PI)
At first, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their performances in the National Entrance Test. Then, the shortlisted candidates are called for the next rounds of Pre-Interview Test / GD and Personal Interview.
TISSNET 2017 PIT and GD
Candidates who have been shortlisted after the entrance examination will be invited for the subsequent round of Pre-Interview Test / Group Discussion.
The Pre-Interview Test is a written test conducted as part of the TISSNET 2017 Selection Procedure. The test will be conducted for students who have been shortlisted after the entrance examination for TISS. For all the programmes across TISS Campuses, the PIT will be in the form of a Written Test or a Group Discussion.
The format of PIT for some courses are given below:
There will be 2 sections for PIT. Section I (25-30 Marks) will be of Essay Writing (1000-1500 words) and Section II (20-25 Marks) will be a short case-let with 4 questions based on it. The duration of PIT is 35-45 minutes.
TISSNET 2017 Personal Interview
The final round of the TISSNET 2017 selection process is the Personal Interview (PI). Candidates who have been selected after the round of Pre-Interview Test or Group Discussion are eligible for the final interview.
Candidates are expected to be acquainted with the programme for which they have applied, for the PI round. The questions are normally asked regarding their programme the candidates choose, during the Personal Interview (PI).
PIT is followed by PI. The weightage of PI is 75 marks.
All the candidates who appeared for TISSNET 2017 will be selected on the basis of TISSNET 2017 merit list prepared. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates at different levels. The merit list is prepared on the following factors:
- Score in National Eligibility Test (NET) (40% (out of 100 marks))
- Score in Group discussion/ Pre interview test (30% (out of 50 marks)
- Score in personal interview (PI) (30% (out of 70 marks))

TISSNET 2017 was conducted in Online mode (Computer Based Test) on January 7, 2017. The total duration is 1 hour and 40 minutes in which candidates have to attempt a maximum of 100 questions from 3 different subjects. TISSNET Admit Card
Candidates could download their TISSNET Admit Card from December 26 till December 27, 2016 from the official website of TISS. Candidates will receive a link on their registered email ID to download their admit cards. In case the candidates don’t receive their TISSNET 2017 admit card by the 2nd week of January 2017, they may request for a duplicate TISSNET admit card to be sent to them.
TISSNET 2017 Registration
The TISSNET 2017 Registrations concluded on December 10, 2017. Candidates could apply for a maximum of 3 programs at 2 different campuses of TISS. The TISSNET 2017 Application form could be filled through the online mode from the official site for TISS admissions.
TISS had however provided a provision for purchasing the Application form through offline mode from the campus, with concern to only those candidates who are applying from remote regions of the country and have limited access to internet such as Nort-East, Jammu & Kashmir and Jharkhand.
The application form of TISSNET 2017 can be obtained by sending request for the form through speed post along with the application fee to Assistant Registrar (Academic), Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Deonar Mumbai, 400088.

It is mandatory for all the candidates to pay the requisite Application Fee in order to complete TISSNET 2017 Registration. The Application Fee for TISSNET 2017 will vary for candidates applying under different categories. TISSNET 2017 Application Fee can be paid through online mode via Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking and cash deposit at any of the designated branches of SBI using the prescribed challan.

TISSNET 2017 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates are required to fulfil the eligibility criteria notified by TISS for appearing in TISSNET 2017.
- Those who are in the final year of Bachelor’s degree can also apply for TISSNET 2017. They should have cleared all the subjects from Ist to 4th semester (if the degree is of three years) or from Ist to 6th semester (if the degree is of 4 years).
- Candidates can only apply if they fulfil all the requirements of the final year Bachelor’s degree examination by June 11, 2017.
- Those studying in the final year of their graduation but have not passed in all the subjects of their previous years are not eligible to apply for any of the masters’ courses offered by TISS.
- If some candidate is declared as failed in their bachelor’s degree then he/she is not eligible to take the TISSNET 2017 entrance exam.
NOTE: Admissions of all the candidates will be considered provisional until these candidates submit their results of their final year degree examination which must be submitted before September 30, 2017.
