NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
The Indian Engineering Services or the IES, is conducted by Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) each year. The IES Exam is held to recruit candidates to various posts in the core engineering fields- Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electrical and Telecommunication Engineering.
The IES 2017 is scheduled for January 8, 2016. Candidates have to clear a two-tier selection process- Written Test and Personality Test, to be able to clear the IES 2017. Government of India recruits the civil servants and officials on the basis of merit ranking secured by the candidates appeared in IES Exam.
UPSC notification for the IES registration process has been released. Candidates can register themselves from September 28, 2016 to November 3, 2016. Read on to know about the IES 2017 eligibility criteria, application process, important dates, etc.
The IES 2017 Exam Dates have been released. Candidates must fill-in the application form by November 3, 2016 to register themselves. The IES 2017 Preliminary Exam will be held on January 8, 2017. The IES 2017 Mains Exam will be conducted on May 14, 2017. The below table describes all the necessary dates.

IES Result (Final)
A candidate applying for UPSC IES Exam 2017, must ensure that he duly fulfills the IES Eligibility Criteria which is given below. Failure to comply with these criteria may result in cancellation of candidature.
The ESE Registrations 2017 shall be done online at www.upsc online.nic.in. The applicants are advised to submit only single application. All candidates, whether already in Government Service, or in Government owned industrial undertakings or other similar organisations or in private employment, should apply online direct to the Commission.
Persons, already in Government service whether in a permanent or temporary capacity or as work‐charged employees other than causal or daily rated employees or those serving under public enterprises are, however, required to inform their Head of Office/Department that they have applied for the Examination. The IES Application Process consists of 4 steps given below:

Post the successful IES 2017 Registration by candidates who fulfill the IES Eligibility Criteria, UPSC will release the eAdmission Certificate, more commonly known as IES 2017 Admit Card to each successfully registered Candidate. The IES Admit Card provided though is provisional yet mandatory for candidates to produce at the IES Exam Centre. The Admit Card should be supported with an original photo id issued by Govt. Of India.
The IES Admit Card consists of the basic information about the applicants and thus the candidates are advised to verify the details mentioned on the eAdmission Certificate accrording to the information provided during IES Registration.
The IES Result for all the qualified candidates in the preliminary exam scheduled to be conducted on January 8, 2017 will be declared after the exam is concluded and IES Merit List is prepared. All the qualified candidates will be invited for the next level of IES Selection Process, IES Mains.
The qualified candidates of the IES Mains will be invited for Group Discussion & Personal Interview in which the candidates’ aptitude and communication skills are tested along with their efficiency to project their ideas and establish it in a group.
