NIFT 2018 Application Form

NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) conducts entrance test for students seeking admission in various programs offered by different branches of the institute located in in Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Srinagar, Raebareli, Bhopal, Navi Mumbai, Bhubaneshwar, Gandhinagar, Jodhpur, Kolkata, Kannur, Kangra, Patna, Shillong. This institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the fields of fashion designing.

The application procedure for NIFT 2018 begins in first week of November 2017.  Application procedure is carried out through online mode. Steps involved in application process include: Registration, NIFT 2018 application form filling, uploading the documents required, payment of application fee.

Candidates need to register at the official website before beginning the application form filling. After successful registration, candidates need to use their email id and date of birth as Login Id and Password to successfully login and fill the application form. It is advisable for candidates to carefully fill the application form to avoid any mistakes. There is no scope of making corrections to NIFT 2018 Application Form, once it has been submitted. How to apply for NIFT 2018

The application procedure for NIFT is online based. Candidates wishing to apply for NIFT must visit the official site (www.nift.ac.in) to perform form filling procedure. NIFT Application form must not be sent via post as it will not be accepted through offline mode. Perform the steps mentioned below to complete NIFT 2018 Application Process:

Registration

  • Go to the official website.
  • Click on the link that says ‘Application Form’.
  • Already registered candidates can Login using the registered email ID, date of birth and entering the verification code shown below.
  • Candidates, who have not already registered, should register themselves by clicking on the link ‘Fresh Candidate (CLICK HERE) to create log in’.
  • Provide personal details including name, date of birth, valid email ID, category and also mention program which they wish to pursue.
  • Upon completion of the above steps, the registration process is complete.

NIFT Application form filling

The following is a step wise explanation of how candidates can fill NIFT 2018 Application process.

  • Login using email id and date of birth and enter the verification code shown below.
  • Click on ‘Submit’.
  • You will be redirected to a fresh page.
  • Enter details asked, apart from those provided at the time of registration.

This includes details like

  1. Parents/guardian’s name
  2. Gender
  3. Nationality
  4. Preference of exam centers
  5. Details regarding academic qualification
  • Submit authentic details by click on ‘submit’ tab.
  • Choose ‘I AGREE’ in check box after reading the declaration and save and continue after carefully going through all the details filled.

Uploading required Documents

Upload scanned copies of candidate’s photograph and signature in the new page. For this purpose, they must have the required documents in the prescribed formats ready at the time of application filling.

Application Fee Payment

  • Candidates are next taken to a page regarding the payment of the application fee.
  • Mode of payment is either via net banking or credit card/debit card. Candidates can submit fee via DD as well.
  • After online payment, candidates can proceed to ‘SUBMIT’ the application online itself.
  • If the candidate chooses to pay via DD, then a print out of the application must be taken and this application must be sent along with the DD to the address mentioned in the ‘Application Fee’ section of this article.      

Important Documents Required

Since application process for NIFT 2018 is entirely online, it becomes necessary for candidate to have a high quality scanned copy of all the important documents. These scanned documents can then be uploaded on online portal.

Candidates must ensure they have the following information before registering and starting to fill out the application.

  1. Candidates must submit a valid email id and phone number at the time of registration. This information must not be changed anytime thereafter.
  2. Students must have the details of the payment method. If online payment is chosen, then candidates must have the requisite credit card/debit card details.If application fee is paid via DD, candidates must have all the details regarding the DD.
  3.  High quality scanned images of the candidate’s photograph and signature in the prescribed dimension in .jpeg or .jpg format. The size of the file must be less than 50kb.

Candidates who fail to apply within the last date must pay an additional INR 5,000 if they wish to apply.

  • The payment of the application fee for the NIFT 2018 can be done in online (debit/credit card or net banking) mode or via Demand Draft issued in favor of “NIFT HO”, payable at New Delhi.
  • It is upon the candidates to bear the expense of any extra bank charges like the service charge or transaction charge in case of online payment.
  • The alternate method of paying the application fee is through Demand Draft (DD).Candidates must make sure that the details of the Demand Draft are provided in the application form.
  • Students must also ensure that date, amount, name and signature of the issuing authority are present in the DD. 
  • Candidates using DD method of payment must ensure that DD, along with a print out of completely filled application, reaches the following address in time.

Retrieving Login ID and Password

Applicants must make note of NIFT application number as this will be used to download NIFT Admit Card. In case this NIFT application number is lost, candidates can retrieve the application number by logging in to the registered account and clicking on ‘view application’.


NIFT Application Status

Sufficient care must be taken while filling out details in online application form. There is no means of obtaining this application in the offline mode. It is advisable for candidates to take a print of the completely filled application and make note of transaction ID after the payment is successful, in case of online fee payment. The submission of the application online has to be done before the deadline.

Candidates choosing to pay via DD must take print of the NIFT application and sent the application along with the DD to the address mentioned above in the ‘Application Fee’ section. Application status is deemed to be successful, if, and only if, the application reaches address before last date. Application submitted/delivered after last date shall be considered as rejected unless supported by aforementioned late fee. 
 


NIFT Application Process for International Candidates

15% of total seats, which translates to 5 seats in each course at NIFT Delhi, NIFT Mumbai, NIFT Kolkata, NIFT Bangalore, NIFT Hyderabad, NIFT Chennai, NIFT Gandhinagar, NIFT Raebareli and NIFT Srinagar, are reserved for foreign nationals and NRIs.

The admissions into courses in these cities are based on the following exam scores for each programme.

Bachelor’s Degree (B.Des and B.F.Tech) - SAT-1 score

Master’s Program (MFM) - GMAT score

Master’s Program (M.Des and M.F.Tech) - GRE score

Candidates must denote NIFT program choice in GRE/GMAT/ SAT-I. If many attempts of the above mentioned tests are given, then the most successful attempt (in terms of marks scored) will be taken in to consideration.

As usual, NIFT application procedure is online. Candidates have to visit the official website- www.nift.ac.in and register and apply before the last date. Candidates have to pay the application fee of $100 using online NIFT Payment Gateway.

Candidates seeking admission in NIFT Bachelor’s Degree program must ensure that they send the SAT-1 score from their College Board to the head office of NIFT in New Delhi. Designated Institution (DI) code (7258) should be mentioned by candidates at the time of registration while sending the scores.

Similarly, the candidates seeking admission in the NIFT Masters Degree program must ensure that they send the score (GMAT score in case MFM and GRE score in case of M.Des and M.FTech) from their College Board to the head office of NIFT in New Delhi

Considering scores obtained in the tests (SAT-1/GMAT/GRE for each of the Bachelors and Master Degree Programmes, as applicable) and taking the preference of the candidate the branch of NIFT and course, seats are allotted.


Form Correction

Candidates have to be extremely carefully while filling out NIFT 2018 Application Form. This is because there is no way of making changes or corrections to the application once it is submitted.
