GATE 2018 Result

GATE Result will be published on the official GATE website. Candidates can check the GATE 2018 Result via online mode through the official website by entering their roll number and other details.  After the declaration of result, GATE Score cards will be available for the candidates who secure marks equal or more than the GATE cut-off marks. Here we will tell you all the details regarding GATE 2018 result.

GATE 2018 will be conducted for total 23 papers for M.Tech./Ph.D. programmes. Candidates are allowed to appear in only one of the 23 papers. The examination mode will be online only i.e. Computer Based Test. The examination duration will be 3 hours and total 65 questions of maximum 100 marks will be asked. Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture and those who are pursuing the final year of such program are eligible to apply for GATE.


How to Check GATE Result 2018?

Candidates have to log in through GOAPS (official website of GATE) to check their GATE 2018 result and if they qualify the exam they can also download the score card.  The hard copies of GATE 2018 result or score card will not be sent or issued therefore candidates have to download their result online.

The process to check GATE result 2018 is also given below.

  • Visit the official website for GATE 2018
  • Click on ‘GATE Result’ tab
  • Enter required details like GATE 2018 Registration Number, Roll Number and Date of Birth in the space provided
  • Verify the entered Details
  • Click on ‘Submit’ button
  • GATE 2018 result will be shown on the screen.  

GATE 2018 result will be indicating whether you are qualified or not and if you have qualified the exam only then you can download GATE 2018 score card.


Details Present in GATE Result 2018

GATE 2018 score card reflects the candidate’s performance in entrance test. The facility to download the score card will be available from the last week of March 2018. The GATE 2018 Result will display the following information:

  • Candidate's Name
  • GATE 2018 Registration No
  • GATE Examination Paper and Code
  • Marks obtained out of 100
  • Qualifying marks for the GATE paper
  • For candidates who have qualified, the All India Rank (AIR) will also be displayed.

GATE 2018 Score Card

The qualified candidates are provided with a GATE score card which has the validity of three years from the date of announcement of result. Candidates who have qualified the exam can download their GATE score card through GOAPS. The score card of GATE 2018 can be downloaded between March and May 2018. It is the most essential document therefore candidates must download and preserve the soft copies till 2021 as GATE score is valid for 3 years.

How to Download GATE Score Card 2018-

  • Visit GOAPS (GATE Online Application Process System)
  • Enter required details like GATE 2018 Enrollment ID/Email Address, GOAPS password
  • Click on ‘Submit’ button
  • GATE Score card 2018 will appear on the screen
  • Download and save it for future references.

The GATE 2018 score card has to be shown at the time of M.E./M.Tech admission process and PSUs recruitment. GATE 2018 scorecard will have following details-

  • Name & photograph of Candidate
  • GATE 2018 registration number
  • Gender of Candidate
  • QR code for validating score card
  • Name of examination paper
  • GATE 2018 Score (out of 1000)
  • GATE 2018 Marks (out of 100)
  • Validity of GATE Score – From March, 2018 to March, 2021
  • All India Rank in the appeared paper
  • GATE Qualifying Marks for different categories
  • Number of candidates participated in the exam.

The process of standard deviation is implemented on the raw scores obtained by the candidates while calculating GATE 2018 score (out of 1000). The raw score is calculated as per the marking scheme of GATE 2018 for papers that will be held in a single session while, for papers conducted in multiple slots and sessions a process of normalization will be adopted to obtain the raw scores. The process of normalization will be implemented for CE, CS, EC, EE and ME papers as it will be held in multi- sessions and slots.


GATE 2018 Answer Key

The official GATE 2018 Answer Key will be released within a week after the examination date. Final answer key along with question papers of all sessions has been published on official website. With this answer key students can predict their performance in the examination and also challenge the answer key.


GATE 2018 Cutoff

The cutoff score of GATE 2018 is the minimum marks a candidate must secure to qualify the entrance exam. GATE Cut off marks will decide the candidate’s eligibility for admission to IITs, IISc and various other participating institutes. GATE 2018 cut off marks varies stream-wise and category-wise.

More than 8 lakh candidates appeared for GATE 2016, out of which as many as 1.35 lakh candidates qualified this national level exam. The table below shows GATE 2016 cut off score for popular streams:

GATE 2018 Counseling

There is no common counselling is conducted for GATE by IITs for providing admissions. Candidates have to apply individually to the IITs and IISc when the admission notification is released. However NITs organize the Centralized Counselling for M.Tech. / M.Arch./ M.Plan. admissions (CCMT).

The CCMT is the common counselling conducted by NITs every year. It is an online admission process organized for NITs and other centrally funded institutions. The counselling process is based on the GATE scores. It comprises of three rounds that are as following:

  • Step 1: Online Registration, Choice Filling and Locking of Choices
  • Step 2: Online Seat Allotment, Seat Acceptance fee deposit and Reporting at Institute
  • Step 3: Getting Admission with document Verification to Allotted Institute

Documents Required for GATE Counselling

Candidates are required to bring the following documents for document verification process of admission procedure:

  • Original GATE score card and admit card.
  • Provisional seat allotment letter.
  • Photo ID proof.
  • Proof of Date of Birth
  • 12th class mark sheet.
  • Mark sheet of qualifying examination (all semesters).
  • Category certificate (if applicable).
  • Passport size colored photographs.
  • Seat acceptance fee deposit proof.

Application Process for the admission in to the IITs and IISc Bangalore will start before the GATE 2018 Result is declared. Candidates can check the respective institute’s website to know the application dates for admissions to PG programmes. Candidates are required to apply to the institutes as per the specified dates to participate in admission process through GATE 2018.   

PSUs who consider GATE 2018 score for recruitment also announce their application process separately. Candidates have to fill the application form of respective PSUs to participate in PSUs Recruitment through GATE 2018.
