NPAT Syllabus 2017

NPAT Syllabus- NPAT 2017 is scheduled for May 13 & 14, 2017. Candidates appearing for NPAT 2017 should be aware of NPAT 2017 Syllabus and practice accordingly. It is important to know about the NPAT Exam Pattern before discussing the NPAT Syllabus.

There are 2 papers conducted in NPAT- NPAT Paper 1 (Common) and NPAT Paper 2 (Design). Each paper is further divided into 3 sections. In NPAT 2017 Paper 1, candidates will be tested based on their Proficiency in the English Language, Logical Reasoning & General Intelligence and Quantitative & Numerical Ability. NPAT Paper 2 is held to test candidates’ ability in Spatial Ability and Visualization Skills, Observation & Problem Solving and General Awareness & Design Sensibility. The duration of NPAT Exam is of 2-hours with 120 MCQs, each carrying 1 mark. ¼ marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. NPAT 2017 exam is an objective type entrance test. There will be a total of 120 questions MCQs in NPAT Paper 1 and 60 MCQs in Paper 2. Questions in Paper 1 will be based on following sections:

  • Proficiency in the English Language
  • Quantitative & Numerical Ability
  • Reasoning & General Intelligence

NMIMS Programs After Twelfth or NPAT is conducted by constituent schools of SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies. The exam is conducted for students seeking admission to various Undergraduate and Integrated Degree Programs offered by NMIMS at Mumbai, Shirpur, Indore, Navi Mumbai and Bengaluru Campuses. NMIMS will offer Management, Engineering, Pharmacy, Architecture, Commerce, Economics, Law, Science, Liberal Arts, Design, Aviation, Intellectual Property and Distance Learning courses through NPAT 2017.

    NPAT Syllabus for Proficiency in the English Language

    This section will test candidates’ proficiency in grammar and comprehension. The questions will be asked from the following topics:

    • Reading comprehension
    • Synonyms
    • Cloze test (fill in the blanks)
    • Para- Jumble
    • Spot the error/Sentence completion

    Preparation Tips

    • Candidate should get into the habit of regular reading of a newspaper and any magazine which covers the contemporary events well. This will help in building a good vocabulary and also help with the General Knowledge section.
    • Brush up the basics of grammar to tackle the error detection questions and sentence correction.
    • Identify the words you are not familiar with and try to understand their meaning and usage.
    • Listen to speeches or watch movies and/or documentaries with subtitles. This will increase the knowledge of spoken English and might come in use while attempting sentence completion and para jumble questions.
    • Candidates should talk to people in English. They may feel sluggish and shy at first and will make lots of mistakes but soon they will discover that with more talking, their confidence, as well as their accuracy, is increasing.

    Preparation Tips

    • Spend some seconds over a question and study each question carefully. A brief explanation of why each choice is correct or incorrect should go into candidates’ mind.
    • Candidates should never assume or use any information which is not given in the question. Observe only the information given in each question when choosing among the alternative responses.
    • Read both the factual passage and the sentence completion instruction carefully. Both must be considered in making your choice.
    • Be sure to read all the response choices carefully before eliminating or choosing one of them.
    • Candidate can solve most of these questions by following certain tricks and shortcut methods. Therefore, a practice of previous year papers and chapter wise questions is important.
    • Candidate should solve questions regularly to get a good grip of it as ample practice should be there.
    • Candidate can also prepare for this section is by regularly solving crossword puzzles, Sudoku, riddles etc.

    NPAT Paper 2 – Design
