NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE/OFFLINE TEST
Staff Selection Commission has released the exam schedule for CHSL 2016 tier I. The exam will be conducted from January 7, 2017 to February 8, 2017 in multiple session. This year onwards, SSC CHSL tier I exam will be conducted in online mode.
SSC CHSL exam is conducted for recruitment of candidates to the posts of lower division clerk, data entry operator, postal assistant and sorting assistant in various government departments. The exam is held for candidates who have qualified 10+2 or Higher Secondary Examination from a recognized board of education.
The exam will be conducted over a span of one month. The commission has released official notification about the dates and shifts in which SSC CHSL 2016 exam will be conducted.
According to the notification available on the official website, the exam will be conducted in two schedules. The first schedule will be from January 7-9, in which the exam will be conducted in two shifts. The second schedule will be from January 10 to February 8, in which the exam will be conducted in three shifts. The detailed schedule is given below:

Along with the official notification for SSC CHSL Tier I exam schedule, the commission has also released practice test and walk through on the official website. Since CHSL exam is being conducted in the online mode for the first time, the practice test and walk through aim to help candidates get familiarized with the new pattern of the exam. The walk through is a video which will help you understand the process of online examination. The practice test is a kind of mock test which will give you a first-hand experience of the online exam. It is advised that you watch the walk through video first and understand the process and then attempt the mock test.

SSC CHSL Tier I exam will be conducted in online mode. There will be four sections in the question paper – General Intelligence, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness. The total time duration for completion of the exam is 75 minutes or 1 hour and 15 minutes. There will be a total of 100 questions in the paper. Each section will have 25 questions.
The sectional breakup of marks is 50 each and total marks is 200. This means that 2 marks will be awarded for each correct answer. Earlier the paper comprised of 200 questions. For each correct answer, 1 mark was awarded. This change in marking scheme is bound to affect the cutoff marks this year. In comparison to last year’s cutoff, there might be a difference of over 15-20 marks in 2016.
