NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST

UPSC: Applications invited for Radio Inspector post in Ministry of Shipping, Mumbai

UPSC is responsible for conducting recruitment to various ministerial department services. It is commonly known as “Union Public Service Commission”. UPSC publish notification regarding recruitment on their official website.

Candidates who are interested can apply for the post by registering through the online mode only. Candidates should read all the instructions carefully before start filling online application. The Result of the examination will be declared on the official website of UPSC.

Candidate’s selection is based on the marks secured by them in the entrance test followed by an interview. Candidates should secure more than or equal to cutoff marks so that they get shortlisted for the selection process. Candidates have to check their eligibility before registering for the entrance examination.


UPSC Recruitment: Vacancy Details

The posts are reserved for the Scheduled caste (SC) candidates and these are the permanent posts. Candidates pay scale for this post lies between INR 15600-39,100/- plus Grade pay amount of INR 5400/-.

Selected candidates have to perform some duties which are as following:

  • Candidates must know how to do an inspection of radio installation and other requirements under IMS radio rules. They must also know how to do the inspection and survey of entire wireless equipment on board the merchant ships irrespective of nationality.
  • Candidates must know how to manage and maintained equipment and also make a necessary recommendation in respect of maintenance and deficiencies.
  • Candidates should also maintain the standard of maintenance which gives service for at least period of next six months.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria of UPSC recruitment is explained as below:

Qualification: Candidates must a possess certificate of proficiency as General Class or First Class Radio Operator.

Experience

  • Candidates must have three years or five years experience in operation maintenance and adjustment of ship-borne or shore-based wireless station
  • Candidates must possess a certificate of proficiency as Second Class Radio Operator.

Desirable Qualification

  • Candidates must possess a degree in Telecommunication Engineering.
  • Candidates should have experience in operation, maintenance adjustment of electronic aids to navigation.

Age

Candidate’s maximum age limit will be 50 years.


Relaxation and Reservation

Reservation and Relaxation are admissible under the rules only when the physical disability of the candidate is more than 40%. The following table shows the age relaxation criteria:

Age relaxation of J&K from January 1, 1980 to December 21, 1989:

Age relaxation to Physically Handicapped candidates

UPSC provides 10 years age relaxation to physically handicapped candidates. The Following table shows the category wise age relaxation:

How to Apply

Candidates must have to follow the below steps to apply for UPSC Recruitment:

  • Students need to apply through online mode only by visiting the official website “www.upsconline.nic.in”
  • Students who want to apply for more than one post need to apply separately for each post and also pay the fees for each post.
  • Students should pay the fees of amount INR 25/- either by sending cash money in any branch of SBI or by using net banking facility by using visa or master credit or debit card.
  • If candidate do not submit the fees then their application form will be rejected. Whereas fees submitted by candidates is non-refundable.
  • Candidates are advised to take the printout of finally submitted Application form. Forms are not required to submit either by post or by hands.
  • Candidates must have to upload the following documents at the time of application submission:

Enclosures

  1. Date of birth and Experience certificate
  2. Matriculation or 10th standard certificate indicating the date of birth issued by the central or state board.
  3. Degree or diploma certificate as educational qualification proof.
  4. Provisional certificate along with the mark sheets.
  5. Experience certificate from the head of organisation or department.
  6. Caste certificate for SC/ ST/ OBC reserved category candidates from the competent authority.
  7. Physically Handicapped certificate issued by competent authority on the basis of medical fitness.

Exam Pattern

The total duration to complete the examination is 2 hours which carries a questions maximum of 100 marks. The paper is comprised of objective type questions with multiple choice answers (MCQ’s). All the questions in the examination will carry equal marks.

The test will be conducted both in Hindi as well as English medium. Students should carefully attempt the answers because the every wrong answer will carry deduction of one-third marks. No marks will be deducted if no answer is marked for a question.


Syllabus

Those who prepare well for the examination are eligible to crack the examination easily. Students should check the syllabus before start preparing for the test. Following is the list of the syllabus that candidates need to prepare:

  • Indian polity and Governance
  • Economic and social Development
  • General Science and Comprehension
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Communication skills
  • Logical reasoning and Analytical ability

  • General mental ability
  • English language comprehension skills

Selection Process

Students will be called for interview after clearing the Computer Based Recruitment Test. Candidates have to secure more than cutoff marks in order to get shortlisted in the merit list. They must bring the following document at the time of interview:

  1. Matriculation or 10th standard certificate indicating the date of birth issued by the central or state board.
  2. Degree or diploma certificate as educational qualification proof.
  3. Provisional certificate along with the mark sheets.
  4. Experience certificate from the head of organisation or department.
  5. Caste certificate (if applicable).
  6. Physically Handicapped certificate issued by competent authority on the basis of medical fitness.

If candidates change their name after marriage or divorce or remarriage candidates must submit the following documents:

  1. In the case of marriage women: Photocopy of Husband’s passport issued by the registrar of marriage or affidavit with joint photograph before the Oath commissioner.
  2. In the case of re-marriage women: Divorce/ Death certificate of present husband or copy of marriage certificate issued by the registrar of marriage along with joint photograph before the Oath commissioner.
  3. In the case of divorce women: Copy of divorce certificate and affidavit before the Oath Commissioner.
