SSC CHSL 2015 Tier II Result Declared, Skill test to be held soon

The Staff Selection Commission has released the result for SSC CHSL 2015 Tier II exam on its official website. The tier II exam was conducted in September 2016. A total of 6446 candidates have qualified for the tier III of SSC CHSL 2015. Earlier the result was scheduled to be released on January 02, 2017.

Candidates who appeared in tier II of SSC CHSL 2015 can check their qualifying status on the official website. The result is released in the form of a pdf and comprises of the roll numbers of qualified candidates. The result has been released for both candidates, i.e. those qualified for the skill test and those qualified for typing test.


How to download SSC CHSL 2015 Tier II result?

You can follow the steps given below to download the result.

  1. Visit the official website: ssc.nic.in
  2. Click on the Result tab on the top of the website.
  3. A new pop-up window will open. Click on the CHSL tab in this pop-up window.
  4. There are two pdfs, one for those qualified for skill test and other for those qualified for typing test. Click on the relevant link and download the result pdf.

SSC will soon release the schedule for skill test and typing test for the candidates qualifying tier II exam. Skill test and typing test are mandatory for all qualified candidates.


What is Skill test/Typing test?

As part of the selection process for LDC (Lower Division Clerk) and DEO (Data Entry Operator), SSC conducts tier III which constitutes of a Skill test and typing test. The skill test is conducted for candidates who applied for the post of DEO, while typing test is held for candidates who applied for the post of LDC and Postal Assistant.


SSC CHSL Skill Test Pattern

Data Entry Skill Test or DEST is only qualifying in nature. In order to qualify this test, a candidate must have data entry speed of 8000 key depressions per hour on computer. During the test, a candidate will be given a written text in English and they have to type it on a computer in a duration of 15 minutes.

The required speed to qualify the test is 2000-2200 strokes or key depressions, that is, a candidate will have to press a minimum of 2000-2200 keys in 15 minutes (correct words only). Candidates who fall under visually handicapped category will be allowed a duration of 35 minutes to complete the test. The typing speed on MS office will also be tested.

SSC CHSL Typing Test Pattern

Typing test is also qualifying in nature. It will be conducted either in English or Hindi and a candidate will have to indicate their preferred medium during application form filling.

Candidates who opt for typing test in English must have a speed of 35 words per minute. In case of candidates opting for typing test in Hindi must have a speed of 30 words per minute. They will be given 10 minutes to type a text passage on a computer. Candidates in the visually handicapped category will be given 30 minutes to complete the test.

The required typing speed to qualify the test roughly translates to 1750 key depressions in English and 900 key depressions in Hindi.


Evaluation of SSC CHSL Typing and Skill Test

During the evaluation of SSC CHSL Typing and skill test, two types of errors will be considered - Full error and Half error

Full Error

The following errors in the typing script will be considered as full error:

  • Every omission of word or figure.
  • Every substitution of wrong word or figure.
  • Every addition of a word or figure not found in the passage.

Half Error

The following errors in the typing script will be considered as half error:

  1. Spacing errors: When a candidate misses out on a space in the transcript or provides extra space between words and letters. Ex. “Oneworld” or “O  ne  world”
  2. Spelling errors: When a candidate commits a spelling error by way of repetition, addition, transposition, omission, or substitution of a letter or letters. Ex. typing “Sucess” instead of “Success”.
  3. Wrong capitalization: When a candidate uses capital letters instead of small letters and vice-versa. This does not apply to candidates appearing for typing test in Hindi.
