SSC CGL Online Application Form is available at ssc.nic.in. There are no alternative mode of application and all registrations are needed to be made through the online portal. Follow these instructions before starting the application process.
STAGE 1-Provisional Registration ID & Password Generation
- Collect 10th Marksheet, ID proof & scanned copy of signature and passport size photograph, compress it to limit the file size <12Kb. Know How to Optimize Image and Signature Files for SSC CGL 2017 Online Application form
- Visit ssc.nic.in and click on the Register button under New Registration Section
- Fill the Details in the Pop Up Window and click submit.
- For all the details such as Roll No, Date of Birth, Father’s Name use 10th Marksheet only, details from any other certificate is not valid.
- You will get a provisional registration id and password
STAGE 2-Upload Signature and Photograph
- Upload the Scanned files of Signature & Photograph
- The image size should not exceed 12Kb and 100 pixel in width and 120 pixel in height.
- Signature file should not exceed 12 Kb and with resolution of 40 pixel width and 60 pixel in height

STAGE 3-Form Filling and Application
The form has 21 fields and all are compulsory, some of the options will be prefilled through the data provided in registration process. Candidates need to fill the complete application form and proceed for the payment option.
STAGE 4 – Payment Online + Challan
Applicants need to pay the ₹ 100 to submit the application, the payment can be made either online or offline through submitting challan directly in bank.
- Candidates exempted from the payment should exercise this option here and click the exemption button.
- Candidates selecting the offline mode of payment, need to download the bank challan and submit in any nearby State Bank of India branches. After 48 hours revisit the application page and click on “Check Your Application Status Here” for the status of payment made.
- For Online Option, Choose the desired mode of payment from drop down and continue with the payment
- In case of any technical failure and the amount gets deducted, refund will be processed in 48 Hours or connect with the respective bank for further queries.

Eligibility Criteria for SSC CGL 2017
Candidates appearing for SSC CGL 2017 need to fulfil certain criteria imposed by the commission related to age limit and academic qualification. before they proceed to fill the online form. - Nationality: The candidate must be:
- a citizen of India OR
- a subject of Nepal OR
- a subject of Bhutan OR
- a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before January 1, 1962, to permanently settling in India OR
- A PIO (person of Indian origin) who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar ), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam to permanently settle down in India.
- Educational Qualification: The basic academic eligibility that candidates have to fulfill is to possess a Bachelor’s degree at the time of applying. There are other criteria such as minimum percentage, course of graduation that is applicable to different posts.

SSC CGL 2017 Reservation
The number of vacancies reserved in various posts offered through SSC CGL will be announced at least one month prior to the announcement of final SSC CGL 2017 results. Post wise vacancies for each category will be notified by the concerned Ministries/Departments/ Offices/ Cadres at later stages.
All the vacancies for Ex-servicemen are reserved for Group C posts only as per the existing government orders

SSC CGL 2017 Admit Card
The Commission releases separate SSC CGL Admit Card for all the tiers on the official website as well as other regional sites. SSC CGL 2017 Admit Card for Tier I will be tentatively issued online in the month of August. The steps to download admit card are mentioned below for reference.
- Go to the Regional websites of SSC. (Eg: for a candidate of Delhi, visit the official site of SSC Northern Region)
- Applicants can download SSC CGL 2017 Admit Card by using their Registration ID, By Roll No. or by Name including the candidate’s Date of Birth
- Click on “Search status”.
- Candidates can download the admit card after scrutinizing all the details and take a print out of the same.
NOTE: In case of discrepancy in the information mentioned on admit card, candidates need to contact the office of Regional director of the commission to rectify the details.
SSC CGL 2017 Exam Centers
SSC CGL 2017 will be conducted in 120 cities across India in multiple shifts. All the SSC CGL Exam Centers are further segregated into 9 main regions of the country. Applicants have to fill the preference for their centers in the SSC CGL 2017 Application Form. Nevertheless, the Commission reserves the right to make a decision regarding the final allotment of SSC CGL 2017 Exam Center.
Also, if the commission decides to make any changes regarding the exam centers, the same will be notified on the regional official websites of the SSC as well as leading newspapers of the region. The final allotted exam center will be mentioned on SSC CGL 2017 Admit Card issued to candidates.

SSC CGL 2017 Exam Pattern
SSC CGL Exam consists of 3 tiers and aspirants must have an extensive knowledge of SSC CGL 2017 Exam Pattern.
- SSC CGL 2017 Tier 1 and Tier 2 are computer-based tests of objective nature.

SSC CGL 2017 Selection Process
SSC CGL 2017 Selection Process consists of 3 Tiers – Tier I & Tier II are computer based objective papers while Tier III is pen and paper based descriptive exam.
