UPSC Ministry and Broadcasting Recruitment 2017

UPSC has released an official notification for recruitment to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Closing date for submission of the application form is June 29, 2017. It is a Group ‘B’ Gazetted post and consists of 72 vacancies.

  • Candidates will be shortlisted, depending upon the information provided in their application form and the process will be followed by interview.
  • If in case, number of applicants for the post will be more, recruitment test will take place.
  • All the relevant documents will be verified during interview and in case of any discrepancy, candidate will be disqualified.
  • Candidates must take the print out after the submission of online application form and must bring it during the interview.
  • Interview will be of 100 marks and cut off for the General and Reserved Categories will vary.

Candidates must be in fit and in good health. They must, if selected, be prepared to undergo medical examination and satisfy medical authority as per the government requirements.

There are total of 72 vacancies for the post of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting  and recruitment of the candidates will be Language based and the language wise break-up of vacancies areas under:-.

Category Wise Vacancies:

Certain seats will be reserved for the Backward classes and such candidates must come under the backward category list of Central Government and Physically Handicapped people should submit their medical documents and people suffering less than 40% will be not be a part of this category.

Eligibility Criteria

The prescribed essential qualifications are the minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview.

  • Upper Age limit:
     30 years and certain concessions will be there for Reserved Category candidates
    OBC : 3 years
    SC/ST: 5 years
    The upper age limit in case of Ex-Servicemen and Commissioned Officers: 5 years
    Persons who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of J&K during the period from January 1, 1980 to December 31, 1989: 5 years
  • Educational Qualifications: The Candidates must have studied concerned Indian language (the one he/she has filled in the form) up to 10th Class and any one of the following:
    Degree of a recognized University or Institute Or Diploma/Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism/ Mass Communication from a recognized University/Institution
     OR
     Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from a recognized University/Institute
  • Experience: Minimum two years of experience of journalistic, publicity or public relation work is required to be eligible for the post. The period of experience rendered by a candidate on part time basis, daily wages and  visiting/ guest faculty will not be counted while calculating the valid experience for short listing the candidates for the interview.
  • Citizenship:  A Candidate must be either:
    a citizen of India
    or a citizen of Nepal
    or a citizen of Bhutan
    or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962 with an intention of permanently settling in India,
    or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

About the UPSC Ministry of Information and Broadcasting

How to apply for UPSC Recruitment 2017

Interested candidates can apply by visiting the official website of UPSC till June 29,   2017. Candidates will have to pay an application fee of Rs 25/-. The registration fees can be paid via visa/master debit/credit or remitting money in any branch of the SBI by cash.  SC/ST/PWD and women are exempted from paying the fees.

Candidates can follow the steps given below to apply for UPSC Recruitment:

  • Visit the official website - upsconline.nic.in. Applications received through any other mode will be rejected.
  • Click on the link “Online Recruitment Application for Various Recruitment Posts”
  • In case of new candidate: Click on new registration tab and enter all the details. Save and click on continue button.
  • A new registration ID & password will generate
  • Click on the link “Apply Online” given alongside different posts and login by entering the registration ID & password
  • Upload all the required documents i.e. Educational Qualification, Experience, category certificates and other important document. All the information must be correct.
  • Verify all the information and submit your application form.
  • Take print out of your application form, it will be required during the interview.

Important Instructions

  • Candidates are requested to fill their active email IDs because all the information will be provided through mails only.
  •  After submitting the Online Recruitment Application (ORA), the candidates are required to take out a print out of the form and last date to take print out is June 30, 2017.
  •  If any information provided by any candidate in application form is found to be incorrect their candidature will be rejected.
  •  Candidates must bring all the documents at the time of interview for the document verification process.
  •  Date of birth mentioned in Online Recruitment Application will be final. No subsequent request for change of date of birth will be granted.
  •  If any document/ certificate furnished is in a language other than Hindi or English, a transcript of the same, duly attested by a Gazetted officer is to be submitted.

 Candidates must be in sound bodily health. They must, if selected, be prepared to undergo medical examination and satisfy medical authority as Government may require.
 


Documents Required at the Time of Interview

  • Candidates must bring the print out of the online submitted application form along with the following Original Documents/ Certificates  with self-attested copies. Failing to bring all the documents can lead to disqualification.
  • Matriculation/10th Standard or equivalent certificate or
    mark sheet of Matriculation/10th Standard or equivalent issued by Central/State Board.
  • Degree/Diploma certificate along with mark sheets pertaining to all the academic years as proof of educational qualification claimed.
  • Certificates from the Head of Organizations/ Departments for the entire experience claimed (should mention the duration of employment (date, month & year), basic pay, consolidated pay, and nature of duties performed/experience.
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Physically Handicapped certificate (if applicable)

UPSC Recruitment 2017: Selection Process

In case of the number of applications being large, candidates will have to appear for a recruitment test followed by interview. The minimum marks scored in recruitment test/ Interview to be eligible for the post for all categories, irrespective of whether the selection is made only by interview or by Recruitment Test followed by interview, the cut off for both is given below:

  • UR (Un-reserved) – 50 marks
  • OBC – 45 marks
  • SC/ST/PH- 40 marks

 In cases where selection is made by Recruitment Test (RT) followed by interview, the candidate will have to achieve minimum level of suitability in their respective category at both stages. The minimum level of suitability in case of Recruitment Test shall be decided by the Commission.


In Case of Misconduct

  • If At any stage or at any time of interview, any information found to be false, their form will be rejected and will lead to candidate’s disqualification.
  • They may also be debarred either permanently or for a specific period which will be decided by the Central government or commission from any examination or selection held by them
