UPSC Recruitment: Apply for Assistant Executive Engineer

UPSC invites applications for vacancies of Assistant Executive Engineer (Electronics), Directorate General of Lighthouses & Lightships, Ministry of Shipping.

Candidates can apply for the post through the online website only. They have to read all the instructions carefully before start filling online application. Selection of the candidate will be done on the basis of marks secured by them in the entrance test followed by an interview. Candidates who secure more than or equal to cutoff marks are shortlisted for interview. Candidates have to check their eligibility before registering for the entrance examination.


Vacancy Details

UPSC provides reservation and relaxation to physically challenged persons with disabilities like orthopedically/ handicapped/ locomotor disability/ cerebral palsy with one leg affected (right or left) or partially deaf. These are the permanent posts.

The total number of vacancies that are reserved for Assistant Executive Engineer (Electronics) is 4. Candidates pay scale for this post lies between INR 15600-39,100/- plus Grade pay amount of INR 5400/-.

Candidates who are selected for this post have to perform some duties. They must help in installation, improvement and maintenance of equipment.


Eligibility

The eligibility criteria of UPSC Recruitment is explained as below:

Qualification: Candidates must possess a degree in Telecommunications/ Electronics Engineering and Communications Engineering from this university or any other recognised university.

Experience: Candidates must have two years experience in supervisory capacity in the field of radio aids.

Desirable Qualification: Candidates should have two years experience in generation, supply and transmission of power with experience in lighting small motors and wiring.

Age: Candidate’s maximum age limit will be 35 years.


Relaxation/ Reservation

UPSC provides relaxation of 5 to 10 years to candidates on the basis of their category. Reservation and relaxation is offered only when the physical disability of the candidate is more than 40%. The following table shows the various age relaxations in years:

Age relaxation of J&K from January 1, 1980 to December 21, 1989:

  • All category candidates of Jammu and Kashmir must have 5 years upper age limit relaxation.

Age relaxation to Physically Handicapped candidates

10 years age relaxation provides to physically handicapped candidates by UPSC. The Following table shows the category wise age relaxation:

How to Apply

Candidates must have to follow the below steps to apply for UPSC Recruitment 2017:

  • Candidates have to apply through online mode only by visiting the official website “www.upsconline.nic.in”
  • Candidates who want to apply for more than one post need to apply separately for each post and also pay the fees for each post.
  • Candidates should pay the fees of amount INR 25/- either by sending cash money in any branch of SBI or by using net banking facility by using visa or master credit or debit card.
  • If the students do not submit the prescribed fees then their application form will be rejected. Whereas fees submitted by candidates is non-refundable.
  • Candidates have to take the printout of finally submitted Online Recruitment Application form. Forms are not required to submit either by post or by hands.
  • Candidates must have to upload the following documents at the time of application submission:

Enclosures

  1. Date of birth and Experience certificate
  2. Matriculation or 10th standard certificate indicating the date of birth issued by the central or state board.
  3. Degree or diploma certificate as educational qualification proof.
  4. Provisional certificate along with the mark sheets.
  5. Experience certificate from the head of organisation or department.
  6. Caste certificate for SC/ ST/ OBC reserved category candidates from the competent authority.
  7. Physically Handicapped certificate issued by competent authority on the basis of medical fitness.

Exam Pattern

The written examination consists of objective type questions with multiple choice answers. All the questions carry equal marks. Time duration to complete the examination is 2 hours carries a maximum of 100 marks.

Candidates should read all the instructions to solve the questions carefully because for every wrong answer 1/3 marks will be deducted. The test will be conducted both in English and Hindi medium according to candidate’s choice.


Syllabus

Candidates who prepare well for the examination are eligible to crack the examination easily. Candidates should check the syllabus before start preparing for the test. Following is the list of the syllabus that candidates need to prepare:

  • Switch Gear and Protection

Selection Process

Candidates have to clear the Computer Based Recruitment test in order to select for the interview. In order to get shortlisted for the interview candidates have to secure more than or equal to cutoff marks. Candidates should bring the following documents at the time of interview:

  1. Matriculation or 10th standard certificate indicating the date of birth issued by the central or state board.
  2. Degree or diploma certificate as educational qualification proof.
  3. Provisional certificate along with the mark sheets.
  4. Experience certificate from the head of organisation or department.
  5. Caste certificate for SC/ ST/ OBC reserved category candidates from the competent authority.
  6. Physically Handicapped certificate issued by competent authority on the basis of medical fitness.

If candidates changes their name after marriage or divorce or remarriage then they have to submit the following documents along with all the above-mentioned documents:

  1. In the case of marriage women: Photocopy of Husband’s passport showing the name of spouses issued by the registrar of marriage or affidavit from husband and wife along with joint photograph before the Oath commissioner.
  2. In the case of re-marriage women: Divorce/ Death certificate of present husband certificate or attested copy of marriage certificate issued by the registrar of marriage along with joint photograph before the Oath commissioner.
  3. In the case of divorce women: Copy of divorce certificate and affidavit before the Oath Commissioner.
