NEET 2017 NEWS
NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
In a series of events revolving around NEET 2017, a petition has been filed to postpone the date of examination. The petition was filed on April 08 as writ (Civil) by Sankalp Charitable Trust, though it’s status is still pending. This could come as a sigh of relief to all the candidates preparing for NEET 2017 along with Board exams. In addition to the petition filed, the trust seeks support from NEET aspirants on social medial websites.

The Board exams are scheduled to end by the last week of April and NEET 2017 is schedule on May 07 giving candidates 14 days to properly prepare for the unified national level medical entrance examination. Prior to the introduction of NEET, this could have been managed as the students had an extra option with their state medical entrance. In a recent report, a senior member of the trust shared his concern over such a short window, “Earlier, the pressure on students and examiners were balanced, divided equally. But now, since NEET has been made mandatory, candidates are pressurized about doing well in NEET as they do not have any second option. The short window is increasing their tension tenfold.” He said.
It could be a complex task for CBSE to postpone NEET altogether. The exam was scheduled keeping in mind the other entrances. May 21 is booked for JEE Advanced Exam. AIIMS exam is scheduled on May 28 and June 4 is JIPMER. So, if at all NEET has to be postponed from the earlier tentative date May 7, it has to either May 14 or June 11.
CBSE would not want to postpone the exam as it would postpone the results as well eventually causing the academic year to commence late. It is to be noted that due to the NEET (2) 2016, the counselling was conducted in just two rounds and MCI had to surrender 1000 seats altogether. Though the petition was filed on Saturday, there has not yet been any official statement about state. However, as per reports CBSE is looking forward to the scheduled date as postponing the exam would eventually hurt the whole academic cycle.
