Jharkhand LE B.Tech 2017

Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) conducts Jharkhand LE B.Tech (Engineering Course Lateral Entry Entrance Competitive Exam) every year for students seeking admissions in to the 2nd year of undergraduate engineering.

Jharkhand LE B.Tech 2017 is scheduled to be conducted on April 30, 2017 for all category of candidates, at exam centers in Ranchi. Students seeking admission into 2nd year (III Semester) of engineering courses offered by the participating institutes, have to be Indian citizens and permanent/local residents of Jharkhand.

Candidates can apply for the examination in the online method. Jharkhand LE B.Tech Application Fee of INR 900 has to be paid by students belonging to General/BC-I/BC-II categories and INR 450 by students belonging to  SC/ST category must be paid through credit/debit card/net banking. Application fee for all the female candidates (of any category) is INR 450.

Candidates need to download Jharkhand LE B.Tech 2017 Admit Card from the official website www.jceceb.nic.in as this is a mandatory document for appearing for the exam.

Jharkhand LE B.Tech examination is a 2 hour objective type exam of 150 marks in total. The marks are evenly distributed for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics sections. Each section has 50 questions. 1 mark is awarded for every right answer and 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong response. Jharkhand LE B.Tech 2017 Result will be declared in the official website and candidates will be sorted on the basis of their performance and marks scored. Applicants can then pay the Personal Interview fee and attend the interview at venues announced by the authority.

Jharkhand LE B.Tech 2017 Eligibility Criteria

In order to apply for Jharkhand LE B.Tech 2017, candidates have to check the eligibility criteria first. There is age restriction to apply for this exam.

Candidates fulfilling other aspects of eligibility criteria can appear for the exam.

Diploma candidates have to fulfill the eligibility conditions mentioned below:

  • Students must have passed qualifying Diploma Examination from any institution approved by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education).
  • Candidates must have secured an aggregate of 45 % in the appropriate branch of Engineering or Technology.
  • Candidates belonging to the reserved category must have secured an aggregate of 40% in the appropriate branch of engineering or technology. 

Candidates from the B.Sc stream have to fulfill the following eligibility conditions:

  • Students must have passed in the B.Sc degree examination from a recognized university; the recognition is as defined by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
  • Candidates must have secured an aggregate of 45 % in the Qualifying B.Sc degree examination.
  • Candidates belonging to the reserved category must have secured an aggregate of 40% in the Qualifying B.Sc degree examination.
  • Students should have to clear the Engineering Graphics/Engineering Drawing and Engineering Mechanics as first year subjects.
  • Candidates from the B.Sc stream shall be taken in to consideration only after the Diploma candidates fill the supernumerary seats in this category.

Candidates appearing for the qualifying exam at the end of that academic year can also apply for the Jharkhand LE B.Tech 2017, but should have passed the qualifying examination with the requisite aggregate marks at the time of Interview. 

Candidates who have qualified diploma in any branch that has no corresponding Engineering Branch stream will not be considered for seats allocation.


Jharkhand LE B.Tech 2017 Application Form

Jharkhand LE B.Tech 2017 Entrance online application procedure consists of the following 3 steps:

Step 1: Application form filling

  • Visit www.jcecb.nic.in and find the link ‘Online Application for Engineering Course (Lateral Entry) Entrance Competitive Exam 2017’ and click on it.
  • Name and Father’s name as present in the candidate’s standard X certificates without any prefix before the name
  • Educational qualifications and institute board details.
  • Next, applicants are required to provide valid communication details and then create a password that should be used at the time of login
  • Any changes in the details provided can be done by clicking on the ‘Edit’ button.
  • Candidates must read the Disclaimer and select the ’I Agree’ checkbox and the click on ‘Submit’ button.

Step 2: Uploading of documents

Candidates are required to upload scanned copies of the following.

  • A recent Passport size photograph of the candidate with the file size not less than 4kb and not more than 100kb (4kb-100kb).
  • Candidate’s signature with the file size not less than 1kb and not more than 30kb (1kb-30kb).
  • Left hand thumb impression of the candidate with the file size not less than 1kb and not more than 30kb (1kb-30kb).

Step 3: Payment of the Application fee

After uploading the required documents, candidates can proceed to pay the necessary application fee of INR 900 for candidates belonging to the General/BC-I/BC-II category. INR 450 is to be paid by all female candidates and candidates belonging to the SC/ST category. Payment should be done in one of the online modes viz., credit/debit card or net banking.

Students can then click on ‘Online Application for Engineering Course (Lateral Entry) Entrance Competitive Exam-2017’ link, look for ‘Only Registered Candidates Sign In’ link. Log in using application number and password and then take a print of the ‘Confirmation Page’.


Jharkhand LE B.Tech 2017 Admit Card

Jharkhand LE B.Tech 2017 Admit Card is scheduled to be released online on April 18, 2017.

Candidates who have successfully submitted Jharkhand LE B.Tech Application Form in all aspects can download the Admit Card. They must visit the official website and click on the link directing them to download the Admit Card. Download the admit card as it has to be carried on the examination day.

Candidates without Jharkhand LE B.Tech Admit Card will not be allowed inside the examination hall under any circumstances.


Jharkhand LE B.Tech 2017 Exam Pattern

Jharkhand LE B.Tech 2017 Entrance Exam is an objective type examination where candidates have to choose their appropriate response from the choices given. Duration of the exam is 2 hours.

Questions are based on 3 subjects viz., Engineering Physics, Engineering Chemistry and Engineering Mathematics. If candidates mark more than one option for a question from the choices given, they will be penalized with 0.25 marks.

Jharkhand LE B.Tech 2017 Results

Jharkhand LE B.Tech 2017 Results will be declared online. A merit list will be prepared based on the marks scored by the candidates in the entrance examination and candidates will be called for the first round of Personal Interview on the basis of their rank.

  • In case of a tie in the overall marks scored by two or more candidates, marks scored in Engineering Mathematics section will be taken into consideration and the candidate with more marks in this section will be ranked higher in the merit list.
  • In case of a tie in the overall marks scored as well as in Engineering Mathematics, marks scored in the Engineering Physics section will be taken into consideration. Candidate with more marks in the Engineering Physics section will be ranked higher in the merit list.
  • In case there is still a tie after considering the overall score, birth dates of the candidates are taken into consideration and the older candidate is ranked higher.
  • If a tie still persists, the candidates are ranked alphabetically according to their names in English.

Jharkhand LE B.Tech 2017 Personal Interview

Candidates will be called for personal interview based on the rank in the merit list.

Candidates must pay a fee of INR 650 (General/BC-I/BC-II category) and INR 400 (all female candidates/SC/ST category) by means of challan payment/depositing through Indian postal order.

In case there are seats still available after the completion of the first round of Personal Interview, second round of interview will be conducted.
