SSC JE 2016 Exam Dates, Exam Pattern and Syllabus

SSC JE (Staff Selection Commission Junior Engineers) examination is administered by SSC (Staff Selection Commission). The candidates are recruited for the post of Junior Engineers, Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted posts by the commission. Candidates with a bachelor degree in civil/mechanical/electrical engineering are eligible to apply for SSC JE exam.

SSC has announced the tentative dates for SSC JE Exam. It is scheduled from March 1- March 4, 2017. There are two papers and are objective in nature. While paper I is conducted in computer mode, paper II is a written exam. Paper I carries maximum 300 marks and paper II carries 100 marks. The duration for SSC JE exam is 2 hours. Paper I is compulsory for all candidates and those who qualify paper I will only be allowed to sit for paper II. 

LATEST UPDATE: Document Verification for successful candidates of SSC JE 2016 would be conducted by concerned Regional Offices on their respective websites from January 23 to February 3, 2017. 

SSC recently released the result for SSC JE 2015 paper II exam which was conducted in July 2016. Candidates who have qualified the Paper II, will have to undergo the process of document verification. SSC JE 2016 Eligibility Criteria

Applicants who are willing to appear for SSC JE Exam, should check their eligibility before moving to the SSC JE Application process. The verification of the eligibility conditions of the applicants would take place at the time of SSC JE recruitment process for SSC JE.

Nationality / Citizenship

Candidates of SSC JE who are the citizens of mentioned country are eligible to appear for the SSC JE Exam

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age Limit

The Candidates of SSC JE Exam should be of 18 to 27 years of age till August 1, 2016 in order to get eligible for appearing in SSC JE Exam. There will be an upper age limit relaxation of 5 years to 15 years permissible in case of SC / ST, OBC, PwD categories as per the Government rules.

Educational Qualification

All the eligible candidates must hold the necessary educational qualification before they apply for the SSC JE Exam. The candidate must have passed matriculation examination or equivalent examination from a recognized board as on August 1, 2016.

SSC JE 2016 Application Form

The SSC JE Application form is accepted in online mode. Candidates who are willing to appear for SSC JE Exam have to register themselves on the official website of SSC. The SSC JE Notification regarding SSC JE Application form should be submitted before November 3, 2016. SSC JE 2016 Application Fee

The SSC JE application fee is INR 100/-. Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, physically handicapped and Ex-Servicemen eligible for reservation are exempted from paying fee.

SSC JE Application Fee can be paid through both online mode and offline mode. The online mode includes payment through SBI net banking/debit card/credit cards. However, the offline mode includes payment through SBI Challan, challan generated online after completion of part I registration. Deposit the requisite fee in pay branch of State Bank of India and then continue with the Part II registration.

SSC JE 2016 Admit Card

The admit card of SSC JE Paper – I is available on the official website in 3rd week of November 2016. Eligible candidates, can download their SSC Junior Engineer Admit Card from the website.

SSC JE 2016 Exam Centers

The SSC JE Exam is scheduled to be conducted in 38 cities around the country. Candidates have the option to provide the test city of their choice as per their convenience while filling the SSC JE application form. A candidate must clearly indicate in the SSC JE Application Form their preferences of exam centers.

SSC JE 2016 Exam Pattern

The SSC JE Exam consists of two papers: Paper – I and Paper – II. Paper – I is objective type paper and Paper – II is a conventional type. Time duration for Paper – I and Paper – II is 2 hours.

SSC JE 2016 Answer Key

SSC will release the answer key of SSC JE Exam 2016 in the month of January 2017. The SSC release two answer key first for SSC JE paper – I and second for SSC JE paper - II. Answer key help the candidates to analyze their performances in the SSC JE Exam.

SSC JE 2016 Result

SSC JE Result for paper – I is expected to be declared in January, 2017. The SSC JE Result 2016 will be released on the official website of the SSC. In order to check the SSC JE Result, the candidates have to login with their respective SSC JE Exam roll number. The below steps need to follow in order to check the SSC JE Result –

SSC JE 2016 Cut Off

The cut off score are the minimum score that a candidate needs to obtain in order to qualify the SSC JE Exam. The SSC JEcut off will be decided by the commission. SSC will release two cut offs first for paper – I and second for paper – II. The SSC JE paper -I cut off 2016 is expected to be as follows:

SSC JE 2016 Selection Process

SSC JE Recruitment is conducted for eligible candidates to various posts and vacancies. The SSC JE Recruitment process will take place after the declaration of SSC JE Results. On the basis of score obtain in both the Paper – I & II of SSC JE written examination, candidates will be selected.

The candidates who successfully qualify the SSC JE Exams will be eligible for participating in the SSC JE Recruitment process and shall be on probation for a period of two years and during the period of probation, the candidates would be required to undergo such training or pass such examinations as prescribed by the Controlling Authority.
