NID 2017 Application Process

National Institute of Design provides admission to the candidates who have applied for Bachelor and Master Programme in Design on the basis of the Design Aptitude Test (DAT). NID 2017 is conducted in various NID 2017 Exam Centers in cities across India. The NID 2017 provides admissions to the candidates in various NID campuses in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Bengaluru. The candidates who satisfy the NID 2017 Eligibility Criteria can fill and submit the NID 2017 Application Form very carefully.

The NID 2017 Application Process is an online process which commences from October 12, 2017 and will extend to November 27, 2017. The candidates who successfully submit the NID 2017 Application Form shall receive the NID 2017 Admit Card from December 24, 2017. The NID 2017 is a three stage examination namely DAT 2017 followed by Studio Test and Personal Interview.

The candidates are required to qualify all the three stages of the NID 2017 to avail admissions for the desired programme (B.Des, GDPD or both). Before applying, candidates must know everything about NID 2017 eligibility criteria, number of seats, NID 2017 Reservation Policy and other relevant information related to the NID 2017 Application Process and the NID 2017 Selection Process.

How to Apply for NID 2017

  1. Sign Up
  • Candidates must sign up at http://admissions.nid.edu and make sure that the email ID and the mobile number provided are valid.
  • Candidates should sign up with their Date of Birth and email ID and then fill the required details in the application form.
  1. Fill the NID 2017 Application Form
  • Applicants filling the form for Bachelor degree should make a choice for a specific programme among B.Des or GDPD or both. This choice cannot be changed after the payment is completed.
  • Fill all the required details in the NID 2017 Application Form.
  • Choose “Save and exit”, you can always login to edit or complete the application form or you can proceed to upload the photograph and signature.
  1. Upload Photograph and Signature
  • Scan the photograph. It must be in JPEG format and less than 100 KB of size then choose the scanned copy and click on Upload.
  • Scan the signature. It must be in JPEG format and less than 100 KB of size then choose the scanned copy and click of Upload.
  • After completing the upload, save and exit the form or click on “Save and Proceed” for the payment option and complete the application process.
  1. Payment of Application Fee and Print
  • Select the payment mode to pay the application fee by Credit or Debit card or Demand Draft as the offline method.
  • Fill all the required details.
  • After completing the payment process, you will not be able to make any changes in the NID 2017 Application Form.
  • Applicants will then be redirected to print the application form or can save the pdf file.
  • The Demand Draft should be addressed to “All India Management Association” and fill the details required in DD to complete the online procedure.
  • To complete the NID 2017 Application Process, send the demand draft and a print out of your application so that it reaches the informed address before 11 December, 2016.
  • So as to complete the, the candidate must send out the demand draft and a copy of the NID 2017 Application Form to the following address:

  • Post submission of the Application fee, you are directed to the print section to print the submitted NID 2017 Application Form.

NID 2017 Application Fee

The Application Fee for NID 2017 varies for different for different programmes. It differs for every reserved category in NID 2017 The candidates can pay the Application Fee for NID 2017 through either online mode or offline mode. The online mode includes payment through Credit Card/Debit Card. The offline mode involves payment through a Demand Draft in favor of ‘All India Management Association’ payable at New Delhi. Following table gives the application fee for all the categories:

      NID 2017 Application Process for Overseas Category

      Fifteen percent supernumerary seats of each course in NID 2017 is reserved for the candidates falling under Overseas Category.

      Eligibility:

      1. Foreign citizens (candidates applying holding citizenship of any other country than republic of India) can apply under this category.
      2. Candidates who fall in the NRI category will have to apply as Indian citizens.
      3. Foreign passport holders with a valid PIO or OCI have a choice to apply under either the ‘Indian’ or ‘Overseas’ category.
      4. Candidates who choose to take admission under overseas category will have to pay the fee at par with the foreign students.

      How to Apply:

      1. Candidates applying for B.Des and M.Des under this category will have to apply online on the official admission website as per the duly schedule announced. Admit cards for these candidates will be available online on the same date as others.
      2. After applying, candidates under overseas category can appear only in Ahmedabad immediately followed by Stage 2 and Stage 3 exams.
      3. Selected candidates will be offered admission in NID, following documents will be required to produce at the registration process:
      • An attested copy of the relevant pages of the passport containing details of the applicant.
      • For B.Des applicants: An attested copy of marksheet of SSC and HSC examinations. Candidates appearing for SSC exams will have to show a bonafide certificate from the school.
      • For M.Des applicants: Attested copies of the marksheet of SSC and HSC, completed years of graduation and degree certificate/ provisional certificate/ passing certificate.
      • An equivalence certificate must be obtained from Association of Indian University (AIU), New Delhi.

      Eligibility for NID 2017

      Bachelor of Design

      1. Age Limit

      The maximum age limit is 20 years for the candidates applying for the Bachelor Programme as on July 1, 2016. General Category applicants born on or before July 1, 1996 are not eligible. Reserved Category applicants born on or before July 1, 1993 are not eligible.

      1. Educational Qualification

      Applicants who have passed or will appear the qualifying exam under the higher secondary of 10+2 from any recognized Education Board such as AISSE/ICSE/CBSE or equivalents as on the beginning of the academic session of 2015-16 or any other equivalent qualifying examination as below:

      • The final examination of 10+2 system conducted by a Central Board or State Board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
      • The Final Examination of Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy.
      • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National School of Open Learning with a minimum of 5 subjects.
      • Any Public School or Board or University examination in India or in a foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities.
      • H.S.C. Vocational Qualification
      • General Certificate Examination from London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka at the Advanced Level.
      • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
      • Candidates who have completed 12th standard outside India whose board is not recognized by the Board of India should produce a certificate to Association of Indian University as a proof that they have passed their 12th standard.

      Master of Design

      1. Age Limit

      The maximum age limit is 30 years for the candidates applying for the Bachelor Programme as on July 1, 2016. General Category applicants born on or before July 1, 1986 are not eligible. Reserved Category applicants born on or before July 1, 1983 are not eligible.

      1. Educational Qualification

      Applicants will have to proof that they have passed the following equivalently qualifying exams before July 6, 2016.

      • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under the 10+2+4 system, from any university recognized by law in India.
      • Diploma in Design under 10+2+4 system, from any university recognized by law of India.

      Q. Are the interviews conducted on the campus?

      Ans.The interviews for B.Des will be conducted in Ahmedabad. For M.Des, interviews will be conducted immediately after the studio tests at the same test centers. Only the selected candidates after the studio tests will be eligible for interviews.
