NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
Indian students studying abroad in Class X are eligible to appear directly at Stage II of NTSE 2017. The last date to apply for NTSE is December 31, 2016. The NTSE Stage II is scheduled to be held on May 14, 2017 in All States/UTs.
NTSE (National Talent Search Examination) is conducted by NCERT to award the scholarship to the students studying abroad in Class X. NTSE 2017 has 2 qualifying stages- Stage I (State Level) and Stage II (National Level).
The candidates have to give Mental Ability Test (MAT), Scholastic Ability Test (SAT), followed by Face-to-Face Interview to get the scholarship.
As per the NTS Scheme 1000 scholarships will be granted for different courses. The scholarship offered by NCERT is given below: -
NCERT will be providing relaxation to the students of reserved categories, 3% relaxation will be given to Physically Disabled candidates, 7.5% will be given to the students of ST category, and 15% will be given to the students of SC category.
All the students in India who are studying in Class X are eligible to compete in the NTSE 2017. Candidates of Indian Nationality who are studying abroad are eligible to appear at Stage II (National Level) of the NTSE.
All the students are advised to go through the brochure available online on the website of NCERT before filling the form. The application form will be available online on the official website of NCERT. Students who studying abroad have to fill the form online and post it along with the photocopy of the mark sheet of their previous examination before December 31, 2016.
No examination fee will be charged at Stage II according to the NCERT norm.
Stage II of NTSE 2017 is divided into three papers i.e. Paper I (MAT), Paper II (LT), and Paper III (SAT), candidates are required to clear all the three parts to qualify NTSE and win the scholarship.

Candidates are advised to attempt Stage II questions very carefully as there will negative marking for each wrong answer. 1/3rd marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
The Language Test is of qualifying nature and its marks will not be counted while preparing the merit list.
Candidates of reserved category (SC/ST/PH) have to secure 32% marks in each paper to qualify the test, while candidates of the general category are required to secure 40% marks in each paper to qualify.
MAT (Mental Ability Test): The paper I of Stage II test is designed to check the intellect and logical ability of the student and has questions on topics such as reasoning, classification, problem-solving, coding words, analogies, series, etc.
SAT (Scholastic Ability Test): This paper has questions from the subjects like Science, geography, history, science, mathematics, etc. This paper is designed to test the candidate’s knowledge of different subjects.
