MH CET 2018 Exam Pattern

MH CET 2018 is a state level entrance exam conducted by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Maharashtra, every year to fill seats in various UG and PG courses offered by the colleges in the state of Maharashtra.

  • MH CET 2018 exam is scheduled from the second week of May 2018 onwards.
  • MH CET 2018 exam would have different syllabus and pattern and would comprise four papers.
  • The exam comprises MHT CET 2018, MH CET Law 2018, MAH MBA 2018 and MAH MCA 2018 exams.
  • The exam would be a pen and paper (offline mode) based MCQ type exam.  
  • For engineering and pharmacy, the exam would be based on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.
  • For MBA candidates, the exam would be designed to test their aptitude level competency.

MH CET 2018 Exam Pattern in Detail

MH CET 2018 is a pen and paper based MCQ type exam. Candidates would be tested for their ability and competence in handling problems from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology (PCM)/(PCB), English, legal aptitude (For law candidates), Reasoning (For MBA), Computer applications (MCA). For your reference detail pattern of MH CET 2018 is mentioned below.

MH CET 2018/MHT CET 2018 for Engineering, Medical and Pharmacy

MH CET/MHT CET 2018 is conducted by DTE Maharashtra to admit candidates to B. Tech/B.E or B. Pharm courses. The exam consists of MCQ type questions to be attempted within 90 minutes. Given below is the detailed table of the exam pattern followed for MH CET 2018/MHT CET 2018.

MAH MBA CET 2018 is the entrance exam conducted to admit eligible candidates to MBA programs offered by various institutes in Maharashtra State. The exam will be based on four sections namely, Logical Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning, Quantitative Attitude and Verbal Ability/Reading Comprehension.

The exam is conducted to test candidate’s ability to answer questions based on Computer Application and Awareness. If a candidate qualifies in this examination, he/she will be eligible to take admission to MCA course at Institutes across Maharashtra state.

MH CET Law 2018

To admit eligible candidates to law courses across the concerned institutes in the state of Maharashtra, candidates must appear for MH CET Law 2018 exam. The exam covers 5 sections to be solved within a time span of 120 minutes.

In total, there would be four different exams for 4 different courses which would be conducted under the umbrella of MH CET 2018. Admissions would be made based on the performance of the candidates in each of the exam (for which application has been made by the candidate).

Marking Scheme in MH CET 2018

Total marks scored by a candidate in MH CET 2018 would be calculated based on the calculation of questions attempted and marks per question. The following marking scheme is applicable for MH CET 2018.

  • Every objective question would carry equal mark. Marks would be awarded if the answer is found to be correct.
  • More than one answer for a question would be treated as incorrect answer and no marks would be awarded in that case even if one of the marked answers is correct.

Note: There is no provision for negative marking in any of the exam except MAH MCA CET 2018. 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrectly marked answer.  

Exam Syllabus

The syllabus for MH CET 2018 exam is largely based on the syllabus of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics of class XI and XII. While for MBA exam it would be based on the general aptitude similar in lines to the CAT exam.

For MCA exam, it would be based on the graduation level (BCA) curriculum of computer concepts and the second section would be based on general awareness and aptitude.

The syllabus for MH CET Law 2018 would be based on legal aptitude, general awareness, reasoning and GK/Current affairs. Candidates are required to cover these topics based on the analysis of previous year papers.

Since MH CET 2018 is on similar lines with other engineering/medical/law/pharmacy/MBA/MCA entrance exams like JEE Main, NEET, CAT and CLAT and the syllabus is also quite similar candidates can refer to same sources. For your reference, we have tabulated the booklist for MH CET 2018.

MH CET 2018 Important Instructions

Candidates are advised to follow the certain instructions on the day of exam and week prior to the same.

  • Candidates would be required to select the correct option displayed on the screen in order to mark their answer. Necessary instructions would be provided by invigilator in this regard. 
  • Try to make yourself calm and composed and avoid getting into panic mode even if don’t know the answer for some questions. Hold on and move forward.
  • Make arrangements for necessary documents like admit card and Photo Id proof which are required to be carried to the exam venue a day before the exam date.
  • Visit the exam centre before the exam day to get an idea of the time taken and shortest route to the exam venue from your location.
  • In case the exam venue is far away from your current location then you should make some arrangements near the exam center beforehand to avoid last hour rush.
