TS LAWCET 2018 Exam Pattern

Telangana State Law Common Entrance Test (TS LAWCET) 2018 is a state level entrance exam that will be conducted by Kakatiya University, Warangal. The university assumes responsibility for exam on behalf of Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE).

  • Exam is usually held in the month of May
  • The exam is conducted in English and Telegu
  • Exam will be conducted over a time duration of one and a half hours (90 minutes)
  • Exam will be carried out in offline mode (Pen Paper based)
  • Exam syllabus has been formulated for the assessment of candidate possessing skills and propensity required to pursue law
  • Exam will entail three sections, namely General Knowledge and Mental Ability, Current Affairs, and Aptitude for the Study of Law
  • Exam will be objective, containing 120 multiple choice questions (MCQs)
  • No negative marking is not applicable for TS LAWCET 2018

TS LAWCET 2018 Exam Pattern in Detail

TS LAWCET 2018 exam will be divided into three parts - General Knowledge and Mental Ability and Aptitude for the Study of Law

  • Part A: General Knowledge and Mental Ability: This part will consist of 30 questions, all of which will be multiple choice, with each MCQ bearing four alternate answers. Candidate will have to choose the correct answer. A maximum of 30 marks can be awarded in this section
  • Part B: Current Affairs: This part will also consist of 30 questions, all of which will be multiple choice, with each MCQ bearing four alternate answers. Candidate will have to choose the correct answer. A maximum of 30 marks can be awarded in this section
  • Part C: Aptitude for the Study of Law: This part will consist of 60 questions, all of which will be multiple choice, with each MCQ bearing four alternate answers. Candidate will have to choose the correct answer. A maximum of 60 marks can be awarded in this section
  • Being the state level exam, candidates will be given language option between English and Telugu
  • Candidates will earn 1 mark for every correct answer, without any negative marking for incorrect answer
  • Candidates can earn a maximum mark of 120 for exam
  • Candidates will be given one and a half hours (90 minutes) in total to complete the entire exam, covering all three sections
  • No specific time segregation has been done for each section, which means that candidates will have to do the entire paper in 90 minutes, without any section-specific time limitation

TS LAWCET 2018 Marking Scheme

Candidates will be marked for every question individually depending upon the answer marked in Optical Mark Reader (OMR) response sheet given to each candidate. Candidates will be awarded 1 mark for each correct answer marked on OMR sheet only

  • No negative marks will be given to candidates for giving an incorrect answer
  • Furthermore, candidates will not lose any marks for unanswered questions
  • Each question, across all three sections of exam, will carry only 1 mark
  • There are no differences in marks granted depending on the section
  • This implies that maximum marks that can be obtained by every candidate is 120
  • Candidate is required to score a minimum of 35% marks for qualify entrance exam, which means that minimum passing marks are 42 out of 120
  • However, no minimum marks have to be attained by candidates belonging to SC or ST classes to qualify exam
  • Candidates will be awarded ranks solely on the basis of marks obtained in exam
  • In case of more than one candidate obtaining same marks, candidate’s marks in Part C will be taken into consideration
  • In case the tie still continues, candidate’s marks in Part B will be considered
  • IF tie still persist, candidates with same marks will be grouped together for ranking purpose and at the time of admission higher age might become the decisive factor

TS LAWCET 2018 Syllabus

There is no official syllabus set for TS LAWCET 2018. Exam will consists of three parts and all three of them will evaluate candidates across various parameters

  • Part A: Candidate will be required to answer questions based on logical reasoning and fundamental general awareness
  • Part B: Candidates will have to answer questions that have been formulated on the basis of ongoing news topics and current affairs. This implies that candidates must remain up-to-date with the significant and essential events and occurrences taking place across the world
  •  Part C: Candidates appearing for exam will be tested on the basis of their elementary knowledge regarding the basic principles of the Law and Constitution of India
  • Candidates appearing for 3-year Law Course can expect their TS LAWCET 2018 exam to be of Degree Level
  • Candidates appearing for 5-year Law Course can expect their TS LAWCET 2018 exam to be of Intermediate level.

Important Instructions

Candidates will not be allowed to enter examination hall after 10:00 am candidate will be allowed to enter examination center without admit card

  • Admit card cannot be transferred
  • Admit card must not be tampered with and any tampering will result in automatic disqualification of candidature
  • Candidates must carry a ball point pen of blue or black color
  • Carry a photo identity proof along with admit card. This will be of assistance to candidate and invigilator for the purpose of verification of candidate
  • Until the completion of exam, candidates must keep sitting at their allotted seats
  • No candidate will be allowed to leave examination hall until the conclusion of exam
  • Before leaving examination hall, OMR sheet must be handed over by candidates to invigilator, failing which candidature will be cancelled
  • Question paper can be carried out by candidates
  • Candidates will receive specifically designed OMR response sheet and answer of every question must be marked only on this sheet. Any other means of answering questions will not be accepted
  • Different OMR response sheets will be given depending upon whether candidate is appearing for 3-year or 5-year law course
  • All the details must be carefully and appropriately filled in OMR sheets in corresponding boxes, before commencing exam
  • Violation of instructions will result in automatic invalidation of OMR response sheet
  • Candidates are requested not to fold, tear or wrinkle OMR response sheet
  • Candidates must not scribble or make any markings on OMR sheet
  • No second or replacement OMR response sheet will be given to any candidate and therefore, the given OMR sheet must be carefully handled
  • Instructions on question paper booklet and OMR sheet must be carefully read by candidates before starting exam
  • Candidates have to give only one correct answer out of four alternate options for every question. Answer must be marked on OMR sheet by darkening the chosen circle with black or blue ball point pen
  • No negative marking will be done for incorrect answers or unanswered questions
  • Screenshots of OMR sheets are given below
  • It is necessary to attempt all three sections
  • Candidates must reach examination venue half an hour before commencement of examination
  • Candidates must not send anyone else to attempt examination
  • Admit card must be retained by candidates until the declaration of results and during the admission process
