NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
CLAT 2018 (Common Law Admission Test) is a National level entrance test conducted by 18 National Law universities (NLUs) across the country. The exam is conducted every year to admit candidates seeking admission into LL.M and LL.B programs offered by these 18 NLUs. The exam is conducted and coordinated by NLUs on a rotational basis.
The exam pattern is different for both UG and PG candidates. Candidates applying for UG courses will have to undergo a test comprising of 200 questions divided intofive sections namely English and Comprehension, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Elementary mathematics (Numerical ability), Legal aptitude, and Logical Reasoning. The number of questions asked in each section will be 40, 50, 20, 50, and 40 respectively. CLAT would consist of a total of 200 marks with all questions carrying equal marks. Candidates will be awarded one mark for each correct answer and ¼ of the marks allotted for the question would be deducted in case it is answered incorrectly. There would be no deduction of marks in case the question is left unattempt. Total time allotted for the test would be 120 minutes (2 hours).
Candidates applying for admission to PG courses through CLAT 2018 will have to undergo a test comprising of 150 questions divided into three sections namely Constitutional law, Jurisprudence, and topics like Contracts, Torts, Criminal Law, International Law, IPR etc. Each section would comprise of 50 questions carrying equal marks. The time allotted and marking criteria (including negative marking) would be same as that for UG course.
The exam will be held in online mode for both UG and PG programs. This year the exam is scheduled for May 14, 2017. Admit card for CLAT 2017 will be available on the official site of CLAT from April 20, 2017, and the final results would be declared latest by May 29, 2017.
Candidate applying for CLAT 2018 will be issued admit cards 2 to 3 weeks prior to the exam. The admit card will be issued only if the candidate fulfills the eligibility criteria as per the official notification of the CLAT 2018 issued by the conducting authority. Candidates can download their admit cards from the official website of the CLAT 2018 as well as from the website of NLU conducting the exam in 2018. The CLAT 2018 admit card along with a valid identity proof like Aadhar card/Driving License/Voter ID/Passport etc. will be the gateway for eligible candidates to enter the exam hall and attempt the CLAT 2018 exam.
Candidates can download admit cards for CLAT 2018 from 3rd week of April 2018 onwards. Following steps are required to be followed to download the CLAT 2018 admit card.
The admit card of CLAT 2018 would contain following details related to the candidate and the exam.
Candidates who will fail to carry their admit card and ID proof to the exam venue would not be allowed to enter the exam hall and attempt the test.
The exact date of the availability of the CLAT 2018 admit cards would be notified once the official notification is published. Collegeduniawould update you regarding the same once the conducting authority publishes the notification on its website. Candidates on their part are advised to visit the CLAT 2018 official website on regular basis so as to keep themselves updated regarding the latest updates related to the exam.
Discrepancy in admit cards (if any)
In case candidates notice any discrepancy in their admit cards related to their Date of Birth, Name, Signature, etc., they must communicate the same to the CLAT 2018 conducting authority through the mail or other means of communication as mentioned in the official notification and website. Not informing the conducting authority about the discrepancies that have crept in could lead to disqualification/debarring of the candidate from the exam.
Candidates are required to carry their CLAT 2018 admit card along with a valid ID proof (Aadhar card/passport/voter ID/Driving License etc.) on the exam day. These two documents (admit card and ID proof) would be checked at the entrance of the exam venue and after verification of both these documents the candidate would be allowed to enter the exam hall and take the exam. Failing to carry these documents, candidate will not be allowed to enter the exam hall and take the exam.
Candidates are advised to make the arrangements of necessary documents and items that are required to be carried on the exam hall, a day or two prior to the exam. Candidates should arrange their admit cards, ID proof, pencil, pen, eraser, sharpener etc. beforehand to avoid the last hour rush. In case the exam centre is far away from candidate’s place of residence then he/she should make some arrangements near the exam centre in advance. Candidates are advised to visit the exam venue 30 minutes before the schedule time of exam to get time for settling in and calming their nerve. Instructions mentioned on the official notification and in the document attached with the admit card should be adhered to.
