UPSC Recruitment 2017: Apply for Technical Officers, Superintending Anthropologist and Scientist- B Cadre Posts

UPSC (Union Public Service Commission), has invited applications from candidates to fill the vacant seats of several posts including Technical Officers, Superintending Anthropologist and Scientist- B cadre. The Online Recruitment Application can be filled till February 2, 2017.

Candidates who wish to apply will have to visit the ORA (Online Recruitment Application) for online application i.e. www.upsconline.nic.in.

UPSC Recruitment 2017 Job Details

UPSC has released notification for the recruitment at various vacant posts of cadre B. The posts offered by UPSC are as follows:

Technical Officer

There is one vacant post for Technical Officer, Central Frozen Semen Production & Training Institute, Hassarghatta, Bangalore, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare. The post is reserved for PH Category. The post is temporary but there is a possibility of continuation.

The job details for a Technical Officer are as follows:

  1. Assist the director, CFSPTI in management of FSB, conducting training programme and quality control work of semen.
  2. To look after semen collection, processing and preservation.
  3. Pay scale for a technical officer is INR 15,600- INR 39,100 (PB–3) + GP INR 5400/- + T.A. & HRA as admissible.

Superintending Anthropologist (Cultural Anthropology Division)

Two vacant seats are available for the post of Superintending Anthropologist (Cultural Anthropology Department) in Anthropological Survey of India, Department of Culture, Ministry of Culture. The probation period is of 2 years.

The job details are as follows:

  1. Conduct research in Cultural/Social Anthropology, prepare reports, and formulate research papers.
  2. Supervise research work for senior officers.
  3. Lead field parties to field research and guide officers in preparation of reports, etc.
  4. Pay scale: INR 10000-325- INR 15,200(pre- revised) corresponding pay band PB-3 (15600-39100) along with Grade Pay of INR 6600/- (Revised).

Superintending Anthropologist (Physical Anthropology Division)

 One Superintending Anthropologist job post is available in Physical Anthropology Division, Anthropological Survey of India, Department of Culture, Ministry of Culture. The probation period is of 2 years.

The job details are as follows:

  1. To conduct research in Physical/Social Anthropology, prepare reports, and formulate research papers.
  2. Supervise research work for other department officers.
  3. Lead field parties to field research and guide officers in preparation of reports, etc.
  4. Pay scale: INR 10000-325- INR 15,200 (pre- revised) corresponding pay band PB-3 (15600-39100) along with Grade Pay of INR 6600 (Revised).

Scientist B (Ballistics), Scientist ‘B’ (Neutron Activation Analysis), Scientist ‘B’ (Toxicology) 

The post of One Scientist - B (Ballistics) at Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Directorate of Forensic Science Services, Ministry of Home Affairs is vacant. Candidates of PH category can apply only. The probation period is of one year.

Job details of this post mentioned below:

  1. Crime scene management, crime case examination, etc.
  2. Impart training in respective field of forensic specialization to trainees from different investigating organizations.
  3. Candidate will be asked to serve anywhere in the country.
  4. Pay scale:  initial appointment will fetch INR 56,100 p.m. approximately.

Deputy Director (Industrial Hygiene)

One vacancy for candidate belonging to SC Category is available for the post of Deputy Director (Industrial Hygiene) at Directorate General of Factory Advice Service & Labour Institutes, Mumbai, Ministry of Labour and Employment. Probation period is of 1 year and job nature is permanent.

Job details for this post have been mentioned below:

  1. Candidate will have to design training programmes, brochures in various areas of industrial hygiene.
  2. Candidate shall carry out research, surveys and prepare reports in the field of industrial hygiene.
  3. He/she shall generate data of harmful exposures at work, etc.
  4. Pay scale: INR 15600- INR 39100 (PB-3) +INR 6600/- (Grade Pay)]. As per 7th CPC: Level 11 (INR 66700- INR 208700/-) in the Pay Matrix + T.A. & HRA as admissible.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria for each post differs from the other. One common eligibility requirement is Nationality. A candidate must either be a national of India, a subject of Nepal, Bhutan, a Tibetan Refugee or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African countries.

The detailed eligibility conditions for all the posts under B cadre have been given below:

Age: Candidate must not be exceeding the age of 35 years at the time of application.

Experience: 3 years’ experience of working in field of artificial insemination and production of frozen semen.

Superintending Anthropologist (Cultural Anthropology Division)

Educational: Master’s degree in anthropology from a recognized university.

Age: Not exceeding 40 years of age on normal closing date

Experience: 7 years’ research experience in modern methods and techniques of field investigation

Superintending Anthropologist (Physical Anthropology Division)

Educational: Master’s degree in anthropology from a recognized university.

Age: Not exceeding 40 years of age on normal closing date

Experience: 7 years’ research experience in modern methods and techniques of field investigation

Scientist B (Ballistics)

Educational: Candidate must possess master’s degree in Physics/ Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/ Forensic Science with Physics or Mathematics as main subject at B. Sc. Level.

Age: Candidate below 35 years of age will be considered

Experience: 3 years’ experience of analytical methods and research in the field of Neutron Activation Analysis

Scientist ‘B’ (Neutron Activation Analysis)

Educational: Master’s Degree in Chemistry/AIC by examination/ Physics / Forensic Science with Chemistry or Physics as one of the subjects at B. Sc. Level from a recognized University.

Age: Candidate must not exceed 35 years of age.
Experience: 3 years’ experience of analytical methods and research in the field of Ballistics

Scientist B (Toxicology)

Educational: Master’s degree in chemistry/AIC by examination/ Biochemistry/ Pharmacology/ Pharmacy/ Forensic Science with chemistry as main subject at B. Sc. Level.

Age: Candidate must be below 35 years of age

Experience: 3 years’ experience of analytical methods and research in the field of toxicology

Deputy Director

Educational: Candidate must have a master’s degree in chemistry or bio-chemistry from a recognized university

Age: Candidate must not exceed 45 years at the time of applying

Experience: 5 years of research experience will be required in the field of Industrial Hygiene.


How to apply for UPSC Recruitment 2017

The last date to apply for UPSC Recruitment 2017 for B Cadre posts is February 2, 2017. The candidates can fill the application form online through the official website of UPSC. By following the given steps:

1. Visit the official website of UPSC- www.upsconline.nic.in.

2. Click on the link ‘New Registration’

3. Fill your personal details like Name, Father's Name, Date of Birth, Email ID, Password etc. which will be used for the online application.

4. Next, before closing each session candidate must save the information filled by clicking ‘Save’ button.

5. After successful registration, a registration ID of 8 alphanumeric characters will be allotted to you.

6. Once registered, click on the respective post link “Apply Now” for which you wish to apply.

7. Clicking on "Apply Now" link would take you to the Login page.

8. The completion of application process will be ensured by a Confirmation E-mail which the candidates will receive on the candidate’s e-mail ID provided in the application form.

9. Take a printout of the same for future reference.

Application Fee

Candidates are required to pay a fee of INR 25/- (Rupees Twenty-five) only through DD/ online banking.

**There is no application fee for SC/ST/PH/Women candidates

UPSC Recruitment 2017 Selection process

Applicants will be selected for various posts on the basis of Recruitment Test or Interview or both. Candidates must be very careful while filling the Online Recruitment Application form. If the information filled is found to be false or inaccurate, the candidature of the candidate will be cancelled immediately.

Candidate will be required to fulfill all the eligibility conditions that have been stated for each post. It is important to note that mere serving all the eligibility conditions will not finalize the appointment of the applicant.
