STATE LEVEL ONLINE TEST
Preparing for VIT is not a matter of joke, and requires healthy concern and a lot of hard labor. Hence one requires getting some good quality of books which are not only full of the required knowledge, but is also capable of giving the students the extra confidence that they require. The candidates must be preparing rigorously for the exam now and we hope that the preparation is being done as per the Chemistry syllabus of VITEEE.
VITEEE 2017 will be conducted from April 05, to April 16, 2017. The exam will be held in 3 sessions per day (Shift 1 – 9 am to 11:30 am, Shift 2 – 12:30 pm to 3 pm, Shift 3 – 4 pm to 6:30 pm). The Result of an examination will be declared on or before April 24, 2017.
VIT entrance exam examines candidates on their speed and analytical abilities. Moreover, since there is no negative marking, so the aspirants should try to cover maximum amount of syllabus without going into going much into the intricacies.
For the candidates appearing for the examination, the University has released the VITEEE syllabus, for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, and English subjects. Candidates can find below a list of important topics to be prepared in Chemistry section, along with a VITEEE exam pattern.
NCERT is best suited for the preparation of Inorganic Chemistry. Focus particularly on areas like Atomic Structure, Electrochemistry, Biomolecules, Organic Nitrogen Compounds, Alcohols and Ethers.

Proper analysis of the exam: Before commencing your preparation, identify what exactly is asked in the exam, what it focuses on and what exactly is the pattern. VITEEE asks objective type questions which are application based and test thinking abilities.
Emphasize on clearing basics: VIT entrance exam covers the syllabus of State Board of Higher Secondary School along with the CBSE syllabus. Thus, first cover the entire syllabus of the NCERTs as they help in laying good foundation. Once you have completed these books, you can then refer other books.
Identify the topics which are most important: One cannot dare to be selective in his studies while planning to take an elite exam like VITEEE. However, you can just identify the most important sections so that you can work harder on those areas.

In chemistry, 40 questions will be asked in VITEEE exam 2017. Candidates can find below a list of in-depth information regarding VITEEE Syllabus for Chemistry exam. Alcohols and Ethers
a. Common reducing agents are: LiA1H4; NaBH4; hydrogen in the presence of Ni or Pt or Pd; Na and ethanol.
b. NaBH4 is a mild reducing agent and cannot reduce carboxylic acid and their esters.
c. Fermentation takes place under anaerobic conditions

a. Distinction between Aldehydes and Ketones: Aldehydes show the following characteristics tests. Ketones do not show these tests – Tollens Test, Fehling’s Test, Schiff’s Test
b. Grignard reagent reacts both with acetaldehyde and acetone.
c. A compound containing the carbon-carbon and carbon-oxygen double bonds in conjugation is known as alpha-beta unsaturated carbonyl compound.
d. Oxidation of primary alcohols & Oxidation of secondary alcohols-

Organic Nitrogen Compounds
a. Methods of preparation of Amines are: Reduction of nitro compounds, reaction of halides with ammonia, Hofmann degradation of amides, reduction of nitriles and amides.
b. Test for primary Amine (Carbylamines reaction) the treatment of a primary amine with chloroform and alcoholic potash produces carbylamines (isocyanides) which has most offensive smell. This test is not exhibited by secondary and tertiary amines.
c. In gaseous phase, the order of basicity is R3N >R2NH > RNH2 > NH3
d. Test for Secondary Amine is Liebermann reaction

a. There are three categories of carbohydrates: Monosaccharides, Oligosaccharides, Polysaccharides.

VITEEE Exam is a computer based test (CBT) consists of all objective type questions. Exam is divided in 3 main parts stated as below, physics and chemistry are compulsory to attend whereas candidates can choose between Mathematics and Biology according to their specialization.
There is no negative marking in VITEEE.
Note: Candidates attempting Parts – Physics, Chemistry and Biology are eligible for Computer Science and Engg (Spec. in Bioinformatics) B. Tech. Bio-Medical Engineering, Biotechnology only whereas candidates attempting Parts – Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics are eligible for all 14 Bachelor of Tech courses.
Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology are eligible for B. Tech. Bio-Medical Engineering and Biotechnology programmes. They are also eligible for B. Tech. Computer Science and Engineering (Spec. in Bioinformatics) but after joining, registering Mathematics as bridge course is mandatory.
