Karnataka PGCET 2018 Exam Pattern

Karnataka PGCET 2018 will be conducted in offline mode and the total duration of the test is 2 hours and 30 minutes. KEA is responsible for setting the exam pattern for Karnataka PGCET. The syllabus for the entrance test is based on undergraduate curriculum of each subject.

  • The question paper is divided into 2 parts. The number of questions varies from the course that a candidate chooses.
  • Each question is divided category wise and 1 mark or 2 marks are awarded for correct answer depending upon the type of question.
  • There is no negative marking done for any incorrect or un-attempted answer.
  • Maximum marks that a candidate can score are 100 for the test of all the courses.  

Karnataka PGCET (Post Graduate Common Entrance Test) is conducted by KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority) for admission to several postgraduate courses in various colleges and universities of Karnataka. Candidates appearing for the test need to carefully go through Karnataka PGCET Exam Pattern to identify important topics and pattern of questions.

Karnataka PGCET 2018 Exam Pattern in Detail

Karnataka PGCET 2018 question paper will be broadly divided into 2 parts. The pattern would vary for all the individual subjects. Each paper is designed to test the knowledge of candidates in their subject specialization.

The exam pattern for various subjects is mentioned below in detail.

PGCET Exam Pattern for M.E/M.TECH/M.ARCH Courses

  • Question paper consists of 2 parts- Part A and Part-B
  • Part A contains 50 questions and part-B contains 25 questions
  • Each Question in Part-A is given 1 mark and for part-B each question is of 2 marks.
  • Maximum marks that a candidate can score is 100
  • There is no negative marking for a wrong answer. 

PGCET Exam Pattern for MBA

  • Question paper is Divided into 2 parts- Part-A and Part-B
  • Each part is further divided into different sections.
  1. Part A- Section- A- Proficiency in English Language

    Section-B- General Knowledge

  2. Part-B- Section-A- Reasoning and General Intelligence

      Section-B- Quantitative Analysis

  • All the sections carry 25 questions. Each correct answer is awarded 1 mark
  • Maximum marks that a candidate can score are 100. No negative marking what so ever.

PGCET Exam Pattern for MCA

  • Question paper designed for MCA course is of 100 marks
  • There are 2 sections in the question paper Part-A and Part-B
  • Part A consists of 60 questions and each question carries 1 mark. Part B contains 20 questions and each question carries 2 marks.
  • Time duration allotted for the Entrance Exam is 150 Minutes.
  • There is no negative marking for a wrong answer or any answer left un-attempted.

Karnataka PGCET 2018 Marking Scheme

The question paper for Karnataka PGCET consists of total 100 questions. The weigtage for every part and section of the question paper differs from course to course. There is no negative marking for unattempted questions. The general marking scheme applicable for different courses is tabulated below.

Instructions to Fill Karnataka PGCET 2018 OMR Sheet

Candidates should adhere to some important instructions while filling Karnataka PGCET 2018 OMR Sheet to avoid any discrepancy

  • Candidates should use blue or black ball point pen only to avoid spillage while marking their answers on the OMR sheet.
  • Fill the circles completely to mark your responses as instructed on the OMR Sheet. 
  • Rough work or any stray marks on OMR Sheet are strictly prohibited. The response is liable to be rejected in case of any smudges or stray marks.
  • Use the separate space at the back of question paper for rough calculations, etc.
  • After completing their entrance test, candidates have to affix their left-hand thumb mark in the space provided. This has to be done before submitting the answer sheet
  • Once the exam is complete, candidate can carry the replica of the answer sheet with them. Later when the answer key is announced, candidates can cross check the accuracy of their answers.
