The mandate clearly directs that the teachers appointed in any CBSE Schools should be CTET qualified.
CBSE conducts Central Teacher Eligiblity Test (CTET) for recruitment of Teachers for Primary and Secondary levels. The qualified candidates are certified as Class I to VIII teachers ready-to-be-recruited in government Schools such as Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalaya and others. The Exam is conducted in two panels for Class I to V teachers and Class VI to VIII Teachers. Over passing years, the popularity of CTET has grown manifolds and private schools affiliated to CBSE and other boards are looking forward to hire CTET Certified teachers.
There are in total 1300 KVs, 961 NV and over 63 Tibetan Schools across the nation who hire only CTET certified teachers. However the vacancies available in such schools are not more than 5000 collectively. The CTET is taken by more 10 lac people while only 10% (1 lac) aspirants qualify. The competition in CTET is thus very tough (100,000 candidates for 5000 posts) especially considering CTET is just one of the criteria.
However, the candidates can apply to the other CBSE Schools as they also hire CTET Certified candidates
