NID 2017 ELIGIBILITY
NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
National Institute of Design (NID) is a design institute situated in Ahmedabad, India. Three major courses are offered by the NID viz. Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD), Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Master of Design (M.Des).

NID admits students on the basis of their individual capabilities instead of just focussing on the past academic qualifications. NID admits students for 2 of its programmes which are B.Des and M.Des. The admission procedure consists of the following 3 stages:
STAGE 1: Design Aptitude Test (DAT)
STAGE 2: Studio Test
STAGE 3: Personal Interview
The candidates must fulfil the NID 2017 Eligibility before beginning the NID 2017 Application Process. The NID 2017 Eligibility includes the age criteria and academic qualification of the candidates.
The Bachelor of Design programme at NID is of 4 years and is conducted at the Ahmedabad campus. The total number of seats for the B.Des programme including the reserved seats are 100. The supernumerary seats for the Bachelor programme for overseas candidates is 15. The following table shows its areas of specialisation:

There is a mandatory foundation programme of 1 year for the candidates admitted to the B.Des course at NID.
Upon completion of the foundation programme, the candidate will be allotted a discipline solely on his/her performance during the past 1 year and on the number of seats available in the desired discipline.
The medium of instructions and correspondence at NID is English.

The upper age limit for the candidates under this course is 20 years on or before July 1, 2016. The reserved category candidates can avail an age relaxation of 3 years in the given upper age limit.
Candidates appearing or who have already passed the qualifying examinations under the Higher Secondary (10+2) from AISSCE/IB/ICSE or any recognised Board during academic year 2015-2016 shall be eligible for applying for the Academic Year 2017-18.

It is a 2.5 years Masters programme offered by the NID in the following disciplines at the Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Gandhinagar campuses. The table below gives the number of seats in each discipline of specialisation in the Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Gandhinagar campuses. There are two Supernumerary seats reserved for overseas candidates in each discipline of specialisation mentioned in the table below.

Candidates applying to the Masters Programme can apply to a maximum of 2 disciplines out of the above.
Applications once received are not in any case transferrable to any other discipline at any stage of application or admission or during the course.
Eligibility Criteria for Master Of Design
Following conditions must necessarily be fulfilled by the candidates applying for the Masters programme at NID:
The upper age limit for the candidates applying for this course is 30 years on or before July 1, 2016. The upper age limit for the reserved category candidates can be relaxed by 3 years.

NOTE: An Equivalence Certificate must compulsorily be obtained by the candidate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, prior to admission (website: www.aiuweb.org), in case the candidate has obtained the degree/certificate from any University/Board of any foreign country.
The Graduate Diploma Program in Design (GDPD) is a 2 semester Foundation course which is further followed by 6 semesters of specialized studies in any of the following 3 disciplines offered under GDPD:
Applications for 60 seats have been invited for the GDPD programme for 2016-17 session.
The Eligibility Criteria for GDPD Candidates for NID 2017 is similar to the Eligibility of Bachelor’s Programme through NID 2017.
NID Vijayawada and NID Ahmedabad admit candidates for whom a common Design Aptitude Test (DAT) is conducted. However, NID Vijayawada conducts further rounds to admit candidates who opt for this campus.
Foreign candidates who hold citizenship of any other country other than Republic of India will be eligible to apply under the Overseas Category. Overseas category comprises of 15% supernumerary seats under B.Des and M.Des programmes.
NRIs have to apply as Indian citizens only.
Candidates holding foreign passport having a valid PIO or OCI status can apply under any of the category i.e. either the ‘Indian’ or ‘Overseas’ category. Candidates applying under the overseas category have to pay fees equivalent to foreign citizens.
Only online applications will be accepted for candidates applying under the Overseas Category. The official admissions website in this regard is http://admissions.nid.edu
Candidates opting for the Bachelors or Masters programme under the overseas category can appear for DAT only at the Ahmedabad campus, which will be followed by Stage 2 and Stage 3 examinations.
The NID Hall Tickets will be available for download at the official website and it will be the responsibility of the candidate to take a print of the same.
For acceptance of offer for admission, the overseas candidates will have to appear before the authorities in person at the respective campus of NID.
Candidates should produce the original documents and attested copies thereof as under:
Before the starting of the programme, the candidate has to submit his/her Student Visa for the duration of course at NID.
In case the selected candidates are unable to pay the requisite amount of fees or fail to produce the relevant documents before registration, their application will be cancelled.
