IOCL Recruitment 2017: Vacancies for Engineering Assistant & Technical Attendant

IOCL is inviting applications for the post of Engineering Assistant and Technical Attendant in Southern region pipelines. Candidates having a diploma in Engineering are eligible for these posts. The application form is available from January 18, 2017 to February 17, 2017. The offline application fee is Rs-100. There is no application fee for SC/ ST category. In this article, we are discussing the eligibility, selection process and application procedure of IOCL. Here, we are providing the important dates for the schedule of IOCL Recruitment in the below table.

IOCL Recruitment Eligibility

The required educational qualification to be apply for above mentioned posts are different. Candidates can check the following eligibility criteria for IOCL are given below:

Engineering Assistant – IV: Candidates should be passed in the full-time diploma in the discipline of Electrical/ Electronics & Electrical Engineering from a government recognised university.

Technical Attendant – I: Candidates should be passed in ITI after 10th standard from a govt. recognised university. They should possess Trade certificate/ National Trade certificate issued by NCVT.

Age Limit

Candidate should not be less than 18 years and not more than 26 years for general category. There is a relaxation in age of 5 years for SC/ ST category and 3 years for OBC category. The Age limit will be calculated as on January 18, 2017.

IOCL Recruitment How to Apply

Candidates willing to apply for IOCL 2017 can go through following steps to know the application procedure as mentioned below:

  1. Go to the official website of IOCL i.e. www.iocl.com
  2. Click on the recruitment notification and download the application form available in the prescribed format.
  3. Fill up the personal, educational, work experience details in the application form.
  4. The application will be accompanied by fee of Rs. 100 through demand draft in the favour of “IOCL- pipelines division” payable at Chennai.
  5. Send the application form along with the attested copies of documents to the following address

Enclosures to the application form

The list of attested copies of the documents need to send with application form:

  • 10th standard certificate as proof of date of birth
  • Educational qualification certificate and mark sheet
  • Receipt of Demand draft
  • SC/ ST/ OBC certificate

No objection certificate from previous employer, if applicable


IOCL Recruitment Selection Process

The shortlisted candidates will undergo in the process of IOCL selection process. The selection of candidates is based on the written test, trade test and personal interview.

  1. Candidates will have to qualify written test to go for further selection process. The written test consists of 120 questions. The duration of test is 120 minutes. Each question carry half marks and there is no negative marking. The candidates will be shortlisted for trade test in the ration of 1:10 for one vacancy.
  2. The trade test will be of 25 minutes in the written format consists of 25 questions. Candidates have to secure minimum 50% of marks to be qualify for personal interview. The qualified candidates will be called for in the ratio of 1:5 for one vacancy.
  3. Personal interview will be of 15 marks and candidates will have to secure at least marks 6 marks out of 15 to qualify it.
  4. The final merit list will be prepared based on the cumulative marks scored by candidates in written test/ trade test & personal interview. The candidates will be appointed for the mentioned post on the basis of merit list.

Pay Scale

The basic salary for the Engineering Assistant post is Rs. 11,900 to 32,000 and for the Technical Attendant post is Rs. 10,500 to 24,500.


IOCL Recruitment General Instructions

There are some general instructions notified by IOCL. Candidates can read the following points to know the instructions which are given below:

  • Candidates must have remained active their e-mail ID and mobile number entered in the application form.
  • They have to produce all the educational qualification/ caste certificates at the time of selection process.
  • Candidates employed in government/ PSUs must produce ‘No objection certificate’ at the time of interview.
  • IOCL reserves the right to debar any candidate, if they found not eligible. Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidature.
  • Service is transferable to anywhere in India. The selected candidates will be posted in any of the locations mentioned above.
  • A candidate can apply for one post only. If a candidate applies for more than one post, his candidature will be cancelled and will not be considered for any post.
