SBI PO 2017 Application Process

SBI PO (State Bank of India Probationary Officer) entrance examination is conducted for recruiting worthy candidates to fill the coveted posts of Probationary Officer. Several aspiring candidates apply for this examination every year in hopes to become a part of the one of the biggest banks in India.

SBI PO 2017 exam is conducted in online mode. SBI PO application process will commence from Feb 7, 2017. The last date to register is March 06, 2017. Only those candidates who will be able to qualify the Prelims will be considered eligible for the next round.

SBI PO 2017 application process is similar to that of other competitive exams and will be conducted online. Candidates wishing to build a career in the banking sector must register for this exam. Before applying, it is important for the candidates to check the SBI PO eligibility criteria, in order to ensure that they meet all specified requirements.

SBI PO 2017 Vacancies

Out of the total 2260 seats available for recruitment, some are reserved by SBI for the candidates belonging to reserved categories. Candidates who are found eligible will be able to make use of this provision. Hence, proper knowledge regarding the available vacancies is essential.

SBI PO 2017 Eligibility Criteria

An applicant must meet various criteria in order to be eligible for appearing in SBI PO exam. These specifications include educational background and age of the candidate. It is strongly advised to check the details of SBI PO 2017 eligibility before applying, as the application may be rejected if the candidate is found unable to meet the standards.  

Age Limit

The candidate must be above 21 years of age and below 30 years, as on 01.04.2017, to satisfy the SBI PO eligibility criteria.

Educational Qualifications

  • The candidate must have a graduation degree in any discipline or an equivalent credential, from a recognized University.
  • Those who are in their final year of graduation programme can apply as well. However, they must be able to produce proof of having passed the graduation exam, if called for interview.
  • An applicant with a degree of Chartered Account will also be considered eligible.
  • Those with a certificate in Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) may apply as well but should ensure that the date of passing is before 31.08.2017.

Eligibility for use of Scribe

For candidates suffering from physical disabilities, the SBI authorities provide the assistance of a scribe. Some additional time is also offered, keeping in mind the disadvantage that such candidates face compared to other test takers.

The facility of scribe will be provided to a candidate who has a physical disability of 40% or more, if it is desired by the person. This assistance is available to only those candidates with disability who have physical limitation to write including that of speed.

In all instances where a scribe is used, the following will be applicable:

  • Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements for a scribe and who wish to make use of such services in the examination must carefully indicate the same in the online application form.
  • A suitable undertaking, in the prescribed format at the time must be submitted at the time of online examination.
  • A compensatory time of 20 minutes for every hour of the examination will be available to such candidates, irrespective of him availing the scribe facility.
  • The candidate must arrange their own scribe at their own cost.

SBI PO 2017 Application Fee

The amount of fees to be paid for the application process of SBI PO 2017 varies according to the category the candidate belongs to. The details are given below:

Candidates should note that, application fee once paid, will not be refunded in any case.

Mode of Fee Payment

The entire SBI PO 2017 application process will be conducted online at the official website. Candidates will be required to make the fee payment using one of the available online methods. The fee can be paid by using a credit card, a debit card or through the service of net banking.

If the candidate wishes to pay by credit or debit card, he must provide his name, his card number, expiry date on the card and CVV. For using net banking facility, the candidate must provide his username and password to log into the bank portal and make the fee payment.

In case the candidate faces any issue while filling the form or making the fee payment, he can get in touch with the official authorities. The contact number is - 022-22820427 and calls should be made between 11:00 AM to 06:00 PM on working days.

Alternatively, the candidate can choose to write a mail to sbirect@ibpsorg.org with regards to the query. The subject line must be ‘Recruitment of Probationary Officers in State Bank of India-2017’ in order for the mail to be noticed.

Pre-requisites for form filling

Before the candidate can start the process of form filling, he will need to possess the following:

  • A valid email ID, which must be kept active till the admission process, is over.
  • Scanned copy of candidate’s photograph according to the specified format
  • Scanned copy of candidate’s signature in the required format

SBI PO 2017 Application Process

It must be noted that the application process for SBI PO 2017 will be conducted online. After registration, the candidate will be able to begin the process of filling the forms. Candidates will not be able to apply in any other way. The step by step process is explained below:

  • Visit the official website – www.sbi.co.in/careers
  • Click on the relevant application link.
  • Login using the assigned credentials.
  • Provide all necessary details as asked in the form. This need not be done in a single sitting.
  • After the entire form has been filled, verify all details to ensure they are correct.
  • Click on the “submit” button. Please note that details cannot be modified after this stage.
  • Make the required fee payment using one of the online methods available.
  • Save the e-receipt generated and take a print out of the completed application form.
  • The copy of the completed form need not be sent to the bank.
  • In case payment is unsuccessful, the candidate must register afresh and start the form filling process a second time.

Photograph and Signature Guidelines

The candidate will be required to upload a scanned copy of his photograph and signature as part of the SBI PO 2017 application form. It must be noted that the online application will not be registered if these documents uploaded do not meet the specifications mentioned by SBI.

READ ABOUT SBI PO Admit Card

The face in the photograph and the letters in the signature must be clear and easy to decipher. The photograph must be a recent one and the size of the digital image must be between 20 kb to 50 kb. For the signature image, this limit is between 10 kb to 20 kb. The preferred dimension of the photograph is 200 x 230 pixels and that of the signature is 140 x 60 pixels.

Ques. Is the application process online or offline?

Ans.  The application process is entirely online.

Ques. Can I pay the application fee via Demand Draft (DD)?

Ans.  No, the fee can only be paid using the online methods of payment, such as Credit card, Debit card and Net Banking.

Ques. What if the size of the scanned images of my photograph and signature exceed the limit specified?

Ans.  In such a case, use the DPI settings of the scanner to adjust the resolution of the images. Additionally, if there is some extra space around the scanned image that is unnecessary, it can be cropped to reduce the size.

Ques. My fee payment transaction was unsuccessful. What should I do?

Ans.  Register again with a different email address and start the application process once more.

Ques. I don’t wish to appear for the exam but I have already completed the application process. Can my fee be refunded or can it be reserved for another exam?

Ans.  The fee will not be refunded or reserved for another exam under any circumstances.
