NEET PG aspirants in Telangana are unhappy with the reduction in cut-offs. Pointedly the college managements have been pushing for a reduction in cut off scores.
Thousands of medical aspirants in Telangana who appeared for the NEET PG (National Eligibility Entrance Test) have disappointed over the reduction of the cut-off marks. According to the students believe the college management is trying to reduce the cut off as the institutes to enable the applicants who are seeking management quota seats.
The NEET PG was held from December 5 to 13 in 2016. Although the result was already published on January 13, counseling procedure has not started yet due to the obscurity over the cut-off marks. Telangan is among other states that have been posing pressure on the central government to reduce the cut-off score for PG medical courses below 50 percentile. The reason being not many in-service doctors (those working in a primary health centers after pursuing MBBS) have qualified for the exams.
Dr. Sandeep G, an aspirant who got 4,205 rank in NEET PG this year, according to TOI that hardly 5% of those appearing for NEET PG are in service doctors. It is not fare to lower the cut-off marks taking into consideration the pretext of 5% aspirants and make the other 95% suffer. The quality of medical education will be affected by the reduction of the cut-off marks.
The Union health minister JP Nadda has got a letter from the aspirants of NEET PG. The letter was written by the junior doctors and PG aspirants from Telangana, requesting that not to reduce the qualifying score. It is also approved by the government an all time maximum number of over 4,000 PG medical seats in various medical colleges and hospitals for academic session 2017-18. Aspirants are also need to note that as it was reported on September 21, that the National Eligibility cum Entrance test (NEET) for Post-Graduate Diploma courses would be conducted by the National Board of Examination (NBE) from December 5-13 across.
The examination was held in 86 test centres at 41 cities from December 5-13,2016 And it was a computer based test and will also comprises of 300 MCQ (Multiple choice questions) from the MBBS curriculum followed at medical colleges in India which duly advised as per the Graduate Medical Education Regulation notified by Medical Council of India(MCI) with initial approval of the Health Ministry. There will be a common counseling for the admission to all (PG) Postgraduate courses (Diploma/MD/MS/DM/M.Ch) in all Medical Educational Institutions on the basis of merit list of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test.
The cut off score is the minimum marks an applicant need to secure in order to qualify the entrance test. NEET PG 2017 cut off marks depends on various factors like availability of seats, number of candidates applied and difficulty level of the examination.
According to the prospectus, applicants belonging to general category must have secure 50% marks in NEET PG 2017 to qualify it, while for the SC/ST/OBC candidates have to secure 40% and 45% marks for the PH (Physically Handicapped) candidates.

If two or more candidates gaining equal percentile in NEET PC 2017, in their merit list will be determined according to their age, older will get preference over younger.
The National Board of Examination (NBE) has declared NEET PG 2017 result on January 13, 2017. But, the result for 50% All India Quota seats has been announced on January 15, 2017. NEET PG Result 2017 has been announced in the form of score cards comprising of candidate’s name, percentiles and All India Rank (AIR) secured. The total number of students in several categories who are qualified to participate in online counseling for 50% All India quota seats is 31330 as per the guideline given by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCD), Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) MoHFW, Government of India. Applicants can check NEET PG 2017 result by entering their NEET PG confirmation ID, Testing ID and Date of Birth. Applicant have to note that NEET PG 2017 merit list has been published separately for All India quota, 50% category quota and state quota/private medical colleges/deemed universities/AFMS rank. In order become eligible for admission in MD/MS/PG Diploma seats in 2017 academic session, an applicant belonging to general category must obtain a minimum of 50 percentile. But, the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories, the minimum percentile to secure is 40.
