SSC CGL 2017 Zone Wise Posts for Income Tax Inspector

Income Tax Officer is one of the most popular post in SSC CGL Exam. The reason is that the job profile for ITI carries timely promotion, high social status, job satisfaction, etc. All these perks and packages make this profile a hot favourite among candidates.

SSC CGL 2017 Income Tax officer category is divided under into two categories.

  • Category 1 is for recruitment through ITI level examination.
  • Category 2 is recruitment at the post of TA for candidates who have cleared graduation.
  • Approximately 1200 vacancies will be filled through SSC CGL zone wise ITI level examination.
  • 1500 vacancies will be filled through SSC CGL zone wise TA level examination.
  • SSC CGL tier 1 examination is expected to commence from the month of August 2017.

SSC CGL Tier 1 is scheduled between August 1, 2017 and August 20, 2017. It is a computer based test. The result is expected to be announced in the first week of September. The Tier 2 of SSC CGL is scheduled for November 10, 2017 and November 11, 2017. The result may be announced by the end week.

SSC CGL Tier 3 which is a descriptive exam will be held on January 21, 2018 and the result will be announced in the last week of January. SSC CGL Tier 4 which is a Skill Test will held in February 2018.

Students who have completed education through an ITI appear for the SSC CGL ITI level examination. They have different positions where they are recruited. The list of vacant seats for each of the IT department located in different regions is as follows:

Income Tax Inspector through SSC CGL

IT inspector knows plenty of behind scene information about our economy. People working as IT inspectors know about appeals, administration, investigation and prosecution details. The job also involves regular examination of accounts of big firms, where there is a large amount of transaction involved. IT officer have job responsibility of also doing the background investigation of   tax details filled by firms or citizens.

They have two sections:

  • Assessment section: This is a desk job, where the IT inspector work on the evidence deposited with the IT department.
  • Non- Assessment section: This involves field work, inspector has to go and collect evidence. This involves risk.

Perks given to an IT inspector:

  • DA on Total Pay above (around 107%)
  • Transport Allowance (TA)
  • House Rent Allowance (if not provided with quarters)

Training

The training period after the selection is for 12 weeks. Selected candidates go to DTRTI (Direct Tax Regional Training Institute) and exposure is given about the different tax laws, administrative procedure and investigation skills.

Loop holes

It is challenging job and requires great effort. There is a shortage of manpower in this department, the department is able to scrutinize 1-2% of a company’s account in a single go, and some companies create multiple accounts to save themselves from the tax department. Sometimes these accounts are traced other times they are not traceable. Department is trying its best to stop such practices but these companies are getting good support from some CA firms.
