ONGC Recruitment through CLAT 2017

ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited) is inviting applications for the 15 post of Assistant Legal Advisor through CLAT Score. The application form for ONGC Recruitment is available from May 5, 2017. Candidates having LLB Degree or equivalent are eligible to apply for this post. The selection process for ONGC Recruitment is scheduled after CLAT 2017 Result. The selection is done on the basis of scores obtained in CLAT 2017 followed by a personal interview. ONGC will release a separate merit list for Legal Advisor post. ONGC is a public-sector enterprise which is engaged in Exploration and Production of Oil and Gas in India.

CLAT is a national level entrance test organized by Chanakya National Law University. It is conducted for admissions to LLB and LLM courses offered at 19 NLUs across the country. CLAT Entrance Test is scheduled for May 14, 2017. CLAT Result will be declared on May 29, 2017. Eligibility for ONGC CLAT 2017

Candidates seeking a job in ONGC can check the following points to know the eligibility criteria which are given below:

  • Candidates must have LLB degree or equivalent from a UGC/AICTE or any other recognized university.
  • They must have obtained at least 60% of marks in aggregate in their graduation.
  • Candidates in the final semester of the qualifying course are also eligible to apply. They must have produce mark sheet of all the semester on or before July 15, 2017.
  • Practicing Advocate with three years of experience will be preferred for all categories.
  • They must have a valid score in CLAT 2017. The previous year scores obtained in CLAT are not valid for ONGC recruitment.

Age Limit

The upper age limit for the general category is 30 years while it is 33 years for OBC category and 35 years for SC/ST candidates. The age limit for PWD category is 40 years. They will be further relaxed by 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST category.

Candidates belong to Ex-Servicemen (General, OBC, SC, ST) will be relaxed by 5 years in age. The age relaxation will be extended to departmental candidates to the extent of their services rendered in ONGC. The age limit will be calculated as on January 01, 2017.

Reservation

The benefit of reservation will be given to the reserved category according to the ONGC rules. Candidates seeking reservation as SC, ST, OBC etc, they will have to submit the caste certificate in the prescribed format at the time of interview round. Candidates can download the prescribed format of the caste certificate for employment of government undertaking. For getting the benefit of reservation under OBC category, the name of caste and community must appear in the Central list of OBC (Other Backward Classes) available on National Commission for Backward Classes. Candidates must ensure that they possess the latest non- creamy layer certificate of government of India. A certificate containing any variation in caste name will not be accepted. How to Apply for ONGC CLAT 2017

ONGC Application process is a two-stage process i.e. CLAT registration and ONGC registration. Candidates are required to apply for CLAT 2017 (LLM Course) at www.clat.ac.in to go for ONGC Recruitment. The CLAT application fee for general/OBC category is INR 4000 while it is INR 3500 for SC/ST candidates. There is no separate application fee for ONGC Recruitment. Candidates willing to apply for ONGC recruitment through CLAT 2017 can check the following steps of the application process as listed below:

  1. Visit the official website of ONGC i.e. www.ongcindia.com
  2. Click on the link of Recruitment of Legal Advisor in ONGC through CLAT 2017 for LLM.
  3. Candidates can login through CLAT Registration Number and Date of Birth as a password.
  4. Candidates are required to fill up the same details as they have entered in the CLAT Application Form.
  5. After the submission of application form, take the printout of the application form for its future reference.

ONGC CLAT Selection Process

Candidates meeting age and eligibility criteria of ONGC as mentioned above will be required to appear for CLAT 2017. The selection of candidates is based on the CLAT Score and a personal interview conducted by ONGC. They will be shortlisted for personal interview round on the basis of entrance test. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of scores obtained in CLAT examination, marks of qualifying course and performance in personal interview.

If the total marks of two or more candidates are identical in the merit then order of merit will be fixed on the basis of weightage of CLAT score and marks obtained in the interview only. After that, till the marks are identical then the candidate who is older in age is considered for the post. The departmental candidates will be given first consideration in selection criteria while other things such as educational qualification, eligibility etc. remain the same.

Pay Scale

The pay scale for Assistant Legal Advisor post is in the grade of INR 24,900 to 50,500/- per month with an increment of 3% per year.

In addition to basic pay, the selected candidate is entitled to allowance @ 47% of basic pay, Dearness allowance, House Rent Allowance, Company Accommodation, Mining Allowance, Contributory Provident Fund, Conveyance Maintenance, Substantial (PRP) Performance Related Pay, Medical Facility for self and dependents, Gratuity, post retirement scheme etc. as per company’s rules.


Important Instructions for ONGC CLAT

Candidates have to go through the detailed instructions for CLAT 2017 for LLM and the detailed advertisement of ONGC carefully before applying. They can check the following points to know the important instructions for ONGC through CLAT which are given below:

  • The selected candidates as an Assistant Legal Advisor are liable to be posted anywhere in India or abroad.
  • Candidates employed in PSUs and government departments will be required to produce ‘No Objection Certificate’ at the time of interview round.
  • ONGC reserves the right to reject any candidate at any stage of recruitment process if any information provided by the candidate is false.
  • Mere issue of call letter to the candidate will not imply that their candidature has been finally cleared by ONGC. During this period, the candidature is provisional. ONGC takes up verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents only after the candidate has qualified for the interview.
  • The selected candidates will be subject to their passing company’s medical examination as per their medical standard’s rules.

Ques: How will ONGC use CLAT- 2017 score?

Ans: ONGC will use CLAT-2017 (Post Graduate (LLM) programme) score for short listing candidates, desirous to take up career with ONGC for further selection process. CLAT-2017 score is using in lieu of their own written test. Short listing will be done based on merit. ONGC get the CLAT-2017 scores from the CLAT 2017 authorities. Ans: Any previous CLAT score is not valid for this recruitment exercise in ONGC. Only CLAT-2017 Score for LLM is valid for ONGC.

Ques: Is there any physical fitness criteria for appearing in CLAT and for applying in ONGC?

Ans: CLAT does not have any physical fitness criteria, but ONGC has. For Applying in ONGC, the candidates wanting to appear in CLAT for recruitment in ONGC must see the medical fitness standard of ONGC before proceeding with the CLAT- 2017 application process.
