SNAP 2016 Eligibility Criteria

SNAP (Symbiosis National Aptitude Test), is meant for candidates aspiring to get admission into the MBA programs offered by various institutes of Symbiosis International University. However, candidates have to meet the Eligibility of SNAP prior to the Application process for SNAP 2016. SNAP Registration Form 2016 is available from last week of August-2016.

Candidates must fulfil the eligibility criteria prescribed by the University authorities with respect to different categories. Any candidate failing to meet the eligibility criteria at any stage would be debarred from taking part in subsequent processes of SNAP Test 2016.

Qualifying Examination Criteria for SNAP 2016

Candidates who have completed Bachelor’s degree from a renowned University or Institute scoring at least 50% marks in aggregate at graduation level will be eligible for admission. The minimum marks criteria is relaxed to 45% in case of SC/ST candidates.

Some courses require particular discipline or subject specialisation. The meticulous Institute which offers such course needs to make sure that the candidate is meeting the requisite eligibility requirements.

International applicants need to obtain an equivalence certificate from theAssociation of Indian Universities (AIU). International candidates are those who have studied or completed their graduation or equivalent examinations from a university outside India. It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that his/her respective foreign degree is verified by AIU before seeking admission in any programme or course of SIU.

NOTE: It is the sole responsibility of the candidates applying for admissions at SIU to ensure that they meet all the eligibility and qualifications required for that particular course they are applying for. The candidates who have been provisionally admitted can be rejected at latter stages if they don’t fulfill the requisite criteria. Provisional admission does not ensure that the candidate is admitted to the course. Final eligibility of every candidate rests with the Symbiosis International University

SNAP 2016 Reservation Criteria

The reservation policy for claiming SNAP Reservation quota 2016 is to be followed as per the UGC Guidelines/Regulations, during the admission process of any course in Institutes affiliated to SIU. The UGC guidelines are not followed by the Symbiosis Institutes of Management Studies since it follows its own guidelines and rules.

The SIU 2016 seat reservation for various categories is indicated in the table below.

Candidates applying under the reserved category need to provide valid supporting documents at the time of GE-PIWAT (in case they are shortlisted).

Differently Abled Category (DAC) at SIU;

SIU provides 3% reservation to the candidates with certain kinds of disabilities. These disability categories include Vision impairment, Hearing impairment, Locomotors disabilities, Mental retardation, multiple disabilities and Dyslexia.

The admission given to the differently abled candidates is purely on provisional basis. Further, such candidates need to compulsorily obtain an Authentication Certificate from the Symbiosis Centre for Health Care (SCHC) within a period of 1 month of the commencement of course. The SCHC will decide the extent and duration of candidate’s disability based on the documents provided by the candidate.

Eligibility Criteria for International Applicants

The International/Foreign Students’ categories are given as under:

Foreign National

Foreign National is a person who permanently resides out of India and does not hold citizenship of India. A candidate must hold a foreign passport and be a citizen of foreign country in order to fall under this category.

Person of Indian Origin (PIO)

Candidates who possesses a Person of Indian Origin Card (PIO) if they have a PIO card and is a citizen of any other country than India can apply for admission under than this category.

Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)

In order to apply under OCI category, a candidate should have an OCI card and should have the overseas citizenship of India. (Overseas Citizen of India are Persons of Indian Origin of certain categories who migrated from India and acquired citizenship of a foreign country, other than Pakistan and Bangladesh.)

Non-Resident Indian (NRI)

A candidate will be considered to be an NRI if he/she has given the 10+2 or graduation exam from a country outside India. It is compulsory that the candidate should have completed at least one of the 2 qualifying exams outside India.

NOTE: The Postgraduate candidates who come under the purview of NRI category and have given their graduation exams in India should compulsorily give the SNAP Test.

Special Criteria for International Applicants in SNAP 2016

  • Candidates applying under Foreign Nationals/OCI/PIO category must have passed a English Proficiency Test. They have the option to appear either for IELTS (conducted by British Council) or IELA (conducted by Symbiosis). Candidates need to obtain band 6 for IELTS and band 4 for IELA.
  • For Engineering courses, candidates should have passed full time 4 years Bachelor’s degree program from any recognized University with minimum 50% aggregate marks at the Graduate level.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year examination can only secure provisional examination and must obtain a minimum of 50% marks at the qualifying examination.
  • Candidates with backlogs or who have failed in their final results are not eligible for admission.
  • All the individual programs have their separate eligibility criteria which must be fulfilled to secure final admission.
  • The final eligibility will be determined by Symbiosis International University post submission of all the requisite documents.
  • International Applicants must possess following documents for Registration:
  • Form – A
  • Proof of Residence (Leave & License agreement/C Form should be submitted within 24 hours to FRO ‘C’ window
  • Passport Copy and Visa Copy along with the arrival stamp page
  • Bonafide Certificate and Letter of Provisional Admission from the University College/Institution in case of a student visa

There is reservation for certain categories within the sanctioned intake as approved by the admission committee of the Symbiosis International University.

Defence Category (Special)10% seats are reserved for candidates dependent on the Defence personnel who were killed during war, having more than half disability or impairment. This reservation will be also based on merit only
Open CategoryCandidates who come under the civilian category and are recommended by the Industry are entitled to 10% seats, but that too is totally on the basis of merit

SIU 2016 Seat Reservation Over and Above Intake

Automated admission is granted to Officers of Armed Forces presently serving study leave as approved by their respective Services Head Quarters.
