IBPS RRB Officers Scale I Mains Exam Analysis

The Main exam for IBPS RRB for the Officer Scale I posts concluded on December 11, 2016. The overall exam was moderate and hence the cutoff is expected to go a little higher this year. The cutoff, though, will be different for different states depending upon the number of vacancies.

The exam was conducted in online mode. The paper consisted of 5 sections and questions were asked in both Hindi and English. The duration of exam also varies.

The result for the exam conducted on December 11 is expected to be out by the end of December. The Main exam for the post of Office Assistants at RRBs will be conducted on December 18, 2016.

IBPS RRB Main Officer Scale I Paper Analysis

Before we delve deeper into exam paper analysis for IBPS RRB Main exam, it is important to throw some light on the pattern followed for the exam. The Main exam for IBPS RRB Officer Scale I is of 2 hours and consists of 200 questions distributed over 5 sections. In case of a wrong answer, 1/4th of the marks allotted to that question is deducted.

This year the exam was deemed moderate. The mode of examination was both Hindi and English except for the language section and candidates could choose their preferred language. The difficulty level of different sections in the test paper if explained below:

Quantitative Aptitude Analysis

The Quantitative Aptitude section was moderate to difficult. Out of 40 questions, there were only 10 questions which fell in the easy to moderate category. There were three questions from data interpretation – pie chart, bar graph, and missing DI.

Reasoning Ability Analysis

The reasoning ability section was moderate to difficult. There were a total of 4 puzzles. Questions from seating arrangement and puzzles made up for 50% questions in this section.

General Awareness and Computer Awareness Analysis

General Awareness section was easy to moderate. The questions were mainly from current affairs and banking related. Some of the topics covered were Asian Games 2018, APEC Summit 2016, Kabbadi World Cup etc.

Computer Awareness section was also easy. Any candidate aware with the basics of computer knowledge would have been able to attempt 20-25 questions easily and accurately.

English Language Analysis

English section was a little difficult than the Hindi language section. There were 2 reading comprehension questions in this section.

Hindi Language Analysis

Comparative to other sections, Hindi language was the easiest. Maximum questions were asked from Reading Comprehension and Cloze test.

All in all the paper was moderate to difficult with easy questions scattered throughout. A total attempt of 135-145 questions can be termed as a good attempt. Accuracy highly matters when it comes to IBPS RRB exam. So a candidate with a 95% accuracy and a total attempt in the range of 140 questions can hope for selection in the Main exam.
