UPSC Recruitment 2017: 138 Vacancies for Geo Scientist & Geologist

The UPSC is recruiting for Geo Scientist & Geologist post in various ministries\ departments of the Indian government. UPSC Recruitment 2017 Geo-scientist and Geologist exam will also be held for appointing the candidates in the ministry of mines and the ministry of water resources. This exam will be held under two groups. Group-I for the post of Geological Survey of India in Ministry of Mines and  Group-II for the central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water resources. Group-I contains three sub-categories are Geologist, Geophysicist and Chemist. Group-II contains only one category which is the Junior Hydro geologist (Scientist B).

There are 138 vacancies, 105 for Group-I and 33 for Group-II. Each category will contain four exams of three hours. The application process will begin on February 8, 2017. The last date of registration is March 3, 2017. The examination will be held on May 12, 2017. The applicants can apply on the official site of UPSC (www.upsconline.nic.in) before March 3, 2017. The candidates will be selected on the basis of written test. The candidates will be called for the interview if they obtain minimum 200 marks in the examination. The exam will be continued for 3 days.

COMBINED GEO-SCIENTIST AND GEOLOGIST Exam Eligibility 2017

The UPSC combined geo-Scientist and Geologist Exam is divided into two groups. Group-I contains three categories are Geologists, Geophysicist and Chemist. Group-II contains only one category of Junior Hydrogeologists. Each category contains four exams and the general English is common for all categories.

Academic Qualification

Group-I

The candidates must have M.Sc. degree in Physics or Applied Physics / M.Sc. (Geophysics)/ Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics)/ M.Sc. (Applied Geophysics) / M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics)/ M. Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry .

Group- II

The candidates must have Master’s degree in Geology / Applied Geology/ Marine Geology Hydrogeology from a recognized University.

Age limit

The candidate’s age must between 21-32 years for Group-I and 21-35 years for Group-II. The age relaxation for reserve categories are 7 years for ex- serviceman, 5years for SC and residence of Jammu and Kashmir and 3 years for OBC.

Nationality

The candidate belonging from India/Nepal/Bhutan /Tibetan may apply, the person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka are also applicable for UPSC combined Geo-Scientist and Geological examination.


COMBINED GEO-SCIENTIST AND GEOLOGIST Exam 2017 Registration

The application form is available on the UPSC official website. To fill the form an applicant  must have own colored photograph in jpeg format of size 3KB to 40kb and he she must have a signature photo also in jpeg format of 1 KB.

Steps to Apply for COMBINED GEO-SCIENTIST AND GEOLOGIST Exam 2017

The applicants can fill the form from the official site of UPSC. There are four links you just click the first link (online application for the various examination) .then a table will appear  in your system. This registration contains two parts i.e. PART-I Registration and PART-II Registration.

Step 1 Registration Part I

Click the part -1 registration of COMBINED GEO-SCIENTIST AND GEOLOGIST EXAMINATION.an important instruction window will appear. Read all instructions carefully and then click YES. Fill your Personal details such as Name, Gender, DOB, Father’s Name, educational qualification and residence address etc.

Step 2 Payment of Application

  • Choose the mode of payment (online/ offline).
  • If you choose offline mode then download the pay in slip and deposit cash in the nearest branch of SBI/SBBJ.
  • If you choose online payment mode it includes the payments by Debit/Credit/Net banking.

Online Payment Mode

  • if you choose Debit Card then enter the card number, validity and CVV number.
  • if you choose Credit Card then enter the card number, validity and 6 digits pin number.
  • if you choose Net Banking then enter your bank account details.

Now you can fill PART-II application form.

NOTE: these steps are those students who are not exempt the application fee.

Step 3 Registration Part II

  • Now you fill the other details of the Application form for combined geo-scientist and geologist
  • Enter the desirable center location.
  • Enter the qualification and other communication
  • click on submit to proceed to the next step

Step 4 Uploading the Image

  • Click on the link to upload the photograph
  • Browse the location of the image and select the image
  • Click on open/upload
  • Check  the image is opened correctly and clearly
  • Repeat the same steps to upload the image of the signature
  • Click on “I Agree” to approve of the declaration and submit the complete combined geo-scientist and geologist Online Form.

Combined geo-scientist and geologist Exam Application Fee

The fee payment is an important step for online application of UPSC combined geo-scientist and geologist. The candidates those are belonging to unreserved categories have to pay RS 200. The female and reserved category candidates are exempted from this fee.


Combined geo-scientist and geologist Exam Center 2017

The candidates choose the examination center of combined geo-scientist and geologist at the time of PART-II registration process the UPSC combined geo-scientist are allotted on the basis of first come first allot (FCFA).

Combined geo-scientist and geologist Exam Admit Card 2017

The admit card will be published last week of April, 2017. The candidates who successfully registered themselves can download their admit card from the official site of UPSC. The admit card available only UPSC site (online). 

Step to download combined geo-scientist and geologist examination admit card 2017

The candidates download their admit card to apply following steps which are given below:

  • Go the official site of UPSC.
  • Read the instructions mentioned carefully, print them and click on Yes
  • Choose the method of downloading i.e. Registration ID or Roll Number or Name.
  • Enter the Registration ID or Roll Number which you mention previously.
  • Entering the captcha and then submit.
  • Now Print the displayed Admit Card.
