SRMCAT 2017 PATTERN & SYLLABUS
STATE LEVEL ONLINE TEST
SRMCAT 2017 (Sri Ramaswamy Memorial University Common Aptitude Test 2017) is held by SRM University for admissions to Masters of Business Administration (MBA). SRMCAT 2017 is a yearly exam held that will be held on April 23, 2017 and April 24, 2017. SRMCAT is an online examination held on the computer system on various Examination Centres. SRMCAT 2017 exam is held for the SRM University, SRM University Haryana and SRM University Sikkim.
The following article will provide the candidates with all the information that they need to have regarding the examination pattern and syllabus of the SRMCAT 2017 examination.

SRMCAT examination is held for 150 minutes. There is negative marking as well. The detailed examination pattern and syllabus will be enlisted in the following article to provide the candidate complete knowledge of the same.
It is mandatory to have an idea of all the sections of the examination and the number of questions and marks each contains. The candidates preparing for the examination must also be aware of the marking scheme and the negative marking schedule for the examination.

SRMCAT examination contains 100 questions which are further divided into 5 sections with 20 questions in each section. These five sections are Data Interpretation, Logical reasoning, Quantitative ability, Verbal Ability (English) and General knowledge/current affairs.
A candidate can score maximum 300 marks in the exam. Each question consists of 3 marks. For every correct answer 3 marks are awarded to the candidates and for every wrong answer 1 mark is deducted from the candidates score.
The duration of the test is 150 minutes and the candidate cannot leave the examination hall before the test has officially ended for everyone.
Part 1. Data Interpretation (20 Questions)
Data Interpretation tests the candidate’s ability to read and analyse data often given in statistical representation. The candidates have to read and solve the data displayed through various statistic devices such as bar graphs, pie charts, etc.
Part 2. Quantitative (20 Questions)
Quantitative ability section evaluates the candidate’s mathematical proficiency. The candidates have to prepare from the maths of Class XII and Graduation.
This section is one of the trickiest one because the candidate is required to remember the method of providing the solution to every mathematical problem.
Part 3. Reasoning (20 Questions)
Logical reasoning is one of the most important section in any aptitude test. It judges the candidate on his or her ability to rationalize and logically determine the solution to the given problem.
This section requires the constant presence of mind as the only and the most important part of the preparation. To be a successful manager a candidate requires a level of logical ability.
Part 4: English (20 Questions)
Verbal Ability or English proficiency tests the candidate’s ability to read, write English language. Questions are based on comprehension passages, syllogisms, synonyms and vocabulary.
The test aims to evaluate the skill of the candidate on written English with questions on errors in usage, grammar, punctuation and the like. This section judges the candidates on their English and grammar skills.
Part 5: General Knowledge /Current Affairs (20 Questions)
General knowledge and Current Affairs is the section that checks the candidate’s social awareness. A candidate willing to pursue masters of Business administration must have a strong hold on the know-how of the everyday business and entrepreneur world.
Therefore the candidate must be judged on his or her knowledge of the general everyday affairs of the country and the world. The following are the areas that need to be given special importance while reading or watching the news to prepare for the general knowledge section.
PART 1. Data Interpretation: (20 Questions)
To practice and prepare for Data Interpretation the candidates must practise the questions that are generally asked and excel at the same.
PART 2. Quantitative: (20 Questions)
In order to prepare for the Quantitative Ability, the candidates are required to practice maths from high school, plus two and the graduation level.
PART 3. Reasoning: (20 Questions)
To get a hold at this section the candidate must be required to read the questions carefully and then practice the questions.
PART 4: English: (20 Questions)
To evaluate the skill of the candidate on written English with questions on errors in usage, grammar, punctuation and the like.
PART 5: GK / CA / BA: (20 Questions)
To evaluate the candidate’s skill on general knowledge, current affairs and business affairs. The candidates must catch as much of the newspaper reading as they can and then focus on all of the following parts. The candidate must also read a general knowledge website for the same.
The candidates preparing for SRMCAT 2017 must not rule out practising the model papers and mock tests as well. They give an idea of how the test is going to be.
