SLIET SET 2018

Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET) conducts an annual entrance exam for admission to various Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, Certificate and Ph.D program.

  • University Conducts 5 SETs entrance exams.
  • SLIET Entrance Test-I (SET-I) for Integrated Certificate Diploma
  • SLIET Entrance Test-IA (SET-II) for B.Tech
  • SLIET Entrance Test-III (SET-III) for Lateral Entry in B.Tech
  • SLIET Entrance Test-IV (SET-IV) for M.Tech, M.Sc and M.B.A.
  • SLIET Entrance Test-V (SET-V) for Ph.D. Programs.
  • The exam will be held at all districts in Punjab and different states of India.
  • The medium of the exam is in English. SLIET SET 2018 will be a 2 hours and 30 minutes long paper.

SLIET SET 2018 Eligibility Criteria

Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology defines different criteria for admission to its various courses through SILET SET. Candidates can follow the table below for a clearer understanding of the eligibility criteria of SILET SET 2018.

ICD (Integrated Certificate Diploma) ProgrammeCandidates need to have a minimum qualification of class X pass through any state, central or equivalent board. Candidates must have passed in English, Mathematics and Science. Candidates who are due to appear for the exam can also apply provided they can obtain and show their pass certificate at the time of admission. For lateral entry to 2nd year of the ICD program, candidates must have a 2 years full time ITI or equivalent 10 + 2 vocational degree in relevant trade with a minimum of 50% (45 % for reserved categories) from any government or semi government institute with 2 years of experience from any government, semi government or private industry of repute.
B.E (4 years degree course)The eligibility criteria for JEE (main) will be applicable. Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria given in the JEE (main) website www.jeemain.nic.in for the same.
B.E (Lateral entry)Candidates who have passed a diploma course in any discipline from SLIET or from any other polytechnic institute affiliated to any State Board of Technical Education and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for candidates belonging to reserved categories) are eligible for admission to corresponding B.E. programs. Students in their final year who are appearing for the final exam can also apply.
M. Tech ProgramCandidates must have a valid B. Tech / B.E / B.Sc (Engg) degree from a recognized institute of repute in the corresponding branch or has passed Section ‘B’ of the Institution of Engineers (India) in corresponding branch or Grade IETE and has three years of professional experience in any reputed organization. Candidates must have scored at least 60% marks (55% for candidates belonging to reserved categories) in aggregate in the qualifying degree. Candidates must also have a valid score for admission to the M. Tech program.
MBA ProgrammeCandidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree, B.Tech., B.E., B.Sc., B.Com or Graduation with Economics and Mathematics from any recognized university with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for students belong to SC/ST) or have a Master’s degree in any discipline of any recognized university with a minimum of 55% marks(50% for students belong to SC/ST).
M.Sc ProgramCandidates need a minimum of 55% marks (50% in case of reserved categories) for admission to the M. Sc programs. For M.Sc. (Physics), candidates need a recognized B.Sc. Degree with Physics as one of the subject. For M.Sc. (Chemistry), candidates need a recognized B.Sc. Degree with Chemistry as one of the subject. For M.Sc. (Mathematics), candidates need a recognized B.Sc. Degree with Mathematics as one of the subject.
Ph.D ProgramCandidates must have a Master’s Degree in Engineering / Technology / Science / Humanities / Management with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) in relevant disciplines. Candidates must note that a MCA degree is not eligible for Ph.D.in CSE.

SLIET SET 2018 Application Form

Candidates can fill up the application form of SLIET 2017 online after the official notification is released on the SLIET official website. Candidates can check the procedure to fill the application form for SLIET 2018 below:

  • Candidates need to visit the official SLIET website www.sliet.ac.in and follow the link to fill the application form.
  • Candidates will then have to fill the required detail to complete the registration and then go for the application form filling.
  • After registration, candidates will get their login Id and password for accessing their account and filling the application form. They will then need to fill in their personal, academic and other details in the application form.
  • After filling all the details, candidates will have to upload their scanned photograph and signature in the required dimensions to complete the application form filling process.
  • Candidates will have to click on the ‘Submit’ button to finally complete the registration process of SLIET 2018.

SLIET 2018 Application Form Fee

Candidates must note the following application fees for SLIET SET 2018:

  • General and Other Categories (Boys): ₹ 1200
  • General and Other Categories (Girls): ₹ 800
  • SC / ST Categories (Boys and Girls): ₹ 600

Candidates can pay the fees by both online (net banking / credit card / debit card) and offline (e-challan). Bank charges will be extra over and above the application fee.


SLIET SET 2018 Admit Card

SLIET SET 2018 admit cards will be available for download from the official SLIET website after the application process is over. Candidates must keep the following details pertaining to the SLIET SET 2018 in mind:

  • Candidates need to print two copies of the admit card. Candidates have to have the duplicate copy of the admit card to deposit at the designated examination center at the time of examination and retain the other copy for future use.
  • Candidates can download the admit card from the official institute website www.sliet.ac.in. In case of any difficulty in printing / downloading the admit card, the candidate should contact / inform the issuing authority immediately.
  • The form number / roll number is the most important way of tracking the application and the candidate should always quote it in all correspondence and enquiry related to SLIET SET 2018.
  • No candidate will be permitted to enter the examination hall without a valid admit card.
  • The admit card is non transferrable and to impersonate is a criminal offence.

Candidates must note that the Director, SLIET / Chairman, SET reserves the right to scrap any center and allot any other center to the candidates without assigning any reason.


SLIET SET 2018 Exam Pattern

SLIET SET 2018 will have only one paper of 2 hours and 30 minutes duration. The total marks for SET-I, SET-1A and SET-III is 150. For SET-V, the exam duration will be two hours and the total marks for the same will be 100.

There will be multiple choice questions with four options having only one single correct answer. For each incorrect response, one fourth (1/4th) of the total marks allotted to the question would be deducted for SET-I, SET-IA and SET-III. There will be no negative marking for SET-V (Ph.D. Programmes). Candidates must note that there will no negative marking if he/she has not answered a question and left it blank.

Ph.D ProgrammeSLIET Entrance Test (SET-V) for admission to Ph.D. Programme will consist of one paper of two hours duration. This paper will have 100 objective type questions of 1 mark each. The syllabus will differ depending on the stream in which the candidate is choosing the Ph.D programme.

SLIET SET 2018 Result

Candidates must note that the result of SLIET 2018 will be available after a few days of the commencement of the exam. The final date of the availability of the result will be available after the release of the official notification. The result will be available in online mode only on the official website of Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology.

For checking the result of SLIET 2018, candidates will have to fill up his / her roll number and other required details and their result will then be displayed on the screen.


SLIET SET 2018 Counselling

Candidates must note that there will be online counselling for all the programs (except for MBA and Ph.D). The exact schedule of the candidate’s online counselling, document verification and submission of admission fee will be displayed on the official Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology website www.sliet.ac.in.

Candidates will be given provisional allotment of seats after which their documents will be verified.

Candidates need to submit their admission fees at the SLIET Campus in Longowal. The provisional seats allotted to candidates will be cancelled if the candidate fails to get their documents verified and fee deposited during the stipulated period of time.

If a candidate fails to take part in the counselling in time due to some reason, he / she can take part in the next available counselling session. The candidate then has to keep track of the next available counselling schedule which will be displayed on the SLIET website and participate without waiting for any intimation in this regard from the university.

Candidates will be required to submit a copy of the fee deposit receipt and obtain a final seat allotment card after all documents have been verified and fees have been deposited to complete the admission process.

For Ph.D. programs offline counselling will take place in 2nd week of July, 2018 (tentative) and qualified candidates has to appear personally on the day of counselling and bring original documents with them. The schedule will be displayed on the official Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology website.
