NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, abbreviated as GATE is conducted every year for admission to M.Tech/Ph.D in the field of engineering and technology. It is conducted on rotational basis in zonal IITs and IISc Bangalore.
GATE 2018 Notification is expected to be out in July, 2017. GATE 2018 Application Form will start from first week of September, 2017. The exams will be conducted by IIT Guwahati starting from the first week of February, 2018. The GATE Registration will be carried out at the institute’s official website
GATE 2018 is a computer based test with 65 Questions to be solved within 3 hours. Two types of questions are asked in GATE- Objective Type and Numerical Type. Virtual calculators will be provided to solve numerical type questions.

Candidates are advised to check GATE 2018 eligibility criteria before moving to the registration process. GATE 2018 enables the candidates from Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates to seek admissions to M.Tech or PhD courses in various IITs and IISc. GATE 2018 admit cards will be available to download from 1st week of January, 2018. GATE Admit Card can be obtained by entering Enrollment ID and Password. Candidates are advised to get multiple copies of GATE 2018 admit cad to avoid any problem on exam day.
At exam centre, it is mandatory to carry a photo identification document. Candidates may bring any one from the following- Passport, Driving License, PAN Card, Employee ID, College ID, Voter ID, Aadhaar UID and Notarized Affidavit with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth & Residential Address.

Eligible candidates can apply for one stream among all the 23 papers for which GATE 2018 is conducted. GATE 2018 is a computer based test with 65 questions that are to be solved in 3 hours. The total weightage of GATE 2018 is 100 marks. There will be 2 types of questions in GATE exam- Objective Type and Numerical Type. Numerical type questions are to be solved with the help of virtual calculator and no options will be provided for the same.

Before filling the GATE 2018 application form, the new user must register on the official website of GOAPS. Here are the steps required for registration process:
Once GATE registration is done, fill in all the details required such as Personal Details and Educational Details. Preview the form to verify the information before proceeding to next step.
After completing GATE application form, ‘submit’ it and a new page will appear. The candidates will be given options to pay the application fee through online and offline mode. If candidate opts for online mode, the payment can be made via net banking, credit card/debit card. For offline payment an e-challan has to be generated.
The GATE application fee for female candidates and reserved category candidates amounts to INR 750. All the other candidates shall pay INR 1500.
If the candidate wishes to make any modifications after the submission of GATE 2018 Application Form, they will be able to do it on the separate dates given by GATE authorities. The modifications can be done against nominal online payment only, e-challan will not be accepted.

GATE answer key is released after few days of the commencement of the GATE 2018 exam. The answer key is released for various streams for all the 23 papers. Candidates can use the answer keys to examine their performance in the test. They can also challenge the answers, if wrong by paying nominal fee for it.
GATE 2018 result is expected to be released in last week of March, 2018. GATE Result will not only ensure admission but also, candidates can fetch jobs in private and government organizations in technical field. GATE results is valid for the period of 3 years. After the candidates obtain their results, counselling process begins separately at various IITs, NITs and other institutes. Counselling will begin in 2nd week of April, 2018. Candidates must keep themselves updated of its status.
For admission in NITs, IIITs and in some government funded colleges, a centralized counselling– CCMT (Centralized Counseling for M. Tech/M. Plan) will be conducted. IITs and IISc will conduct their separate counselling process. Most of the other participating universities and state wise institutions will conduct their own counseling process.
