20 Vacancies of Junior Engineer Assistant-IV at Paradip Refinery, IOCL

IOCL (Indian Oil Corporation Limited) has released the notification for the recruitment for the post of the Junior Engineering Assistant – IV (Production) on March 1, 2017. The online registration commences from March 7, 2017. 

This exam is only for the male candidates as female candidates are barred from taking IOCL. Candidates having higher professional qualifications such as Graduate Engineers, MBA/MCA/CA/CS/ICWA/LLB or those claiming possession of a Qualification equivalent to the Qualification prescribed will not be considered for this post.

IOCL has declared the total number of 20 tentative seats which can be decreased or increased at the time of appointment. The last date for the registration is March 27,2017. The written test is likely to be held on April 30, 2017.

IOCL 2017 Application Process

IOCL 2017 application form is an online process which will be available on the official website from March 7,2017. The application fee for the General and OBC candidates is INR 150 (non-refundable) while SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen are exempted from the application fees. The application fee can be paid only by Demand Draft. The DD should be in the favor of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. payable at State Bank of India, Paradeep Branch. The online registration will close on March 27,2017. Here are few key points to be kept in mind while applying online for IOCL 2017 exam:

  • A candidate must have an active email ID and a phone number which should be valid for the next 12 months for future communication purposes.
  • The candidate should have the relevant documents/certificates pertaining to age, qualification, caste, experience, demand draft (if required) and scanned copy of colored photograph and signature in jpg format (size not exceeding 50 KB) ready before applying online. The photo and signature in digital form will be required to be uploaded.
  • All the eligible candidates may visit the official IOCL recruitment page to apply online.
  • The candidates need to send the print out of the application form to the IOCL office and attach all the documents mentioned in the checklist of the application form.
  • The last date to receive the application form is April 5, 2017. Applications received after this date would be rejected.
  • Candidates need to send their application forms at Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Paradip Refinery, Post Box No. 145, General Post Office (GPO), Bhubaneswar-751001.
  • Candidates are advised to carry a copy of the application with original & self-authenticated copies of all testimonials and produce the same at the time of SPPT for verification.
  • Incomplete applications, applications not supported by copies of relevant documents, applications not fulfilling the eligibility criteria or applications received after the last date of receipt of applications (in physical form) will be treated as ‘Rejected’.
  • Documents sent to any other address or sent as a registered letter, will stand automatically rejected.
  • Further information regarding written examination, call letters, results, etc. will be made available through the official website/over email. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep visiting the website regularly.

IOCL recruitment 2017: Eligibility Criteria

IOCL has declared various eligibility criteria for the recruitment of Junior Assistant Engineer. The Important eligibility criteria to be kept in mind before applying are:

  • Qualification: 3 years of Diploma is required in the field of Chemical / Refinery & Petrochemical Engineering or B.Sc. (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry) from a recognized University/Institute as a regular full time/sandwich Diploma course (Industrial training as part of the course with no break).
  • A minimum of 50% marks in aggregate for General & OBC candidates and 45% in case of SC/ST candidates is required.
  • Minimum 1 year of post qualification experience is required in operation (rotating shift) of Pump House, Fired Heater, Compressor, Distillation Column, Reactor, Heat Exchanger etc. in a Petroleum Refinery / Petrochemicals / Fertilizer /Heavy Chemical/Gas Processing Industry.
  • Candidates possessing Diploma under recognized lateral entry scheme [Class-XII(Science) admitted in 2nd year of Diploma Course] will also be considered eligible subject to meeting prescribed percentage of marks on the basis of aggregate of 4 semesters in the diploma course.
  • Candidates possessing higher professional qualification such as Graduate Engineers, MBA/MCA/CA/CS/ICWA/LLB or possessing a Qualification equivalent to the Qualification prescribed will not be considered for this post.
  • The criteria for full time regular course will not be insisted upon in case of Ex-Servicemen, provided they possess a requisite equivalent qualification that has been acquired during the service period and is recognized by AICTE/MHRD, Government of India and have secured the prescribed minimum percentage of marks.
  • Women candidates will not be considered for the above vacancies.
  • The date for the purposes of possession of qualification, meeting age criteria and for period of experience will be 31.03.2017.
  • Since it is a hard job, a person with disabilities is not eligible for this exam.

IOCL Recruitment 2017: Concessions and Relaxations

IOCL is providing various concessions and relaxation as per required by the job profile. The Junior Engineer will enjoy various benefits apart from the basic salary. Besides Basic Pay and Industrial pattern of DA, the other allowances/ benefits include HRA/subsidized housing accommodation (as per availability), Medical Facilities, Productivity/Performance Related Pay, Gratuity, Contributory Provident Fund, Employees’ Pension Scheme, Group Personal Accident Insurance, Leave Encashment, Leave Travel Concession/LFA, Contributory Superannuation Benefit Fund Scheme, House Building Advance, Conveyance Advance/Maintenance Reimbursement, Children Education Allowance etc., as per Corporation rules.. Some of the other relaxations and concessions are mentioned as follows:

  1. SC/ST/OBC candidates can be considered under General standard of merit against the un-reserved posts provided no relaxation in age, qualification etc. is availed of/extended to them.
  2. Candidates belonging to OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) may also apply for the above vacancies provided they meet the eligibility criteria applicable to General Candidates.
  3. Prescribed reservation for Ex-servicemen will be applied on horizontal basis as per Govt. guidelines.
  4. The minimum qualifying marks will be relaxed by 5% for candidates belonging to SC/ST categories considered with relaxation against reserved positions.
  5. SC/ST candidates called for Written Test and Skill/Proficiency/Physical Test will be reimbursed single IInd class rail fare from the nearest railway station of the mailing address to the place of Written Test and Skill/Proficiency/Physical Test and back by the shortest route on production of ticket, provided the distance is not less than 30 kilometers.
  6. SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from payment of application fee.
  7. Minimum 18 year and Maximum age will be 26 years for General and OBC candidates.
  8. Relaxation in age up to 5 years for SC/ST candidates considered against reserved positions will be allowed.
  9. Relaxation to Ex-servicemen will be allowed as per Govt. guidelines. Age relaxation of a period equal to minimum years of experience notified against a post will be allowed.

IOCL Recruitment 2017: Instructions and Guidelines

Candidates are advised to ensure that they are medically fit as per Indian Oil’s pre-employment medical standard. Candidates are advised to go through the “Guidelines and Criteria for Physical Fitness for Pre-employment medical examination” provided on the website and satisfy themselves of meeting the fitness criteria before they commence the application process. Some of the other important instructions and guidelines are mentioned as follows:

  1. The criteria for full time regular course will not be insisted upon in case of Ex-Servicemen, provided they possess a requisite equivalent qualification that has been acquired during the service period and is recognized by AICTE/MHRD, Government of India and have secured the prescribed minimum percentage of marks.
  2. Candidates possessing higher professional qualification such as Graduate Engineers, MBA/MCA/CA/CS/ICWA/LLB or those claiming possession of a Qualification equivalent to the Qualification prescribed will not be considered for the above post.
  3. Suppression of information regarding possession of or pursuing higher qualification will render a candidate ineligible for consideration at any stage of selection and termination at any time during employment, if recruited.

IOCL recruitment 2017: Selection Process

The IOCL recruitment 2017 selection process will comprise of a Written Test and a Skill/Proficiency/Physical Test which will be of qualifying nature. A candidate will have to secure a minimum of 40% marks in the written test to qualify for further consideration. Details of the IOCL recruitment 2017 selection process are given below:

  1. 5% relaxation in qualifying marks in the written test will be given to SC/ST category candidates against reserved positions.
  2. Obtaining minimum qualifying marks in the written test does not confer any right or claim by the candidate for being shortlisted for further consideration or the final selection, as the same is related to number of positions, ratio applied and relative performance in respective categories.
  3. Shortlisted candidates, in the ratio of 1:2 (two candidates for one post, with due cognizance to number of reserved posts) subject to securing minimum qualifying marks in the written test, will be required to undergo a Skill/Proficiency/Physical Test (SPPT). The SPPT will be conducted by a duly constituted committee
  4. In case of tie of marks in the written test for the last position on the Shortlist for SPPT, all such candidates will be called for the SPPT, even if the total number exceeds the prescribed ratio. If such a situation arises anywhere before the last position while drawing a list, the last name/last few names, in proportion to the prescribed ratio, will get eliminated.
  5. Category-wise Merit list will be drawn on the basis of marks obtained in the written test from & out of the said short-list; only for such candidates who qualify in the SPPT.
  6. In case of tie of marks for the last position on the Merit List, the candidate with prior date of birth (senior by age) will find a place in the Merit list. However, the name of the junior will also be retained in the said Merit List, as the last name. If such a situation arises anywhere before the last position while drawing a list, the last name/last few names in the list, in proportion to the prescribed ratio, will get eliminated.
  7. Ex-Servicemen candidates, if found suitable, will be considered against reserved vacancy irrespective of their position in merit list (in order of merit within the category) on horizontal reservation policy.
  8. The candidature of the applicant would be provisional and subject to subsequent verification of certificates/testimonials, experience etc. At any stage of the selection process, if it is found that the candidate has furnished false or incorrect information, the candidature/appointment of the candidate will be cancelled.
  9. Filling up of vacancies is solely at the discretion of the management based on suitability of candidates and no claim will arise for appointment, if some of these vacancies are not filled due to unsuitability of available candidates or insufficiency in number of candidates.
  10. The decision of the Management will be final and binding on all candidates on all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of the application, mode of selection, cancellation of the selection process either in part or full, etc. No correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

The IOCL Recruitment exam is likely to be held on April 30,2017. It takes IOCL to announce the results. The tentative date for the declaration of the IOCL Recruitment 2017 exam is May 5, 2017.
