National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is a programme, which is entirely related to the science and engineering courses. The main objective of NPTEL programme is to provide quality education through web and video content based on engineering syllabus across the country. Qualified lecturers associated to the IITs and IISc provide the classes on NPTEL. The content is delivered through web (e-learning) and videos in a classroom setup.
NPTEL was formed by the collaboration of the 7 Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay , IIT Delhi , IIT Guwahati , IIT Kanpur , IIT Kharagpur , IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee) and Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISc Bangalore). The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, funds NPTEL.
For many students studying in any IITs or not, NPTEL will prove to be a boon. For an IIT or IISc student it is beneficial because he/ she can go through the subject that they might have missed or can listen or study about the same again for better understanding. For the students who are not a part of any IITs or IISc institutes he/ she can still visit the website to look up for the subject of their interest.
